"the cafe miami offers a varied brunch in clapton with a combination of the aromas of miami – traditional and modern American with Mexican Spanish influences. the interiors are minimalist with light blue and pink decor around the caffe with exposed light rays scattered around the tables. there are various smoothies, juices and milkshakes in offer and the hot drinks are served with heart-shaped sugar cubes! we visited for cinnamon roll pancakes with cream cheese frosting £10) and speck £2). we were certainly not disappointed! they were melted in their mouth delicious and the cream cheese frosting was to die. the sweet and hearty worked with the speck, although we would like to be craspier. the musella filled pancakes and heifers and banana pancakes also on the menu looked quite epic. we also tucked into the huevos rancheros: two fried eggs, tortilla, again fried beans, spicy tomato sauce, coriander £9.5) chorizo £2). this brunch dish was tasteful with a mix of textures with the crispy tortillas on the top. the chorizo added an additional kick and it was a very filling and delicious brunch dish. cafe miami offers a great brunch in clapton and these cinnamon roll pancakes are worth to travel! we would have preferred the service to enjoy a bit more, but it is still a great place to relax with friends at the weekend."

"A party of 27 of us pre ordered food, they were emailed a speed sheet with every meal on. Most food turned up within a 30 minute slot, it was reasonably cooked. It's a shame we are still waiting for the party organisers food to arrive. We thought there was hope when some of the errant food arrived for others who had been left out. But alas no the party organiser went without. This is my second time to try the Left Bank or whatever they want to call themselves this month. It will certainly be the last, never again will I darken their doorstep."

"I have mixed feelings about Coffee Lab. I appreciate their support for small businesses and their amazing selection of vegan milks. The fact that they are dog-friendly is also a plus, and their food always has a homemade taste. However, my only issue is that they don't offer a wide variety of vegan options. Despite this, their staff is friendly and overall, I think they are a great spot."

"Fell upon it after a long walk up from the cricket match and later realized we’d been told to go for the grilled cheese! And also were admonished by a kind co-patron next to us to get the grilled cheese. So, we were dumb. Chalk it up to overstimulation from all the loveliness of Edinburgh in too short a visit, but also it just wasn’t that good. Lots of business, and most of that coffee. Lots of folks working away… now that I think of it, we didn’t even see any grilled cheese. Whatever, it’s a coffee shop with ok pastries but apparently a gluten-free persons haven!"

Vegetarian options: I highly recommend this place for vegetarians, as they offer a large selection of vegetarian dishes with a dedicated menu section. All vegetarian options are clearly labeled."

"Food is amazing. Chicken cooked to perfection, juicy, gluten-free, optional chilli or other sauces. The best chips, like French fries with a bit of skin, but so tasty. Cooked in olive oil? Both skin lovers and not keeners loved the chips. Basic but fresh salad...nice simple accompaniment. Gluten-free vinegar, salt and olive oil as condiments. Great bar. Recommend the (affordable) sangria was or Different sizes available) . Lovely, attentive service. Decor fun in a Portuguese /European way. Shop with Portuguese food at front of premises, tables tucked inside. Cafe area outside too. Will definitely return and try more dishes... With chips!! Surprised!"
"Poor show. Used this place many times before, sudden change of staff and now this café has hit rock-bottom. Ordered two breakfasts to include one vegetarian with poached eggs, we were warned by the waiter it would take approx thirty mins. Five mins later, two meat breakfasts with fried eggs were brought to us by a very young girl. We explained this was wrong, she promised to 'fix it ' and would come straight back. Smiling on return, she brought the same breakfast back with a gap on the plate, the meat had simply been removed, no sign of any smashed avocado!! At this point the orignal waiter intervened and now explained they were unable to poach eggs due to lack of vinegar, would I like an extra mushroom as consolation! The other breakfast had approx 7 baked beans swimming in a pool of tomato sauce! Most of the food was cold. Scabby enamel teapot, dirty menu and toilet facilities no better. £31.50 rip off!! A full on Fawlty Towers experience, without the laughs.."

