"This place is truly a hidden gem. It's quirky and charming, with an extensive menu that has something for everyone. The food is delicious, and the staff is wonderful. We started with the sticky chicken pudding, which may be the best I've ever had, along with the black pudding and haggis fritters, which were fantastic. For main courses, I had the gnocchi with spinach, while my mother enjoyed the chicken, leek, and mushroom cake, which was amazing. For dessert, we shared the tablet bakery sundae, featuring chocolate brownie, caramel shortcake, and flapjack – absolutely delicious! I can't wait to return and try more of the menu. I highly recommend this place, and it's also dog-friendly!"

"I do not recommend ordering the fresh prawns at this restaurant as they were not fresh at all. They were served cold and seemed to have been recently defrosted, with a strong fishy odor and some unpleasant residue inside. They were served without any lemon or seasoning, only the unpleasant smell. After eating, I had to stop at the store for Imodium as I felt I might become ill. The burger main dish was also disappointing, as it was tasteless, dry, and lacking seasoning. For £14.50, it was not a good value for money, as it only came with a burger and chips, with no slaw or relish. I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"I had two pints of Hawkshead bitter,a lovely pint. The atmosphere and ambience is excellent! A real comfortable English pub,one that I've drank in intermittently over the years! I used to live in Lancaster,but moved away years ago,only visit occasionally. The history behind the establishment is intriguing."

"We were part of a far larger group booked in for the adjacent function room on a Saturday evening. Assembling early ourselves and another couple booked a table to eat before the proceedings... well, oh my days 4 completely different dishes all arrived together, with a side and everything was cooked to perfection. We really did have service with a smile, and that was from all the staff who obviously enjoyed their work. I cannot recommend this place highly enough we're a tough crowd at the best of times and we arrived hungry!"

"Dived into here on a wet day to get something to eat, was greeted with excellent service from start to finish from a friendly bunch of staff. Bacon cheeseburger was flavourful and chilli con carne delicious, kids meal was much better than most places we have been, based on experience, with proper chicken breast used in the goujons. Finished off with some hot chocolate and ice cream. Highly recommended"

"Me and my boyfriend enjoyed a lovely Sunday carvery. Right from when we got into the bar, the staff were lovely and welcoming. Even when other people were being quite loud on the table next to us, they asked if they were being too noisy for us (they weren’t and we were fine, but it was nice of staff to be so considerate and ask us). I called and booked the day before and was told it was a ‘half carvery’ this Sunday,. This meant you have your meat, roast potatoes and Yorkshire puddings served for you and then you serve your own vegetables and gravy. Despite this, we were asked if we wanted more of anything as they served so it’s still as much food as you would like. The choices of meat today were turkey and beef, we had both and they were lovely. The vegetables on offer were peas and carrots, which we were happy with but I can understand that some people may like more options. We also had dessert, I had treacle pudding and custard and my boyfriend had apple crumble and ice cream. Both desserts were very nice. We both really enjoyed our afternoon and for both meals, desserts and 4 off drinks between us the bill came to around £55 which we think was well worth it for the food and drink we had I definitely recommend if you are in the area and we will be visiting again."

"After we were in the course of the years to dinner here, we decided to book into a room for the night. our room had a flow view, was super clean, tastefully decorated and had a comfortable bed. the evening meal was first-class as always. we chose fish and chips, the regular size was very generous. bar prices very reasonable as the wee. it was nice to both have a glass of wine with our dinner! the breakfast was included in the room price and was excellent. Overall, I would say a very inexpensive stay, pleasant environment, fantastic view and very attentive staff. we will return!"

"Unfortunately not a great choice of beers. To eat, we ordered pork souvlaki and lamb chop as main courses 14 each). The pork was supposed to be marinated but came out pretty dry and tasteless. Not a big portion either (2 small-ish skewers). The tzatziki...was watery and hardly tasted of garlic. The salad was mainly limp iceberg lettuce with a watery yogurt dressing on pretty tasteless as well. The chips were good and the pitta was warm. But overall very bland and basic for the prices. The lamb chop was purely fatty and grizzly, there was hardly any proper meat on it. It had a very strong taste and seemed a very cheap cut. Vegetables served with the lamb were OK but again pretty cheap-tasting. Chopped-up, oily aubergine is a bit of an odd choice for a veg side dish, though. Service wasn't brilliant, either, we had to remind them twice to bring the tap water we had asked for with our other drinks. Nobody came and asked if we wanted any sauces (ketchup) or how or meal was, not even at the end when we paid. For those prices, I would have expected a relatively decent meal (not just made up of cheap ingredients) and half-way decent table service. The descriptions of the dishes on the specials board sound great and sophisticated, but unfortunately they don't live up to the hype. I only saw after our visit (on their Facebook page) that they are looking for a new chef. I wish I had known that before. I wouldn't go again, unfortunately. Ah yes, the table surface was sticky, too. No Covid measures in place whatsoever."

