"This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. I ordered a medium-rare steak, but it arrived almost completely raw. When I brought this to the manager's attention, he insisted that I was mistaken and that this was how medium-rare was typically served. He eventually agreed to provide me with a new medium-rare steak, but it turned out to be even more raw than the first one. It was practically bleeding, which is definitely not what you would expect from a properly cooked medium-rare steak. To top it off, the manager was quite rude. I noticed that he was wearing his mask improperly, hanging below his mouth, and none of the staff seemed to be washing their hands. Additionally, the table was sticky. Overall, it was a very disappointing experience."

"Went with a friend and we wanted to pay for our own items, the man who handed us the bill said if we want to pay individually we can use the app, when we said we want to use card the server said we can work it out ourselves and he stormed off like a child???? No clue what his problem was, then we sat there for several minutes waiting for him to return because he didn't want to wait for us to do a simple sum. Appalling behaviour."

"I’ve never been to an Ask Italian before, but my mother in law is a fan of their lasagne and wanted to take the family out. Initially staff were very friendly and helpful with our allergy needs. However, one person at our table ordered a...margarita with red peppers and, when it arrived with no red peppers, was told ‘they blended the red peppers into the sauce’. This is despite the fact my own pizza had red peppers on top… They were very slow to clear our plates, then even slower to bring out the dessert menu. When they eventually did, we were told that 5 of the desserts were unavailable because ‘we’d ordered them but they hadn’t arrived’. It would have been nice to know that before we chose our desserts. They didn’t seem busy or rushed off their feet. The chefs at the pizza oven were stood around with nothing to do for 10-15 minutes and one server was on his phone for a while. Not sure why they were so slow to serve and felt the need to lie about a wrong order!"

"Great scran that. I smashed in the prawns, she had lasagne nuggets, I'm told they were lush. Wor lass had a salami misti pizza, she never said a word to me until the last slice, when help was required. Naturally, as a top lad, I consumed the rest of it for her. I had Brisket Pappardelle A.KA. posh spag bol. 100% pure taste, I got extra chilli in mine, would recommend. Great service canny food. Service: Dine in"

"Visited last night for my son's 21st birthday. Esther, Chantelle and Josh were our servers and we had absolutely excellent service. They were warm, friendly and helpful, despite them being clearly rushed off their feet in a busy restaurant. The chefs did an amazing job, the food was delicious, piping hot, and all came out together, despite us being a large party. We had a lovely evening!"

"Came here for the first time ever with my boyfriend for our anniversary dinner and was so excited to try the carbonara as it looked so good on the picture on the online menu. When it came out it looked nothing like the picture, it was genuinely just boiled pasta with olive oil and cheese. It tasted watery, bland and oily with absolutely NO ham at all!! I told one of the waiters that I had ordered a carbonara and was presented with what seemed to be plain linguine to which he responded ‘just needs a bit more sauce’. They brought out my dish again and this time it had ham on it although it still looked nothing like advertised. I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave it a taste and it tasted the exact same. Bland, oily boiled pasta. I genuinely lost my appetite after 3 bites and felt scammed that this dish was £14 so I tried to call over a waiter and this is when the TERRIBLE customer service kicked in. I understand that the restaurant was busy but I was sat there for about 20 minutes with my hand up and said excuse me to every waiter that walked by just to get ignored. It was honestly humiliating. I finally got the attention of a waiter who didn’t come over and instead told me to wait and he’d be over in a minute but after 10 minutes of waiting he still didn’t come over and in the mean time we were STILL trying to speak to a waiter. Meanwhile I heard a man behind us, complaining about cold pasta and I went to ask him if he had complained, and he said that he did and they managed to take it off the bill. Finally a waiter came and I told him about the disgrace of a carbonara that was served to me and I asked for it to be taken off the bill to which he apologised and agreed to do. Then we just sat around waiting 30 minutes for anyone to come back and give us the bill. I was so upset and frustrated I was trying to hold back tears as I was REALLY looking forward to eating here for our date (I was so hungry too lol). Then it got even worse… the waiter had just gone to get us a bill to which another waiter came up to us and asked us if we wanted the bill. I told her it was already getting taken care of but then she came back with the bill full price without taking off the price of the carbonara. I told her we were meant to have the carbonara taken off the bill to which she crumpled the receipt in my boyfriend’s face, scoffed and walked off. We then had about 4 waiters crowded around us over this issue which was really overwhelming and embarrassing. The waiter came back with a new ‘upgraded’ bill to which she said the manager had given us a ‘manager discount’ of £7 off, I was appalled as we had been told that the carbonara would be completely taken off the bill as I didn’t even eat it and not some measly £7 discount. After arguing with her, she told me that I had to speak to the manager if I wanted it changed so I demanded to speak to the manager but never got to, it’s whatever because the waiter finally came back with the THIRD bill which took off the carbonara. All that hassle just to leave with an empty stomach. It was honestly the worst restaurant experience of my life, I cried as soon as I got home because it was so frustrating and humiliating. This is my first time writing a review on anything but the food the customer service was so bad that I felt compelled to write this review. Do yourself a favour and never visit this restaurant. It needs a lot of work. I also have pictures of my bland pasta and all the receipts. I understand that maybe they are a troubled restaurant and low on staff but the bland food is definitely not worth the extortionate price. The customer service was terrible as well and usually I’m quite compassionate towards waiters as I know it’s a rough job, but they didn’t even come to check on us once. We practically had to beg to be heard out. As a restaurant please do better, I sincerely don’t want anyone else having this bad of an experience."

