"Hadn’t been to this place for 30 plus years but moved back to the area and since it’s local thought I’d give it a go. What a disappointment. Took ages for the meal to be served When it did come it was cold not just “not as hot as you’d like” but cold like it had been outside. The waitresses were good and offered to re cook the whole meal for the 3 of us. But what was served up next had more akin to an elephants elbow than steak it was a third of the size of the original piece of meat and cooked so well done it was impossible to get the knife through it. Waitress did discount my meal. Until the bill came and it was more with the discount than advertised. If someone sends something back with a genuine issue. Make sure the replacement meal is 10/10. Won’t be back. Pity"

"Excellent food and welcoming staff. However, the venue was a bit of a letdown due to exposed utilities on the ceiling and a somewhat chilly atmosphere. The meals were outstanding, and the staff provided friendly service during the ordering process. They struck a nice balance, not being overly intrusive while we were eating, and they checked in with us once to ensure everything was satisfactory—unlike some places that linger too closely! Finally, when it came time to pay the bill, the server was engaging and friendly. Overall, I'd rate the food a perfect 5."

"Overall, it was a decent experience. The diner is conveniently located off the A1 southbound and has ample parking available next to it. Just a note: the square in front is not for parking. The diner itself was clean, tidy, and had a charming Americana decor. The food was reasonably good for a fast-food place, and the milkshakes were excellent—definitely worth stopping for! The service was friendly, though somewhat erratic. My main issue, which cost them a star, was that the bill took a while to be brought to us after we asked for it. We had finished our meal and wanted to get back on the road, so that delay was quite frustrating, especially considering their location on the A1. Nonetheless, I would certainly visit again if I’m traveling down the A1."

"Well presented and prepared traditional Scottish dishes. Fish was very fresh and delicious and chips were crisp. A decent selection of beers, wines and spirits on offer and prices were very reasonable. Servers were friendly and efficient, dining areas are warm, nicely decorated and tables are evenly spaced for comfort and some privacy. My one suggestion would be to have some larger serving dishes for sauces like tomato and tartare but it probably cuts back on waste to do it this way."

"After not visiting for years, we finally returned and enjoyed the Rump Steak and the classic burger, along with BBQ chicken wings as a starter. The food was excellent, and the staff were both friendly and welcoming. We ended up so full from our main courses that we unfortunately didn’t have room for dessert. The menu is impressive, especially the option to choose 3 or 5 sharing dishes instead of just 2. Although we opted for the main courses this time, we’ll definitely be trying the sharing plates (and dessert) on our next visit!"

"The pub has a wonderfully cozy atmosphere! I visited with a large group and ordered a burger with chips, which completely satisfied my craving. It's an excellent spot to enjoy dinner and drinks with friends. Despite the rain outside, I had some fantastic conversations while we sheltered inside. The service was attentive and quick. The only unusual thing was that they started playing music about halfway through our visit. Overall, it was a great experience!"

"Went here after walking downhill from Scarborough Castle of the hottest day in September (9/9/2023 . When we came in, the foreperson said that there may be some tables at the back that could fit us (tables and chairs on ground floor bolted down. We were barely able to fit in, so one of the members of staff, Julie, said that we could eat upstairs as the chair were able to be pulled out and would be more comfortable for us. I ordered the Large Haddock and my wife the Scampi and chips. We both agreed that these were the best of out respective meals that we've ever had. The batter on the haddock was nice and delicate with the fish itself cooked so well that it flaked away at the gentlest touch of the fork. My wife found her scampi was amazing and she passed me one. It was so fresh and juicy that I couldn't decide on whether I should have gone for that instead, but I have no regrets about having chosen the Haddock. Julie was very accommodating to us. We ordered two large cola's to go with our meals. When we told her we had walked down from Scarborough castle, she brought up a jug of water just to make sure we were kept hydrated. Wonderful Service and an amazing view of the harbour from the upstairs window. Will visit again next time we find ourselves in Scarborough."