"Every time we go to 7Bone in Newbury, we are welcomed by friendly staff and receive excellent service throughout our visit. The food is consistently great, but our experience this evening was exceptional! The fries were perfectly crispy, the halloumi fries were delicious, and the beef burger (Prince Charles with two smashed patties) was the best I've ever had. To top it off, we indulged in a Biscoff ice cream sundae - we were stuffed! Bart provided exceptional service, as always. Thank you!"

"We visited for dinner having just arrived for a long weekend. The service was pretty poor to be honest, the staff weren’t terribly friendly but we were seated and ordered drinks and some starters. The starters came before our drinks which wasn’t ideal, I had to get up and go to the bar and check our drinks were coming. Our mains then arrived, which were fine, although my pork was a little tough, we’d asked for a bottle of wine when the mains arrived, but again I had to get up and ask for the wine as we were already half way through our main courses. Oh and those tacky walkie talkie ear pieces were nearly dangling into the food when it was being served. Haven’t been here for a while and won’t rush back. Service: 3 Location: 4"

"Visited 3 weeks ago and this was our first time here even though we spend most of our summers in llanrug. Excellent 2 course Sunday lunch. All home cooked and absolutely delicious. "What a fantastic little hidden gem of a pub! The charming and quirky interior reminds me of a cozy old-fashioned country house living room. There's a great selection of drinks, including authentic cask ales, served by friendly and attentive staff in a small nook. The food was enjoyable, with plenty of options on the menu, including a nice variety of appetizers and light bites, as well as well-prepared pub favorites and an extensive burger selection. I will definitely return after a hike or bike ride in the picturesque countryside, as it’s the perfect spot to take a break. Currently, they are open three evenings a week and Sunday afternoons, but I hope they expand their hours to include Friday and Saturday during the summer. Hikers need to refuel! A big thank you to the staff for a wonderful evening."

"fabulous family dinner last night! 4 adult and a teenager. friendly, happy staff and great service. can recommend the black pudding and speck starter. not locally we have never been a parmo and they are fabulous, huge with by-shalat, homemade chips and koleslaw. my son had the brownie, the fab slept and also tasted. very recommend brilliant worth, we were so far away! natives seem to be happy to have jackie back in the kitchen and we agree!"

"New management and it shows!! We 've always been regulars but we stopped whilst it changed hands. My sister visited and said it was new management and much better so we gave it another go. It was lovely. Food was perfect, exactly how we requested it, very good quality and good prices. One waitress was abrupt but the other staff and new manager more than made up for that. Clean, tidy and the lovely old atmosphere is back. Hats off to the new manager because he has turned it around within a few days looking forward to becoming regulars again."

"Every time I walk by this restaurant, it's usually quite busy. However, yesterday it looked quiet, so we decided to park and sit near the window for lunch. I ordered the faggots, which were served in a fantastic gravy and tasted delicious. I also had the steak and ale pie (thanks to my hearty breakfast!). My aunt chose the fish cake, which was packed with fish but a bit on the dry side. I think next time we’ll all opt for the faggots! We enjoyed our coffee outside while watching the narrowboats pass by. It's also a great spot to take your dog."

"I had a vegetarian meal at this restaurant and was seated at a table near the kitchen, which made the meat cooking smells quite overwhelming and left me feeling uneasy. I waited for over an hour and a half for my food, and when it finally arrived, it was underwhelming and not worth the £15 price tag for a veggie burger and chips. I requested it without a bun, but there was no price reduction for that. I could see into the kitchen and noticed the chef plating food with his bare hands, which was concerning. Many customers were inquiring about their orders, and the waitstaff appeared overworked. One intoxicated patron was particularly abusive toward an Italian waitress who struggled with English, which only seemed to frustrate him further. Several diners were leaving in dissatisfaction. The outdoor area was quite busy, making it loud and chaotic with people drinking, some excessively. While the yard was dog-friendly, the restrooms were just okay, not great. Given my experience, I certainly won't be returning. Overall, I found the food and drinks to be overpriced."

"First time visited for a family celebration. We didn’t realise how busy it would be which we admit was our fault but where we were sat was dark and dingy, the noise was absolutely HORRENDOUS,the food was not good at all. After we had finished or should I say left our food we sat forever to have the plates and empty glasses to be removed and in the end had to go to the bar and ask for someone to clear the tables. This is not the service we expected especially from a city centre venue. The staff we had any dealings with were not friendly which didn’t help how we felt our experience had left. Sadly we would not return and would not recommend to our friends."