"A very busy Friday evening in Norwich with the fireworks at I booked the table for of us at arrived and were shown immediately to our table. With a seven year old and a nine year old they enjoyed their meal of pasta, dunk and dip. The waiter was very attentive and dealt with them very well. They enjoyed the meal. Everything ordered came out together in a timely way even though the restaurant was filling up. My wife had a pizza that she enjoyed. Altogether a nice evening meal for generations"

"Arguably one of Britain’s favourite restaurants but this one is a let down, we waited at the door for a solid 5 minutes before even being looked at which made my kids feel very uncomfortable. When we finnnallly got served we weren’t greeted with the smile you would expect when you are paying for someone’s services. We couldn’t stand this level of customer service so we just ordered online. A redeeming factor is that the online system is easy to navigate and to order from. From ordering online to receiving our food it took 45 minutes and what we got was cold and hard after being left under a heat lamp, and for the prices they charge it wasn’t worth the small flat pieces of cold chicken we got. The service was dismal at best and the cleanliness was very poor. I don’t believe in 1 star reviews so they are lucky to be getting a 2. Don’t go here."

"My visit here was a total shambles. Before I asked to only have one waitress serving us, I ordered a drink, one waiter took the order, another delivered it and when I asked to pay the bill, another waiter appeared asking if I would like to pay the bill. When I said I had already asked for the bill, yet another waiter appeared to once again ask if I wanted to pay the bill. Please can someone get the waiters to talk to each other to avoid this constant barrage of people asking for information they already had. During this process our table host kept on coming over to ask if everything was OK, which clearly it wasn't and then didn't really listen to our answer, he just laughed. Then he kept on standing watching the football match directly in my way as if we weren't there The food was ok, ribs were poor, the salt and pepper squid had raw cayenne on the outside which was unpleasant and the chicken wings by all accounts were fine On a visit to the loo, there was no loo paper and no soap in any of the dispensers Overall the feel is that management are out of their depth and someone needs to take charge to ensure things run smoothly sooner rather than later. If you are going for a drink and to watch the sport then it could be a decent venue if they sort the leaderless waitering team out, but there are much better sports bars in London based on my recent experience."

"Ummmm...YUM! Plus good service. 5 stars in my book. We were in search of something good to eat after a long day of walking and sight seeing in London. Baker Street was off the tube line on the way back to the hotel so we decided to stop here. We wandered around for a bit when a local sneezed on me and apologized. He asked if we were lost. We said no, just looking for somewhere good to eat that was kid friendly since we had my 16 month and 3 year old nieces with me. He pointed us down the street and said there was a few down that way. The first one we came across was ASK. There was also a sign outside that said Father 's Eat Free on Father 's Day! it was Father 's Day and my brother is all about free stuff so we went in. We were greeted warmly immediately and allowed to pick a table. We sat right in the front away from the other patrons because we know how the girls can get late at night especially when they are tired and hungry. The server brought over very cool jumbo wooden crayons for the girls to play with and also gave them some paper to color a Father 's Day message for my brother. Very cute. They offered to order us bread and we knew that it wasn 't free because we had a moment to see on the menu that there was a charge for it. We were STARVING so we went ahead and got some. I 'm so glad that we did. It was DELICIOUS. My 3 year old niece who is a very picky eater wanted more and more. She could have easily ate a whole order by herself. For our meals we decided to share a pizza and pasta dish amongst the three adults. We ordered the Caprina Primo Pizza and the Rigatoni di Manzo Piccante pasta dish. They both were EXCELLENT. The toppings on the pizza perfectly complimented each other and the pasta was probably one of the best I have ever consumed...and I have consumed a lot of pasta. We were definitely very pleased with our selections. Service was great until the end. Our server even helped us get the massive double stroller out the front door for us. We were definitely very pleased with our experience at ASK."

"We were a party of 16 friends who shared a set menu of starters, pizzas pasta. The whole evening was super great staff who were pleasant, knowledgable patient with our large party. An amazing variety of food delicious served with beautiful presentation care. Gluten free diets were easily catered for nothing was too much trouble. The puddings, coffee wine flowed we were under no pressure to leave at all even at 11pm. This really felt like a restaurant where the owners are present at the heart of a great team. Good luck to you all if you’re reading this stop right now book you won’t regret it!!"

