"I seem to be going against the crowd here, but I wasn't very impressed. The decor is lovely, and the service is good, but the food was pretty average. They do have a gluten free menu which is helpful, but I ordered the chicken in a cream sauce with mushrooms, and that was really not what I got. My chicken had been cooked in a red wine with lots of tomato, there were mushrooms, but the sauce was not creamy, and was barely thickened from the braising liquid. Hubby had gluten free pumpkin soup for starters and did like that, so I suppose the dishes were hit and miss."

"Very disappointed with one turkey dinner (lots of gristle) and bill did not deduct deposit I had paid previously -this should have been done automatically it was only because I checked that it came to light. Please get this sorted out. A bad mistake!"

"We had a very pleasant evening overall. The ambience was very friendly and convivial. The service was professional and very attentive and the food was well prepared and very delicious. This being said, there were a few slip-ups. When we arrived the receptionist could not find our reservation and it took a while until they could find it. The portion sizes were very small and as a result the meal did not seem to be very good value."

"Been here numerous times to buy food (sandwich etc) for flights. I usually visit in the mornings and they are open early, are generally efficient at the tills and well stocked in the mornings. Food is normal Pret sandwiches and salads of the same standard as other Pret stores. On the last visit I was very pleased they are serving again the baguette of brie, tomato and mozzarella which I still can’t get at my local Pret. My baguette was lovely and fresh and my husband had the bacon/egg baguette, which he enjoyed. I also had a mango/lime pot and a dark chocolate and almond cookie (these are lovely). One disappointment if coming for breakfast is that Pret has stopped making porridge with non-dairy milk (no idea why as plant eating is on the increase). Although there is seating in this store it is quite cramped as it is always busy with people queuing and the seats are around the queue/entrance so not the most relaxing places to sit and eat and wait but great for take-away."

"We found the menus to be quite complicated. There were six of us eating and two if us arrived a bit late. Overall I found the street food dishes to be delicious and we ordered of them on the advice of the friendly waitress. We mainly stuck to that menu. Two of us shared a bottle of white wine and that menu choice was limited options from memory. The rest drank beer. I also had a margarita which was fab. We had tacos and salsaguacamole dips to start as well all very nice. Some of us ordered dessert the donuts with choc dip v average and a tart which was like a creme caramel no pastrybiscuit base which they weren't expecting. Overall I would go back but the I have to say the service from the chap waiter who took over when we moved to a bigger table helped to complicate it all for us. He seemed as confused as we were at times"

"Located inside the Intercontinental Hotel on George Street, this restaurant serves as a breakfast lounge, bar, and dining room. The name of the restaurant is a nod to its history as a printing press. The decor has a slightly dated feel, with dark and dim lighting and retro light fixtures. The drinks menu features cocktails named after famous people and their preferred drinks. However, the food menu is average and uninspired, feeling like it belongs to another era. The dishes themselves fell short of expectations, with the cod appearing undercooked and the accompanying side dish being cold. The charcuterie board also failed to impress. With so many other excellent dining options in Edinburgh, I will not be returning to this restaurant."

"Food was excellent. Not cheap, though I guess this is central London. Surprised that there was no one else in the restaurant all the time we were there, from 6pm onward on a Saturday night. Service was good, not above and beyond. All in all, good choice for a birthday celebration and I would probably go back."

"St John is the much loved London institution started in 1994 by the legendary Fergus Henderson. Fergus is well known in global chef circles for his nose to tail cooking style. His roasted bone marrow parsley salad has been 'copied ' by many a chef. That fact that St John has been busy since the day it launched is testament to Fergus ' unique style that hasn 't waived in twenty years and yet seems impossible for anyone else to replicate. Bread Wine is the younger sibling to 'St John '. St John is a little more formal, whereas Bread Wine is informal, more casual, loud, relaxed, family friendly. It 's a bustling open restaurant restaurant that serves very grown up food. We love it, it 's our favourite restaurant in London and if we lived in Shoreditch we 'd have a standing reservation."

"came to pret to do my writing work. because of the government campaign eat out, all invaders were 50% off. this worked well and the sale was reduced by my bill without request. good, spacious seating area for people who want to do something work. seats were slightly creepy and scattered in a way that made the place look less stylish than it could have been. otherwise the cappuccino and baguette I had were excellent."

"Well when we got there, the reception could not find our reservation as while it was made on Open Table they could not see it on their booking system. The 1st receptionist never apologised for it but then the host found it and did apologise and showed us to the table with a strict 1.5hr turnaround. There was no time for dessert or coffee."

