"I arrived here on what was a very wet day. I was looking for lunch and I thought the options were good. It was quite busy I was fortunate to get a table. I found the staff helpful and it was good for eating on your own. I had chilli con carne which was one of the specials it was a really good helping. Nice cosy wee cafe with plenty character."

"Went for a breakfast , we asked if they did rolls on square sausage , we were told yes, so we ordered two. The lady asked if we would like large rolls so we agreed . My tea came in a chipped mug which was replaced at my request. The large rolls arrived about 7 in circumference with 3 slice of the cheapest rusk filled sausage I have ever had the misfortune to eat or not as it turned out !"

"Perfectly situated a few feet from the back door of the Travelodge and open at 7am. Sausage and egg roll was excellent and good value. The coffee and cappuccino needs work, get yourself a good coffee machine and charge a bit more and you will make a fortune."

"There was absolutely nothing wrong with our food. However, it was very busy and staff had obviously forgotten all about an elderly lady at the next table to us. She was having trouble attracting the attention of staff so I said, ‘ Excuse me, this lady has been waiting to be served.’ One member of staff snapped at me that they were all ‘running around like headless chickens’. It later transpired that no one had written the lady’s table number down therefore no one had come to take her order. I completely understand that mistakes happen, especially on busy days, but the attitude of the member of staff who snapped at me was not really acceptable. This was our first visit and will, unfortunately, be our last."

"I used to be a regular at Cafe Truva by the beach a few years back and was excited to try their Lady Lawson street branch on my recent trip to town. However, I was extremely disappointed with my experience. The 'panini spice' that I used to enjoy, with its flavorful mix of spiced chicken, mozzarella, and sun dried tomatoes served with a delicious Turkish-salad meze, was now a far cry from what it used to be. The quality of the ingredients seemed to have been sacrificed for the sake of profit, resulting in bland processed chicken strips and minimal sun dried tomatoes, all seemingly cooked without much attention to detail. The side salad, which used to be a delightful mix of feta cheese, stuffed vine leaves, tzatziki, and couscous, was now just chopped lettuce, tomato, and cucumber with no dressing. I hope the management takes note of these comments and makes the necessary improvements. Unfortunately, I will not be returning anytime soon, which is truly a pity."

"I enjoyed many lunches here in the past and our go to place for lunch when in the town centre but I was very disappointed with the service on our recent visit. We waited nearly 20 minutes on a seat which can happen when its busy but what was annoying was there were 3 tables lying empty when we joined the queue. It was one of these 3 tables that we were given 20 minutes later. There were 4 people also waiting in front of us in the queue and they didnt get a table until after we had finished our meal. They waited 45-50 minutes during which time many tables for 2 were seated. They could have planned it better and joined a couple of those tables for 2 to seat the party of 4 but the young man that had been left to deal with it looked new. The young lady in charge told them she had not realised they had been waiting so long. Even though the young guy dealing with the seating had asked her for help only to be snapped I cant make tables As I left I overheard the young lady in charge say to one of here team. It wouldn 't have been me waiting 45 minutes for just a cheese and ham toastie . This person was also quite rude in here comments to most of her staff as well constantly sniping at them and causing a very unpleasant atmosphere. The couple at the table next to us also commented several times about her attitude. As usual the food was good (except please change the chips back to the old ones they were much nicer) but I would consider trying one of the other restaurants now just because of the service and atmosphere being tense. Also asked for the bill but gave up waiting after 5-10 minutes and went up and stood in a queue at the till to pay with the other customers who had got fed up waiting on the bill."

"The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere both inside and out, but there were delays in taking our order. It seemed like the previous groups had caused chaos in the kitchen. It felt like a family-run establishment where little effort was made to make diners feel special. In fact, we almost felt like we were an inconvenience. The rating is mostly based on the quality of the food, which was extremely overcooked and dry, almost inedible. Like a few other meals we had in the Highlands this week, we didn't complain because we didn't believe any changes would be made. However, consider yourself warned if you plan on dining here."

"Squirrels Pantry is a nice little cafe about 200 yards from the A66 with free parking and adjacent to a garden centre. Having an atrium roof and being situated in a wood adds to the appeal. I enjoyed my visit to Squirrels Pantry, the waitress was very friendly and the price of the meals were highly competitive, with many under 10. I had an omelette, chips and salad, which came to 8.95, and a generous sized capuccino to wash it down. My meal was good value and enjoyable and it seems the staff know many of the customers by name, which suggests a loyal clientele. I would recommend Squirrels Pantry to anyone visiting Cockermouth as it is cheaper than many of the town centre eateries. Note- the cafe only takes cash payments."

"I used to go the lodge before and after my ski sessions, which would be 1-3 times a week as I am local to the slope. The food used to be great, cooked fresh, there was a good varied menu which also catered to different diets. They would do daily specials, the food would be vibrant and flavourful. This was a number of years ago, it has gotten worse since. I met my friend for lunch prior to a 2 hour lift pass and decided to try the food here again to see if it had improved. I ordered a hotdog, see picture. Technically it arrived as it was described (written) on the menu, it was vile! My friend ordered chicken strips, which look like they had been fried a few times as they were mostly oil and flavourless. The staff behind the bar overall are not friendly or personable, with the exception of a couple of them who I know personally. They openly discuss and speak badly of other staff members in the bar area and often stand together in a group avoiding work. The food overall has taken a big nose dive in my opinion, it is either microwaved or deep fried from frozen. There are no fresh food options and no options for restricted or alternative diets. The staff are quite rude when it comes to bringing in food, I appreciate that they don't want food brought in and eaten, however if you can't provide food suitable, what are people who suffer with conditions such as crohns and colitis supposed to do. As an example I have a friend that suffers with that disease and had brought in a home made sandwich, there was no packaging from other companies, just clingfilm and she was asked to leave if she wanted to eat it, which is what we did. The drinks are priced okay and they have a good selection available, just don't expect there to be any ice. I would suggest eat elsewhere before coming to ski or snowboard"

"It just shows that there is demand for cafes in that period in between Christmas and New Year. After a family walk in the local area in late December we searched out a cafe to have a late lunch, The whole of the town of Coldstream appeared closed, so we headed to Wooler where Ramblers was the only cafe open. It was very busy. The food we were served was very good indeed and excellent value. Despite the owner clearly being rushed off his feet, service was cheery and efficient, We shall definitely visit again."

