"Very disappointing. Waited about 50 mins for food even though it was not busy. While waiting we had to send a drink back as the glass was dirty. When food arrived they were tiny portions. Jus “as they called it” was definitely “ahhh bisto” with a tiny bit of flavouring added. Lasagne tasted like it was made with tinned Bolognese, both bisto and tinned Bolognese being tastes from childhood, were easy recognisable. Unfortunately, will not be returning. Food, in my opinion, was well below average."

"Lovely pub, it was busy when we went so wasn’t as quiet as I would of liked but that was to be expected on a Friday night and also nice to see. The setting is gorgeous and beautifully cosy with open fires and exposed beams. The food was really good, I had the house burger and it was very tasty. The girl serving us was pleasant and professional. She has mastered the ability to be attentive without being pushy or making us feel that we need to leave. I would both recommend the Beagle and will also be visiting again myself. Well done to all the team for providing a lovely atmosphere with good food and good service."

"First visit with friends for dinner 11 Nov 16: cozy open fire and comfy leather seats in the bar area. Decor a bit bland and basic throughout the bar and restaurant but the service was genuinely friendly and food was a fab surprise. The bar style menu belies the great food within. We had rib eye steaks and venison Wellington style and it got served to a 'wow ' factor. The food presentation and food was on par with more upmarket restaurants, and price competitive. Will go again and recommend. Keep it up. N Reindl"

"the restaurant is located in an old manor house, which is very large from the outside. the inner is lovingly rustic and the ambiente very relaxed. service was brilliant and the food was delicious. the best was that they never felt rushed to finish courses and could just relax. the ale was also top notch."

"The staff were lovely and it was very peaceful sitting outside by the river, however once again I was let down by the food at this Vintage Inn pub. Unfortunately they were out of both dishes on the menu that my friend ordered (main desert) and the draught beer broke down after the second pint and they could no longer serve the beer we wanted. The manager did not show any flexibility or compassion towards making the customer happy, instead choosing to stick to the rules and not apologise for lack of availability, which I found really disappointing. My chicken sandwich was flavourless, the bread dry and chicken breast thin, over cooked and tough. My friend’s £16 salmon was dry and the portion was meagre. The flat white was cold and too watered down (served in the same size cup as a cappuccino). I would think twice before going back to this pub."

"Hello, typically the food is outstanding, but this time I have to admit, the lamb was extremely tough and there were no scallops or mustard, which was disappointing. The waitress was lovely and fabulous, but it's a shame the food didn't meet our expectations. It's the first time we've been let down, but we still love the restaurant - it's beautiful."

"I was so excited about this place, and although it was nice to get away from the cold winds, this place set a downer on the day. first, the “nail” of the vegan options that I have read elsewhere is not true. I would hardly come two salads “much” plus salate!? they had dessert only a vegan and I am not joking when I say it came as a slitter not bigger than my thumb (a complete sweat when it cost the same as the apple cakes of my man who was massiv.) the place was also ice cold and the staff completely uninterested."

"We received a warm welcome when we arrived at the restaurant, but were disappointed to hear that several items on the menu were not available, including pizzas, jäger huhn, shrimp, and scallops. Despite the limited options, we found other items to order. However, our waiter returned to inform us that calamari was also unavailable, forcing us to change our orders once again. The fish cakes we ended up with were dry and lacked flavor, overshadowed by excessive seasoning. When it came time for dessert, two of us selected dishes, only to be told that they were also unavailable. We felt bad for the staff, but were frustrated by the lack of options and the inconvenience it caused. This experience was not ideal, especially since we had brought our friends here to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately, we may not be returning to this restaurant in the future."

"The pub lacked sufficient staff, as we arrived at 5:20 and our main course was not served until 6:45. When my steak finally arrived, it was inedible - just a bone with excessive fat and no meat. I sent it back, but the cook offered to make another one. However, we had theater tickets and were running out of time. Despite allocating 2 hours for our meal, I ended up sitting with only a main course while my partner ate. To make matters worse, the bill included the cost of my uneaten meal, which we had to dispute."

"Went there because my son is a vegetarian and my grandson has allergies. Have been before but this is the worst meal yet. children's menu did not come with a drink small soda with dash cost the vegetarian burger did not come with all accompliments and was dry and tasteless had extra slice of cheese which looked all dried up at edges, caeser salad lucky had the sauce separate disgusting, and the salad lettuce did not look fresh. Asked about allergy waitress brought booklet which was not that easy, asked her to check with chef ref bun on burger and chips apparently chef only been there couple of days and wasnt sure if there was cross contamination of chips dairy allergy or bun??? children adults waste of money. complained to Vintage inns as soon as I arrived home no replies, so obviously they are not interested"

"We love the Malt Shovel. We've been many times. Staff were friendly and efficient and our waitress was absolutely brilliant with our kids. The children's sausages were good, the kids burger was dull. It could have done with some cheese and salad. Two adults stayed until later. We tried to order food around 21:30 but the kitchen was closed. Given that we had been having drinks for several hours, we would have expected a quick warning if the kitchen was too close early. The pub did not even have any crisps or snacks either. So although although we enjoyed our day out, and we appreciated that a waitress offer to serve us a dessert, 2 of us left very hungry and disappointed. Dear Malt Shovel, please bring snacks back and please warn your customers about the earlier kitchen closure times to avoid disappointment."

"Our Host was a lovely lady and every issue I had she sorted straight away but unfortunately I was just disappointed overall. I visited the Harrow in April when we could only Dine out doors and it was amazing food so was really looking forward to coming back. I had booked a Xmas meal with friends and had chose the Xmas menu. My starters were wrong but I was happy to get what was given with no fuss. I ordered a pint ok coke and was brought a drink with no coke syrup in so that had to be sent back. The mains were ok which was a turkey dinner. My pudding came out (chocolate brownie) It was brought out with my friends puddings who also ordered a brownie. To be told that my pudding had exploded in the microwave hence why it was all over the plate. By this point I couldn't be bothered to argue it and ate whatever was left of the pudding. I wish I had said something at the time about the whole meal but to be honest I didn't want to ruin my Xmas meal with my friends."

"we visited this pub on Thursday evening, the 10th august, for a meal with family and friends who were all in wellesbourne for the high time of a friend. our booking was for 7.15 clock after a very long wait our starters finally arrived at 8.35 and our main course at 8.55 clock. our group consisted of 5 adult and 3 young children, so when the food arrived, it was time that the children were in bed, and the rest of the group wanted to come back to our hotel to the other high-time guests. the debt was not the personal that worked in the pub. .The two young waitresses ran back and forth and took the customer's food and were both very polite and very apologetic about the delay. the management should have found an incentive to get more employees in this night to serve all customers. we had booked in advance, we were not only on the road, like our friends who had a 6.30 booking and had suffered a similar delay. we got discounted from our bill when we complained, and eating was very nice, but that was inacceptable, and the pressure on the waiters would have both earned them a wage rise. I'm sorry, but until the personal is sorted out, I won't recommend the kings head to everyone."

"My sisters and I met up for a Christmas meal at this restaurant. The food did take a while to come out, but it seemed like they were serving all the tables at the same time, which was understandable. I ordered the Christmas turkey lunch, and it was absolutely delicious with very generous portions, although it wasn't very hot. The Christmas pudding I ordered was also a small portion compared to my sister's apple pie, which was a bit disappointing. The pudding was so hard that I couldn't even put my spoon through it, and it was clear that it hadn't been microwaved at all. I informed the waitress, who apologized and replaced it for me. Overall, we did enjoy our meal and would consider coming back again."