"What an amazing interior. I’m sure it helps set the mood for your food. While the food was good it wasn’t as good as the decor. We had the set menu Sushi and avocado starters Duck rice and peanut roast chicken. The sushi perhaps in keeping with others here felt like a little dried out. Like it had been left out and it was room temperature. My avocado spicy salad was very nice. The chilli just subtly giving it a bite. Recommend. My duck rice was a disappointment for me but my partner liked it. I don’t like sweet savoury dishes. I do like sour. However even for me. This dish was so sour. I’m not sure if by design or too much use of lemon juice. I almost was crying out for a sweet sauce to balance it out. My partners chicken was a good sized portion and delicious. The peanut and spice dry sauce was great. I used some of her sauce to help with my rice. In fact I commented I should have asked for some sauce for my rice. To balance it out. The beer was served in a frosted glass which is nice touch for a U.K. restaurant. Used to this in Spain. Overall. Great atmosphere. Was busy. The setting is stunning. And at night time I can imagine the amazing floor looking even better. Recommend a visit still though."

"I made a reservation for 7:15 PM on Saturday, but when we arrived, the staff, who were very courteous and apologetic, informed us that there was a party of 200 next door, and all of their kitchen staff were tied up with that event. They told us that it would take at least 40 minutes to get our food, regardless of what we ordered. When we inquired if it might take longer, she mentioned that the same situation occurred the night before, and she suspected it would take much longer this time as well. I can’t understand why they don’t have enough staff available to serve customers. This was a special occasion for us, as we had family visiting from High Wycombe. I had initially booked a table at the Peacock, but chose this place for what I thought would be a special experience. In the end, we returned to the Peacock Inn, which served us immediately and saved our evening. I felt really embarrassed by the whole situation."

"A lively place to eat and the food prices are typical of similar establishments. However the customer service tonight was extremely slow with no communication. The starter came out just as bread however pretty certain it had accompanying dips sauces and once questioned on this the waiter panicked and provided balsamic vinegar which we didn't raise any further due to our hunger and being with children. The time between the starter and the mains was minutes which anyone with kids will know is a lifetime. This was a Saturday night so understandable but the fact there was no communication was infuriating. The head waitress lady I presume as she had a white shirt on did not raise a smile the entire time I seen her walk by and serve. Our waiter albeit was nice enough to deal with however was definitely not the sharpest tool in the box "

"We waited ages to be shown to a table, or even be acknowledged! Once we got to a table it took a long time before our orders were taken. Honestly we were debating whether to leave! We missed starters, and just went for mains and ordered our drinks. No one spoke to us and our drinks were delivered at the same time as our food. The restaurant wasn't busy and the staff seemed to be spending more time on their phones than with customers! Everyone was sitting waiting. The people behind us went to the till to get their bill they were fed up waiting for someone to come. The people next to us ordered desserts and waiting so long for them to come that they ended up checking to make sure the waitress had ordered them! People who cam in just behind us and waited equally as long to get a table ordered starters and had finished them and waited so long for their mains to come, we had finished eating and waited about 15 mins before anyone came over. The chef pinged for service just as my husband went upstairs for the bathroom, the food was still waiting when he came down, the people waiting had been shaking their heads and said that it would be cold, it was honestly the worst service ever. I will definitely not be returning. However the food was delicious it's just a shame it all took such an uncomfortably long time!"
"OK, it was a hot Friday afternoon. However, I expect service from the staff and decent food at any time during opening hours. Start with the staff; poorly motivated and badly trained is the only way I can describe them. One member tried to explain that it was the first day for one team member. In my view, that was a totally inappropriate remark to make to a client. If the team member wasn 't ready to be put on the restaurant floor, why embarrass him by putting him in situations he 's not equipped to deal? I doubt the kitchen staff were any better motivated. The food was lacking flavour and seemed to have been prepared by a trainee. My wife was served with the wrong main course which although rectified quickly, still had little on no flavour. It was 'purple pesto ' without the pesto! ASK, I have been a customer for so years now but I have never been this disappointed. We will not be returning."

"Went here with my 2 young daughters. We didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us by offering us an hour and a half slot because of other bookings, which was more than enough time. Starters came out promptly enough. Then we had the 45min wait for the mains....which I'm guessing the kitchen may have forgot about as we ordered using the online app. They acknowledged the delay on their part and as a pleasant surprise didn't charge us for the mains. I thought that was very considerate of them to be fair, knowing that my children had been waiting patiently. Staff service was very good throughout and they were apologetic about the mains delay. All that aside the food was quite good and this experience hasn't put me off....happy to go again."
