"We stopped for coffee at Le Pain Quotidien before catching Eurostar. There were 4 or 5 tables outside the restaurant but the staff appeared to only clean the two nearest the entrance to the eatery and empty take away cups etc soon built up on the table next to us. An elderly American gentleman sat down at the table after going in an ordering a coffee and a pastry. The waiter came out, cleaned one of the tables near the door and ignored the rubbish covered table the elderly man sat at. I didn’t like the idea of him sitting there eating his food at a table covered in rubbish (same as I would feel if he were my Dad so I went in and politely asked a member of staff if someone could clear the table for him when they had a minute. A man came over and asked what the problem was and I explained again. He then said that he and his staff concentrated on the people who bought sit down meals and didn’t bother with people who bought take away. He said they shouldn’t sit at the tables anyway. This is despite the fact that the gentleman had bought his food from Le Pain Quotidien. The member of staff, (Manager? then just walked away. Finally, when challenged by the old man's son, who had joined him at the table, another staff member that was yet again cleaning the table next to the dirty one cleared the table for them. I read that the company has gone into administration and that the St Pancras branch was the only one left. Well, if this is their idea so customer service I am not surprised by the news at all."

"the cafe miami offers a varied brunch in clapton with a combination of the aromas of miami – traditional and modern American with Mexican Spanish influences. the interiors are minimalist with light blue and pink decor around the caffe with exposed light rays scattered around the tables. there are various smoothies, juices and milkshakes in offer and the hot drinks are served with heart-shaped sugar cubes! we visited for cinnamon roll pancakes with cream cheese frosting £10) and speck £2). we were certainly not disappointed! they were melted in their mouth delicious and the cream cheese frosting was to die. the sweet and hearty worked with the speck, although we would like to be craspier. the musella filled pancakes and heifers and banana pancakes also on the menu looked quite epic. we also tucked into the huevos rancheros: two fried eggs, tortilla, again fried beans, spicy tomato sauce, coriander £9.5) chorizo £2). this brunch dish was tasteful with a mix of textures with the crispy tortillas on the top. the chorizo added an additional kick and it was a very filling and delicious brunch dish. cafe miami offers a great brunch in clapton and these cinnamon roll pancakes are worth to travel! we would have preferred the service to enjoy a bit more, but it is still a great place to relax with friends at the weekend."

"Very cute coffee shop with a lot of options for coffee, pastries and sandwiches. I walked to this location as the other one was unexpectedly closed (it was meant to be open according to google, and there were no explanations of the other shop being closed on instagram etc. so it was pretty confusing). Nevertheless it was a lovely walk over. The coffee was nice and flavourful. Guilty Pleasure blend is very strong tasting and is what they use in their espresso and I ended up buying a bag to bring home."

"We had a great experience at this restaurant, which is located by the river on a beautiful sunny Sunday morning. The staff was friendly, the atmosphere was clean, and we chose to sit outside. I ordered the vegetarian breakfast bowl and my daughter had the French toast with chocolate and a crispy crumb topping. The restaurant wasn't very crowded, but we had to wait nearly half an hour for our food. The presentation was nice, but my daughter found a long hair on her French toast and my fried egg was overcooked and the toast was cold. It was disappointing, as a perfectly cooked egg yolk over avocado and mushrooms with delicious sun-dried tomatoes could have been perfect. These small issues aside, if the restaurant could improve on these details, it would be exceptional."

"The coffee at TR is tasty, but the service can be a bit disorganized. Despite this, the staff is polite. I visit almost every week, but my order is often incorrect and I have to go up to the counter to ask for my food. The coffee is good, but considering the prices, I would expect better organization and efficiency. There are plenty of staff behind the counter, but orders tend to get lost or mixed up. Overall, the food is rated a 4, service a 3, and atmosphere a 4. The cost per person is typically between £1-10 for a breakfast meal."

"Love this place. Since moving into the area 4 years ago, I can say for certain this is the best coffee shop in Crawley. In terms of coffee the coffee is just.. chefs kiss ! This is what a coffee is supposed to taste/be like! Great coffee, amazing service and great atmosphere. A chilled out place, perfect for a quick coffee stop whilst out with the dog. They are also pet friendly, which I love.. you'd think with dogs being apart of our lives for millions of years that there'd be more pet friendly places around.. however that's not the case. Crow is the only advertised pet friendly café around. Love that they welcome all! : The only thing is, I just wish (and yes I know it's a coffee shop they did a lunch menu just to top off the amazing coffee. Saying that I have bought quite a few homemade sandwiches on offer and they are just divine, clearly.. every sandwich made.. is made with love. Thanks guys :"

"This restaurant is a fantastic spot to grab some coffee and a snack. I personally enjoyed a sandwich and a slice of pistachio cake, which paired perfectly with a well-balanced long black coffee. In a neighborhood that lacks quality independent food and drink options, this place stands out as a gem. Despite the challenges of high rents and competition with popular tourist destinations nearby, I highly recommend this trendy spot."

