"First visit with friends for dinner 11 Nov 16: cozy open fire and comfy leather seats in the bar area. Decor a bit bland and basic throughout the bar and restaurant but the service was genuinely friendly and food was a fab surprise. The bar style menu belies the great food within. We had rib eye steaks and venison Wellington style and it got served to a 'wow ' factor. The food presentation and food was on par with more upmarket restaurants, and price competitive. my friends meal, ham and chips, the meat was inedible dried and hard, with the waitress who could not understand what the problem was, after a discussion she brought them some cold meat when she almost finished the rest of her meal. my hem was burned out on the speck outside. I've never had a problem, but we're not going to rush View menu

My chicken was burnt to a crisp on the bacon outside. I have never had a problem before but we shall not be retuning in a hurry

The service throughout was attentive but not overbearing. Now, the food. An excellent chicken liver pate accompanied by a salad that had a perfect dressing was followed by a fillet steak cooked exactly as per my request.