"Chenestons is a wonderful find! We couldn’t have had a more superb experience. Leo and Julia are really excellent – their customer service is outstanding. All the other staff were equally superb, warm and genuine, I didn’t catch their names. It really is a special place and I was so excited because some of my favourite music is Glenn Miller and Al Bowlly and this was gently playing in the background which enhances the 1930s and 40s feel of the place. I was in utter heaven! The food was wonderful. We had help choosing our wine and Leo understood exactly what we liked and what would match our food and he didn’t oversell or make us choose a really expensive bottle. We appreciated this very much. The cauliflower starter was exquisite as was my smoked salmon. My halibut was gorgeous and my fiancé’s chicken pie was perfect. We visited for lunch before the Proms that evening and it really was a day we will never forget. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to come back."

"Booked a table on Saturday for a simple dinner for 2 before a birthday party. On arrival to the almost empty restaurant, I was promptly given a table by a fire exit, (which I asked to change to a table away from the door and in a more pleasant part of the restaurant). The chair at the first table had also seen better days and sank down as soon as I tried to sit in it, which was another reason I asked to move. On being seated at my new table I was given 1 menu, even though I had booked a table for two. The waiter seemed disinterested frankly. When my partner arrived she was left to sit at the table for quite a while without a menu until we requested one. We ordered our meals and drinks, then had to ask again for bread, instead of it being brought to us. The first course of fried calamari was tasteless and bland, with more breading than squid and at £15 a portion it was not good value at all. When asked if I enjoyed my starter, I told the waiter that I didn’t like it as it was very dry. My £16 spaghetti crab was smothered in tomato sauce and it could have been any kind of protein in there, tuna, sardine, it’s impossible to tell. My partners seafood orecchiette was adequate, but was still £18 Desert was a dark pannocotta which was ok. £8, we asked to share one and two were brought to us, so 1 was sent back. The bill came to £115 (including an obligatory 12.5% service charge), and with a top table discount on the starters and mains knocking £30 off that total to make it £85, I really don’t feel this place is either good value for money or worth visiting again. The food was bland and indifferent, much like the waiting staff and the decor. I feel this is a tired West End restaurant, knocking out overpriced and sub standard food to people on business or shopping. If you are going to spend £100 you should expect a great meal and considerate service. This was very far from that."

"The service at this restaurant was slow, as we had to ask for drinks and food menus, as well as for our orders to be taken. Despite arriving before others, we were served after them. I opted for the duck with honey roasted vegetables, as there was no vegetarian option available. Unfortunately, the duck was tougher than expected, so I didn't eat much of it. The staff were understanding and removed the cost of the dish from our bill. The desserts were delicious, and the atmosphere was lovely. The neighboring bar was busy and bustling. Overall, it's a great place to visit with friends. Although my meal was disappointing, I would still return to try something else on the menu."

"beautiful cocktails and bare food are the brand name of ember london, an elegant and slightly mysterious cellar barbarity that has recently been opened only a few steps from the monument station. the ex-head chef chef by peter Gordon’s kopapa) of the chef jonathan villar with small tellers and raised barbissen is a compilation of attractively designed and more exotic oriented. the best amount of it could be the smoked kangarous fillet wellington and haggis, shiiitake mushrooms, bok choy, wasabi kartoffel cream and shao hsing wein jus £14.50) pretentious, but tasty. less affected and even tastier is the kalamansi-hardened braided otopus with gochugaru chili, Thai schalottes, mint, sweet basilikum and pawpaw £8,90) also delicious is the wagyu and foie gras burgazier with smoked miso relish, sugar-hardened streaky bacon, sriracha mayonna"

"Haven't been here for a while after a couple of bad experiences (after quite a few good experiences .. was better, service was good except getting the bill paid which took forever for the card machine to arrive.. noticed another table also having to resort to going over to the kiosk. Starters were good.. tartar (although the egg was over cooked and a bit hard.. . Main courses were mostly ok, although I opted for the Tom's Burger which wasn't too impressive. Overall, would come back but still some improvement to be had.."

"I took a Valentine menu with so-called 2 courses. I thought I could take a main dish and a dessert. it also means 2 courses. I was surprised that only I got the bill, there was a misunderstanding that no one explained before....what the problem to take a main dish and dessert?.so finally it was more expensive than expected. I was very disappointed. it was not mentioned in the menu"

"The Grand was absolutely amazing! The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. Mariana, who handled our booking, went above and beyond to meet our requirements. On the day we visited, Romana took care of our large group of 20 girls, and everything was perfect. I can't praise Romana enough; she was the best hostess we could have asked for. She managed everything flawlessly, and we felt well taken care of throughout our visit. We will definitely be returning. Thank you so much for the wonderful hospitality!"