"Came here on a week day.. Walking into the restaurant felt like I was abroad in Portugal.. Friendly waiter.. there was no rushing for us to make our orders.. I had a lovely Portuguese wine which really was delicious.. Onto the food .. Had mixed olives for starters which which were in a lovely sauce .. The waiter yet again gave us plenty of time, I had a sirloin steak which was amazing … not over cooked or under cooked it was just right .. fries with their skins on were perfect and veggies perfect .. I wasn’t able to eat it all as I’m not a bit eater but it was cooked to perfection.. the person I was with had ‘Meat skewer’ with veg and fries which I’m told was perfect.. Hence the reason we will be back again this week. After our meal we sat outside and had a lovely coffee, yet again not feeling rushed to go. Looking forward to going again"

"Absolutely terrible. Sat at a table, whilst another customer moved the rubbish off of the table they had just sat at onto ours (not enough staff to clear? I took two trays and countless other things inside to clear the table. Another older customer with a walking stick tripped down the step with his tray, I offered to carry it to his table as again no one else seemed available. Ordered two hot chocolates was not asked a single thing (small/large, drink in/takeaway, anything else . Sat down and realised both were cold. Took them back in and was made new drinks by a member of staff who seemed so annoyed I ended up apologising!! So I'm £8 down, have cleared up two of your tables of items but not stickiness, sat on a chair with birds poo over it.... and apologised for the inconvenience I caused you all!"

"I recently visited Podda and Wren coffee shop, first stopping by for takeaway during the Christmas season. The shop is conveniently located and offers delicious cakes. I believe it would benefit from a refurbishment and the option for customers to sit in. I returned with my family to enjoy tea and cake, and found the owners to be very friendly. We also grabbed some more takeaway cake and pies. In November 2023, I came across their mobile coffee van at Kendal Mountain Festival, where I enjoyed excellent coffee and cake. I revisited in December 2023 and noticed they had added more decorations and seats. This venue prioritizes ethics, with no dairy products on site and a commitment to responsibly sourcing coffee, tea, and chocolate. Overall, a wonderful spot for a treat!"

"Poor show. Used this place many times before, sudden change of staff and now this café has hit rock-bottom. Ordered two breakfasts to include one vegetarian with poached eggs, we were warned by the waiter it would take approx thirty mins. Five mins later, two meat breakfasts with fried eggs were brought to us by a very young girl. We explained this was wrong, she promised to 'fix it ' and would come straight back. Smiling on return, she brought the same breakfast back with a gap on the plate, the meat had simply been removed, no sign of any smashed avocado!! At this point the orignal waiter intervened and now explained they were unable to poach eggs due to lack of vinegar, would I like an extra mushroom as consolation! The other breakfast had approx 7 baked beans swimming in a pool of tomato sauce! Most of the food was cold. Scabby enamel teapot, dirty menu and toilet facilities no better. £31.50 rip off!! A full on Fawlty Towers experience, without the laughs.."

"We visited the Fika cafe recently while on holiday in the area. We initially received a warm welcome. We ordered two cappuccino coffees and a scone. The coffees were very nice and well presented. Unfortunately our experience went down hill from there. There were two seats at the window which we went to sit at. We were advised that these seats were reserved for 2 pm. This was about 1.40 pm so we went to other seats in case the people came in early. The cafe is very small and there is not a lot of space. We ended up taking two seats next to the till area which was raised above the floor area below. Two apparently regular customers were sat in the corner. The proprietor employee had an ongoing conversation over our head with these customers to our total exclusion. This conduct totally undermined the initial friendly welcome and made us feel awkward and keen to leave. We would not recommend this cafe as a result and would not visit again."

"Me and my husband stumbled upon this lovely cafe whilst wondering round Kendal that seems to be mainly full of barbers and takeaways (sadly). It’s a hidden gem, lovely and simplistic, amazing cakes and great coffee. I think the table situation could be addressed as there are only large tables with 8 or 6 seats and the odd window seats. I’m fine sharing my coffee with other people but I know it would totally put some people off."

"I visited the bakery in December to buy some bread. I am new to the area and had no idea what the shop offers. I ordered a sourdough, paid and asked for it to be sliced. Before the sales assistant went off to slice it I asked him is there anywhere close by that I can buy some ham and salad. He replied there is nowhere in the old town and my nearest supermarket would be Morrisons. When he went to the back to slice the bread I decided to take a look around the store to check what else you sold. I was surprised to then find that you had a large selection of cold meats and salad. I took them to the till for purchase to the same assistant and asked him why he didn’t tell me that you had the items that I had enquired about. His reply; it’s quite expensive here and I don’t like to push products! A. What kind of people do you have working in your store? Someone that refused to let me know that you do indeed sell the food I was looking for. B. How can a shop assistant assume what my budget is for food and what I consider to be expensive or not!!!! No apology, no thank you and goodbye. Outrageous behaviour and what a shame this is what happened on my first visit! What is this discrimination or an assistant telling me where I should shop?? Completely unacceptable I have contacted judges baker via emails 3 times regarding this matter and they have so far not replied. So as they clearly do not care, I’ve decided to leave a public review"

"This restaurant tends to get quite busy, especially on weekends, so be sure to make a reservation. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, with an uplifting vibe and super friendly staff. The essence of this place lies in its commitment to local cuisine; it's truly a neighborhood gem. They serve excellent coffee and a standout breakfast hash featuring crispy chorizo, uniquely leafy spinach, and beets—a fantastic flavor combination. The Hoogah breakfast is immense, packed with various Nordic flavors that will keep you satisfied for the entire day! And don't miss out on the cinnamon buns and Nutella; they are as decadent and rich as you can imagine—an ideal treat. This spot is perfect for brunch but also great for any occasion."
