"While TripAdvisor may indicate that they are closed, Melissa and Marrianne's The Bakery at No4 is definitely open for business. The atmosphere and hospitality were exceptional. We each indulged in a generous slice of delicious cake, accompanied by a good selection of teas and coffees. The bakery seemed to be bustling with customers, a testament to its popularity. Located just off the main pedestrian center, near the new butchers and M&S, it is a great spot to relax with a hot beverage while shopping in Kendal. I highly recommend a visit to Melissa and Marrianne's The Bakery at No4."

Had a fantastic veggie burger with fries on gluten free panini bread! They also have GF brownies and scones.

Popped in for light lunch and cake. My husband had a Mediterranean pie and I had cheese and onion quiche, huge portion. Both very tasty and good value. We then shared a coconut and cherry slice.

Love going here for good coffee and relaxed atmosphere. Cakes look great. I don't have sweet tooth and my only request would be that there are savouries eg cheese scones on more regularly. Had the Asparagus Tart today which was gorgeous.

I think this is my favourite place to go for cake in Kendal. The Guinness cake is amazing. I've had some exceptional blondies here including a cinnamon roll blondie that blew my mind. They do some delicious savory options too. Variety of seating and dog friendly.

New this coffee shop was there but hadn't been in. What a mistake! Popped in over the weekend, what can you say, the homemade cake selection was amazing. The 2 we tried were really good and tasty. Will be going back to try the rest. The coffee wasn't bad either. Would certainly recommend it, it's a lovely atmosphere and the staff are great.

Me and my husband stumbled upon this lovely cafe whilst wondering round Kendal that seems to be mainly full of barbers and takeaways (sadly). It’s a hidden gem, lovely and simplistic, amazing cakes and great coffee. I think the table situation could be addressed as there are only large tables with 8 or 6 seats and the odd window seats. I’m fine sharing my coffee with other people but I know it would totally put some people off.

"Staff were very friendly, welcoming and efficient. They were also very kind to our dog. We had drinks and food and though the drinks were good, the food was not. The words 'frozen ' and 'microwave ' were forefront in my mind throughout. The mash potato I had with my pie was face meltingly hot suggesting the microwave was used, and my wife 's battered fish was mushy and watery suggesting it was deep fried from frozen. The batter was also only about 1mm thick and was like wise mushy. The meat in my chunky steak pie was definatly chunky but was a little too firm (not tough, just not tender. Probably the wrong cut of meat rather than badly cooked). I then had the caramel apple pie as did another member of my party. While his was hot, mine was cold. I had mine with cream which when it arrived, had bubbles in and was luke warm. What I think happened was that mine was microwaved first and then drowned in cream and left to sit while the other was microwaved. This mean mine cooled in the cream while the cream warmed. It also meant that the pastry on the bottom went soggy, and from the rest of the pastry, it didn 't seem like it had much crisp to begin with. Now I know that times are hard and pubs like this can 't be expected to make everything from scratch, but there are 3 other pubs close by and unfortunately this one is doing nothing to stand out from the others, in terms of food anyway. Overall, a nice place for a quiet drink, but I 'll not be back for the food. The only saving grace was the price; £80 for 2 rounds of drinks (1 pint, 1 coke and 2 halves per round), 4 mains and 2 desserts...I suppose you get that you pay for though..."
