"This is a truly lovely restaurant with fantastic food. The portions are quite generous, and you might find yourself indulging a bit, but it's definitely worth it because the food is delicious. The drink menu is also impressive, offering options like cocktails, beer, or milkshakes to complement your meal. The service was prompt, and the staff was very friendly and pleasant. The space is not very large, so it's best to make a reservation; otherwise, you might be disappointed, as we were during our visit last year when we couldn't get a table. I highly recommend giving it a visit!"

"Nice team of staff, average food that fits its purpose, but certainly not a family pub We arrived there needing to feed 2 hungry children, we left with 2 children asking why the family next to us were so loud, continuously swearing, advertising their sex lives and left a mass of destruction behind... Not the staff teams fault that those people exist and behave that way, but maybe they should have intervened sooner as others had clearly had to endure them for some time before we had! Not somewhere I'd choose to voluntarily visit again, maybe in the daytime it's safe for a family to use for a quick meal"

"I went as a solo diner (my forst time so it was daunting especially in a new area! But the staff were very accommodating and didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all! Service was prompt (I hesitate to say almost too prompt , and the food was lovely. I'd never considered scallops, black pudding and apple sauce being a combo I needed in my life but it will now become a staple for those fancy dinners. The steak and ale pie was delicious and beyond filling i couldn't fit dessert in, so finished with a coffee instead. As I say I went solo and it was great I'll be going back with others at some point for sure! "Came across this rather quirky and funky coffee shop on the high street. The menu boards outside was quite extensive so we decided to have our lunch here. The décor inside was indeed quirky, but definitely needing a lot of tender loving care. Although it Initially attracted the young student clientele it still was able to offer a decent meal offering for all age groups. The food ordered was sadly very small portion sizes although saying that it was freshly cooked. The presentation was reasonable and quality was just ok. The main criticism we found was the very slow service, they need to have more staff working, 3 members of staff whom together were serving, cooking, cleaning tables, preparing food, doing drinks and working till did not give a professional approach. The toilet was rather drab looking definitely needs to be refurbished. Another issue was that it's very cold inside regardless of portable heaters sporadically placed. Would we come again, probably not unless it gets more staff and it offers bigger portion sizes and sorts out the heating."

"It’s great to have this place as my local! They have a good range of rotating craft beers on keg from all around the UK which is right up my street. Had the pizza recently which was tasty and clearly home cooked. It’s generally got a good buzz but my only complaint would be the acoustics are awful. When the music is on and the place is full it’s very difficult to have conversations. I’m all for keeping the place lively but investing in some sound proofing/ dampening would make a massive difference!"

"Called in on a day out in Truro. We were searching for somewhere to eat, and quite by luck we came across Chorleys. We looked at the menu outside, and were drawn in by that and the amazing aromas wafting out. Three of us each had a different burger, and shared some peri peri fries, which had a lovely kick to them, and the crispiest onion rings we’ve ever tasted. The food was of the highest quality, and the gentleman serving us was extremely polite and good at his job. We explained that one of our group had a dairy allergy, which was no problem and the cheese on that persons burger was exchanged for a dairy free alternative. We are visiting Cornwall again in a few weeks, and will travel down to Truro from Bude to eat there again. "I didn 't actually eat inside the resteraunt. Myself and a friend had actually heard of the resteraunt and thought we should drop by to have a look. The interior is furnished well and appears to be a well running establishment. My friend and I found ourselves needing a toilet, and , seeming as many areas were shutting, we thought to combine the drop for a W/C to scout for a future reservation. Before entering the toilets, I indeed politely asked a staff member to use the toilets. It is a free country, but manners should never be in short supply. They were happy with it. We went ahead, and on our exit, we checked the specials. Then, when exiting, another member of staff delivered a quick, backhanded comment. I was struck by them not even looking me in the face at least look me in the face! 'For future reference, the toilets here are only available to paying customers. ' The message was apt enough, yet the way she said it was filled with distain as though we were staining her establishment. You must never make future costumers feel like they are below you. I originally thought her to be a member of the public I never would have guessed her to be staff. No one else was dining at that moment in the resteraunt. I gave a short reply, and left, not wanting to bother with useless conversation. I later realised I had not told her we had asked to use the facilities and had not merely just barged in with antisocial behaviour on our minds. Perhaps my fault, then; a misunderstanding. But I was struck that she wasn 't more cooperative, as we had evidently asked, and were sure she must have heard. Well, some people are just difficult. Perhaps she was having a bad day, in a mediocre mood, and I hardly blame her for trying to uphold her establishment. But her crude and unfriendly manner disgruntled my friend, and has now resulted in him not wanting to return. We won 't. Money missed out on for them, thanks to the lack of hindsight by a bitter and overzealous staff member. Think before you speak. Communication obviously is not present at this resteraunt, and no doubt if she repeats such behaviour, her customers will decrease exponentially. I am sure, however, that the food is great. My friend had apologised; later, I told him not to apologise unless you have actually done something wrong!"

"Sarah and John were incredibly welcoming! The food was of excellent quality, and they went above and beyond to accommodate our little ones. My husband had the deluxe burger, and I enjoyed a delicious chicken burger—both cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. My daughter had chicken strips, and she loved the chocolate milkshake that was served with a smile! I can't recommend this place enough. While the exterior may not be much to look at, once you step inside, everything is immaculate. Even the restrooms are well-decorated and very clean. We would definitely return if we're in the area again, as the food is to die for and the service is spot on. While it's not the cheapest option, the quality of the experience makes it well worth it. It was a fantastic family dinner!"