"Banilla Bakery offers a great selection of vegan cakes, cookies, bread, scones, savouries and fantastic coffee and tea. The choice of cakes is huge so it's difficult to choose but are all homemade by owner Laura. We've had lime drizzle cake, biscoff cookies, cinnamon rolls, peanut butter cookies, carrot pecan muffin, Mac n cheese, homemade focaccia sandwich with roast vegetables, pesto cheese. All absolutely delicious. A visit to the Lakes wouldn't be the same without a visit to Banilla Bakery. Highly recommended. Updated from previous review on 2021-11-10"

"what a super-wee café that is, the day we visited the selection of the diners was cheese or cauliflower quiz. I decided for the cauliflower and it came with a partial salad. I also had English breakfast tee loose sheet) and I got a refill that was a nice note. it is worth coming from the high street and tasting the small caffes. we enjoyed our visit, it was nice to try something else, a very good experience."

"While TripAdvisor may indicate that they are closed, Melissa and Marrianne's The Bakery at No4 is definitely open for business. The atmosphere and hospitality were exceptional. We each indulged in a generous slice of delicious cake, accompanied by a good selection of teas and coffees. The bakery seemed to be bustling with customers, a testament to its popularity. Located just off the main pedestrian center, near the new butchers and M&S, it is a great spot to relax with a hot beverage while shopping in Kendal. I highly recommend a visit to Melissa and Marrianne's The Bakery at No4."

"This charming cafe is a must-visit. We tried the avocado, tomato, and hummus sandwich, which was delicious. They also offer a variety of plant-based milks. The atmosphere is fantastic, making it the perfect spot for a lunch before or after exploring the castle. We will definitely be back again."

"I visited the bakery in December to buy some bread. I am new to the area and had no idea what the shop offers. I ordered a sourdough, paid and asked for it to be sliced. Before the sales assistant went off to slice it I asked him is there anywhere close by that I can buy some ham and salad. He replied there is nowhere in the old town and my nearest supermarket would be Morrisons. When he went to the back to slice the bread I decided to take a look around the store to check what else you sold. I was surprised to then find that you had a large selection of cold meats and salad. I took them to the till for purchase to the same assistant and asked him why he didn’t tell me that you had the items that I had enquired about. His reply; it’s quite expensive here and I don’t like to push products! A. What kind of people do you have working in your store? Someone that refused to let me know that you do indeed sell the food I was looking for. B. How can a shop assistant assume what my budget is for food and what I consider to be expensive or not!!!! No apology, no thank you and goodbye. Outrageous behaviour and what a shame this is what happened on my first visit! What is this discrimination or an assistant telling me where I should shop?? Completely unacceptable I have contacted judges baker via emails 3 times regarding this matter and they have so far not replied. So as they clearly do not care, I’ve decided to leave a public review"

"Popped into Licc one Saturday afternoon. It has been ages since I 've been to this place. Used to visit all the time when my kids were younger. The ice cream was as devine as ever. I had 2 scoops in a tub, custard cream biscoff and peanut butter rolo. At £5.95 it was almost double what we used to pay, but to be fair, I did get a decent portion. Why I scored it 3 stars, well, the person serving me was actually quite rude. I was looking for change in my purse and asked how much it was, they replied (I kid you not) it 's on the board . The board was on a side wall, not in front of me, so I was not being a numpty! Was it too much effort to say those 3 words: five, ninety five '? When I then asked if it was OK to pay by card (as I didn 't have enough change), they laughed!!!! I couldn 't quite believe it. So to sum up, amazing ice-cream, service not so much."

"This restaurant tends to get quite busy, especially on weekends, so be sure to make a reservation. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, with an uplifting vibe and super friendly staff. The essence of this place lies in its commitment to local cuisine; it's truly a neighborhood gem. They serve excellent coffee and a standout breakfast hash featuring crispy chorizo, uniquely leafy spinach, and beets—a fantastic flavor combination. The Hoogah breakfast is immense, packed with various Nordic flavors that will keep you satisfied for the entire day! And don't miss out on the cinnamon buns and Nutella; they are as decadent and rich as you can imagine—an ideal treat. This spot is perfect for brunch but also great for any occasion."

"Overpriced and disappointing. While the restaurant offers unique activities like lino cutting and life drawing, the food and service were lacking. I ordered quiche and salad for £10, only to receive a tiny slice of quiche and some watercress on a small plate. After bringing this to the attention of the staff, they reluctantly brought me some lettuce leaves and another slice of quiche. The service was indifferent and lacked empathy towards the customer. The fixtures in the restaurant were also subpar, with unstable tables and poor wifi signal. Overall, a pretentious and overpriced experience that left much to be desired."
