"Extremely disappointed! Took my mother for an early Mother's Day treat and was so disappointed. First of all our on-line booking through open table was not on the Admiral Rodney's list of bookings. They did find us a table but then we waited so long (10 past 7 from 6pm) for our main courses we had to ask where they were. As if by magic they appeared, having probably been under a lamp for half an our. The presentation was a disgrace and not to the standards I expect from the venue. We ordered Hunters Chicken. It had a piece of what tasted like plastic ham on top of a piece of chicken with a little pot of BBQ sauce with a few chips thrown on the plate. No sign of any cheese. Definately not Hunters Chicken. On telling the person on paying they just said it's because they had been busy due to the weather being nice! Maybe a sign should say this on future nice days!"

"Great ambience, great location, good choice of menu. Pies were amazing I have never been tempted in past but decided to, in fact we all had pies. Wasn’t disappointed nicely filled and delicious. Only criticism would be the length of time taken between the main and dessert. We had to prompt for service and noticed another table were waiting too and they reminded the waiter for service. Had the sticky toffee pudding and again very tasty. The pub seemed to quietened down after 9pm, not many people left at all. This is a great location for a family outing."

"We had a reservation at 11 but when we arrived they tell us that the kitchen is closing between 11 and 12. So what is the point ? How is is possible to do a reservation when the kitchen is close ? Then we only had 2 minutes to make our choice and the waitress made few mistakes in it. Bad experience"

"it was me and my mother was the first time in helensburgh and it was just by chance that our travelodge in which we were was right next to this beautiful pub! we have booked a table for 7 o'clock and a beautiful seat next to the window in a quiet opposite of the pubs. cara (I think her name was and her service was absolutely great. she was extremely accentuated on our food requirements as well as chatty and friendly. the food itself was just wonderful. I had a bump steak that I enjoyed throughout (and the cheese sauce was to die for! and my mother had a small pizza. We decided to order a hot drink and pudding afterwards, and my pudding didn't taste good, so we kindly asked to return the pudding for us that she did and her manager came out and apologized unfaithful. also he was extremely accusing, professional and friendly and assured us that the pudding had actually been misprepared and he was grateful that we broke it up so that this mistake would not happen again. beautiful, homely place with fantastic eating and the most fantastic staff! Many thanks, we look forward to our return in the near future!"

"while we go out for christmas and to the second week of the year, it is time to let the Sunday-Mittags path up and running. we drove for a long overdue return to the black horse in brentwood, which is part of the vintage inns chain. I am also very pleased to say that we have not been left in the least. at our arrival we received a nice greeting that contained a reception from manager leigh before we sit at our table. we started with a drink while we watch the menu. Once we have made our decisions, our waitress nina, which I must say, has taken our order very friendly and professionally during our lunch. we started with a Prawn cocktail and the often baked button portobello mushrooms. these dishes were a joy and a great opportunity to begin. now we moved on to the roasted and young we were for a tasty bite. my wife chose the Roast Torkei and for me I had to choose the trio froms that was a mixture of black bell, truthahnbeef. the roasts were accompanied with a selection of sweet, bratkartoffeln, yorkshire pudding, gravur and of course the additional flower cauliflower cheese. we needed a little break before we finished dessert. that gave us the chance to have a chat with manager leigh. to dessert my wife chose the eton mess and on waitress ninas recommended I chose the banoffee pie with toffee sauce. we finished with a coffee to finish a fantastic Sunday dinner. the food and service was excellent and can really not expect to visit again soon. I would definitely recommend a visit as this is a great place for couples, small and large groups where they can enjoy good eating along with friendly service. many thanks to leigh and the whole team especially our waitress nina, who really took care of us and is looking forward to seeing them very soon."

"love the robin hood, eating and service is always excellent. on Friday (5th mai) again visited the service was great, staff are always friendly, I had the cured meat pizza that was really good and it was huge! also love the fizz Friday deal. definitiw mine go to the pub for a beautiful not expensive meal! also visited the last two christmas' for Christmas dinner, which was always beautiful and a great festive atmosphere!"

"After being poorly booked as a treat. Specifically asked the waitress for no fish in the sandwiches she returned and confirmed this was ok and the fish filling would be changed. They arrived with fish. Very disappointing and we didnt correct them as they were so busy. Scones arrived with just cream and we had to ask for jam. Careless error. Overall the afternoon tea was lovely but care needs to be taken as whilst we do not have food allergies someone just may well have. Returning this weekend so hoping things are excellent."

Wanted s quiet space to eat so chose the Thirties Room It had 3 tables I had requested the one by the window but was told to sit on the other one Half way through our dinner a waiter came behind us and pushed the other two tables together and a party of about 7 with young children rocked up Goodbye to our quiet dinner !!!! My partner has to ask for the music to be turned down as we arrived as the speaker was right above our heads We left after our meagre meal I could hardly believe the size of it and the price it was ridiculous We visit Farnjngham vintage inn quite a lot The staff weren’t friendly Thank god for the lovely Claire who we only saw at the end Who’s smiling face is always the same She saved the day for us We won’t be coming back Very disappointed indeed."

"on Sunday afternoon at the departure of the chance to get a table, we were accommodated despite the employment of the pubs. nice friendly staff and the pub are cozy and welcoming. Sunday menu was hard to choose as it looked good. had trio roast and duo roasted of bark meat that had a big short rib! the quality and taste of the food was excellent and quite expensive. we didn't have to wait long and our additional requests were quickly handled. I would recommend this pub for eating and drinks without hesitation!"

"one of the choices on the main menu was slowly cooked pork with cracks. there was no possibility that the pig was cooked slowly as it was as hard as an old boots. the cracking was soft, but was replaced by crasper cracking. the other three meal times were satisfactory and the desserts were good. the service was pretty slow and our impression was that they are understated. year Inn menus (main courses) have much less choice in these days. one of our party has an allergy to fish, the further restricted choice. So, if we all get together, we are unlikely to return in the near future."

"Above average price, above average food, way beyond average portion s. I loved the pub and the vibe. Two main rooms one for family dining and one for pints and sports. Awesome food, some of the best tasting things I've had this side of the pandemic. Portions are huge, the lamb shank for example could feed 2 or 3 comfortably. The sides are delicious. Thoroughly recommend. Somewhat eclectic pint choices, but it has Leffe on draft Been in London for a long time and I've never seen that Belgian vibes."

"at the arrival at the table, the waiter advised us that only 2 starters are available from the menu and that a series of netzen were not available and that the only dessert banoffi was. that meant to enjoy a cozy 3-course meal, we had only one main course. we arrived at 7 o'clock, at 7.10 o'clock we ordered the food before something else went out. the food came fast and our meal was finished at 7.40 o'clock instead of a long evening it was pretty short cut. I've eaten a lot at the crispy, but that was a disappointing visit, and I'll be very restrained after this experience. at least this was just a family trip instead of friends who made their first visit and could get a very bad first impression of their restaurants."

"Always a beautiful venue. We were greeted at the door. Had drinks and chatted on the sofas. We had a lovely round table which is perfect for conversation. The food was lovely. The staff put a candle on my mums dessert for her birthday which made it special. Our only complaint was that it was cold!! One of our guests actually stood up and stood by the radiator between courses. I appreciate that the restaurant had been closed for two days and it takes a while for the building to warm up ... but it spoilt what was otherwise a lovely meal !"