"A friend suggested that we try this restaurant for steaks after having a wonderful experience there recently. We ordered a rump steak and a sirloin, which we enjoyed alongside a wheat beer and a local brew. We were not let down; the food was outstanding, and the seasonal vegetables were delightful. The steaks were exceptional. The staff was very friendly and attentive, making our visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place! The menu offers a variety of options, but I can only speak to the steaks we tried. We will definitely return. Thank you, Skiing Doo!"

"We visited Fort William in September and absolutely loved Grog Gruel. They serve the best cider, particularly the Thistly Cross whisky cask variety, and you can even buy it in bottles to take home. Our favorite bartender was Jay—he was very friendly and excellent at his job! We only enjoyed food and drinks downstairs, but everything we had was outstanding. We can't wait to return! "My husband and I loved the moody take away and tonight we decided to take our family to the moody restaurant, what a disappointment! The atmosphere is awful and awkward, the staff are uninterested and slow, out of all the people working tonight only one guy actually seemed to be doing anything, the others were talking at the bar hiding behind menus!? We waited 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive and then they finally took our food order, I’d understand the wait if the restaurant was busy but it was empty! I took my daughters to the toilets which were dirty and out of toilet tissue, quite gross for a restaurant. We waited a ridiculous amount of time for our food to arrive and could see the few other diners in there doing the same. When our food arrived our starters came out with the kids main meals which was great but all of our children’s food orders were wrong we didn’t mention it and just thought we’d let the kids get on with it as we didn’t want to wait ages again to have them re done. The food wasn’t great, the burgers were dry and our starters were cold. We finished our starters and waited for our mains to arrive, expecting them to come out before our children were finished, they didn’t. We waited over 30 mins after finishing our starters before my husband had had enough and told them not to bother. I’ve never waited so long for a burger and fries in my life especially in an empty restaurant. We arrived at 6 and left at 7.30 having only had our starters. After complaining about the wait they offered to take 20% off the price of the meals when we had already told them that we have a 20% off voucher anyway. So disappointed and definitely would not return. To be honest it was so bad that I probably wouldn’t order from the take away now either."

"I went to this restaurant with a group of friends for a meal. We ordered sea bass, which was served with potatoes and salad. Unfortunately, the potatoes were inedible because they were rock hard. My husband, who ordered steak, also tried to cut them with his steak knife but couldn't make any progress. When I brought this to the attention of the staff, the cook replied, “I am doing my best!” While I understand that mistakes happen, when I raised the issue with the manager, she simply acknowledged the problem and said they would file a complaint. But who are they complaining to—the farmer? It seemed they didn’t realize the potatoes were undercooked. There was no apology or offer of a discount provided. As someone with Type 1 Diabetes, I needed to eat, but overall, the experience was very unprofessional and left a good meal ruined."

"We visited here for the first time last night. Originally thought it was just potatoes but it does so much more, burgers, pizza, chips etc. I had pulled pork burger with chips and my husband had chilli con carne burger with chips. The chips were gorgeous as were the burgers and very filling. I had 1 cocktail and my husband had 2 and it came to £42.90. I would highly recommend service was great too and nice atmosphere."

"Everyone enjoyed their roast dinners, which were generously portioned. Each plate featured a good-sized Yorkshire pudding, a variety of vegetables, roast potatoes, and delicious gravy to complement the meat. The pork included a delectable piece of crackling that truly delivered on its promise. The rest of the menu includes many pub favorites, but some popular items might not be available on busier days. For dessert, there was the usual assortment of hot and cold options, such as sticky toffee pudding, crumble, and cheesecakes. Although not particularly unique, these desserts were still much appreciated."

"I visited this charming venue for work and was quite impressed. The food that emerged from the kitchen looked very appealing. Jason and the female server (I apologize for not catching her name) were both very accommodating and attentive to all the customers. The photos reveal a beautifully decorated village pub with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. On certain nights of the week, they offer pizzas from a pizza oven, making it easy to dine in or take away. It seems this lovely little pub has a strong connection to the local community, as a lot of local patrons were dining there by the time I left, which is always a positive sign."

"The pub has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere! I visited with a large group and ordered a burger with chips, which completely satisfied my craving. It's an excellent spot to enjoy dinner and drinks with friends. Despite the rain outside, I had some fantastic conversations while we sheltered inside. The service was attentive and quick. The only unusual thing was that they started playing music about halfway through our visit. Overall, it was a great experience!"

"Overall, it was a decent experience. The diner is conveniently located off the A1 southbound and has ample parking available next to it. Just a note: the square in front is not for parking. The diner itself was clean, tidy, and had a charming Americana decor. The food was reasonably good for a fast-food place, and the milkshakes were excellent—definitely worth stopping for! The service was friendly, though somewhat erratic. My main issue, which cost them a star, was that the bill took a while to be brought to us after we asked for it. We had finished our meal and wanted to get back on the road, so that delay was quite frustrating, especially considering their location on the A1. Nonetheless, I would certainly visit again if I’m traveling down the A1."