"I called earlier in the day to reserve a table in the bar because we had two dogs, but I was informed that we couldn't book a table there. When we arrived at 5 PM, the bar was nearly empty, and we requested a menu, only to be told that food wouldn't be available until 7 PM as that was the only time slot allowed. There was no mention of needing to reserve a slot for ordering food in their advertising. Overall, it was quite disappointing, and I definitely wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Food rating: 1."

"The restaurant was recommended to us for their mussels and seafood dishes. So we decided to drive over from Padstow on our way home on the last day. It’s a wonderful little restaurant which is dog friendly which was good for our little dog. We had grilled sardines as starter's and both of us had a kilo of mussels which were absolutely delicious. Our little dog loved the sardines, in fact so much a lady on the next table came over to give her some of her own. We all laughed at this including the staff. The staff and owner are all super nice people. I asked the owner where we could possibly buy some fresh sardines from to bring home with us. He immediately asked would 12 be ok and packed them on ice for us to bring back home to Nottinghamshire. I cannot praise the staff so much, we will definitely go there again when we are in Cornwall. Thank you Sam’s for making the end of our holiday unforgettable. Hope to see you all again soon Nina and Mike"

"Really lovely place with great food. I would say the portions are generous, and you will probably make a pig of yourself, but it's worth it as the food is delicious. The drinks menu is good, and you can get a cocktail, beer, or milkshake to go with your food. Service was quick, and the ladies' serving were so nice and friendly. It's not a huge place, so you must book otherwise you may be disappointed (like we were on our visit the year before as we couldn't get in). I would definitely recommend visiting."

"Unfortunately, I was disappointed by my dining experience at this restaurant. The menu lacked originality with options like a mushroom and jackfruit burger, mushroom pie, and cauliflower tacos. The pie was flavorless and the crust was overly dense. The jackfruit in the burger was overshadowed by an overly sweet BBQ sauce. Additionally, the staff could not assure that the chips were prepared separately from meat or fish. Overall, I would not return to this restaurant due to the limited variety of dishes and lack of diverse ingredients."

"This used to be my favourite place to eat out. Went there for my birthday there, thinking it was the same, only to be hugely disappointed. New owners now, and the food was not enjoyable. "Booked a table for today (Thursday 19th August) and had an email confirmation. When we turned up the place was closed due to short staffing. Appreciate this would be beyond their control but some kind of communication or contact would have been nice to tell us our booking was cancelled, which would have saved us the disappointment and wasted journey. "We read reviews before we booked as we were travelling to Manchester airport and staying in the Premier Inn for our holiday. We took our two sons at 6pm on a Saturday and the food was divine! Service was perfect and the pub inside and out is beautiful It was so good, when we returned to Manchester airport on the Wednesday afternoon, we popped back into the Tatton Arms with our boys for another meal. I had the steak pie this time and it did not disappoint! We only wished it was on our doorstep (West Yorkshire!! . Our eldest does like to visit the airport though yo view the planes so I'm sure we do that more often just to visit the pub for our food. As we left on the Saturday night, a plane flew rught above us in the car park and our eldest loved it. It timed just right as he's an avid airplane fan! Our son had the burger twice as he said its the best he's ever had! Our youngest had good old bangers and mash both times. "Food: 10/10 Price: Delivery time: super speedy I have both visited this establishment in person and had deliveries and in both cases have thoroughly enjoyed the meals that I have received. This time round, I had a delivery of their new special box, which features a cheeseburger, mini mozzarella sticks, halloumi fries, a generous portion of fries and several dips to use, which was fantastic and definitely a feast enough for two people. This was as well as the deep fried Mars bar which was lightly dusted in powdered sugar and coupled with crushed Oreos and Biscoff spread. Amazing. Would happily just eat a few portions of the Mars bars alone! Absolutely amazing, would definitely recommend to anyone in the area or those travelling and wanting some good food to eat."