"Really enjoyed our visit to this lovely cafe positioned right in the centre of the market square. The staff were extremely pleasant and everything was covid safe. We ate outside on both our visits, the first time we had the tuna mayo (served in a separate dish and lots of it, jacket potato and a fresh salad and I think home made coleslaw and it was well presented and delicious. The second time we had a breakfast sandwich (sausage and egg) and this too was delicious. We will certainly return here when we are next in the area.Jeanne, Dave Lucy beagle."

"Went for breakfast this morning. Chose the 6 item option which we were given onto warm plates. There were about 5 people in front of us all ordering lattes, cappuccinos, hot chocolates which was taking the 2 members of staff ages to make. The breakfast deal includes filter coffee or tea, however you have to wait behind all these other people ordering barista coffees to get served, all the time the food is getting colder by the minute. We queued almost 15 minutes to get our drinks and pay and by the time we sat down everything was stone cold. For almost £10 each, I expect to get good quality hot food but our breakfast was neither. Complained and asked for replacements, which was just the plate of food blasted in the microwave, so the fried egg which was already like rubber the first time around was beyond being edible. The black pudding went like a brick and everything else was dried up. System really needs to be changed. The two ladies doing the drinks didn 't have a clue who they were making drinks for and ended up with spare drinks that no-one had ordered and short of drinks which people were waiting for, so the process was taking even longer. It really was a complete shambles. Won 't be back in a hurry."

"It 's years since I was in café Torino I used to call it the smokers café. I popped in this morning shy off half ten I had a reasonably priced £5 breakfast, which melted in my mouth NO tough Lorne sausage NO frizzled up egg The main problem wasn 't with the food it was that it was served up on a 'stone cold plate ️ i don 't think that 's the right thing to do 'cos the heat from the hot food dissipates to the cold plate. The next time that I venture in I will ask if my plate can be heated up a bit hopefully the tattie scone isn 't all greasy, that one can ring it out, as has happened to me b4, but very rarely. So far, the staff appear very friendly, especially the very tall slim waitress with the 2 long tails if that 's what their still called. She even asked me if I wanted my capochino b4 my meal [or words to that effect] very good Back in again Tue 5/3/24 at around halve nine, to try out their FULL breakfast this time just to make sure, I asked for it to be put onto a hot plate ️ it came on a warm plate not on a cold plate which was fine, as u can all see my breakfast looked really nice. No frizzled up eggor a soggy, greasy tattie scone as usual the square lorn sausage wasn 't tough at all and the rest was all cooked spot on BUT this is the bit I don 't get. I know if you want to add an extra item to the breakfast it 's £1 SO instead of having to pay £1 extra i asked if i could change one of the 2 square sausage for one link sausage i was told it would cost me a £1 extra, all through my breakfast i couldn 't figure that one out, when it was just a straight swop. I 've never heard the likes of it But it won 't put me off from going back in again BUT I was told that if their that busy they may not have time to heat up your plate ️ if you like your T strong bring your own T bag."

"The Village Coffee House is an absolute delight of a little family run coffee shop. The husband and wife owners are incredibly attentive and pleasant people. The food though simple is done to very very well and if you ever find yourself wanting a lil stop off for a meal or quick bite to eat, you’d find it hard to better this little gem of a establishment."

"When three generations of my family recently vacationed in Scotland, we enjoyed many wonderful experiences and excellent food. The best part of the trip, however, was our discovery of The Palace Pantry in Falkland, where we encountered the warmest, most welcoming women and the most delicious sweet and savory food imaginable. These women created delectable, traditional Scottish pies, with fillings ranging from haggis and pepper steak to curried chicken and macaroni and cheese. Our grandsons, aged 10 and 12, loved the pies so much, we served them every night. The sweets were equally fabulous, including fruit tarts, yum yums, and shortbread cookies. We also ate those every day. Not only did the women at The Palace Pantry provide us with daily meals and treats, they gave us valuable travel advice, letting us know how to pick up our son and grandsons without ever having to drive through the Edinburgh airport and where the best fish and chips and ice cream could be found in St. Andrew 's (Cromar 's for fish and chips, Janetta 's for ice cream). We can 't even imagine what our trip would have been like without Alison, Laura, Louise, and Joy. We highly recommend a trip to The Palace Pantry to meet these fabulous women and sample their delicious sweet and savory treats. It 's a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the trip."

"This cafe is set up like a rest stop between major travel points on the A811 between Stirling and Balloch. The food here is fairly standard traditional British style cafe. There's the usual range of made to order fried food or cold filled sandwiches, plus Italian coffee. I got two fried egg sandwiches although there are plenty of meat options), plus a latte. The food is fine for what it is. The price is well above average for this kind of fare, but then it's also a roadside style cafe and these usually are a bit more. The latte I got was okay. The cafe has all the social distancing procedures in place and there's a one customer inside the cafe at a time rule. The staff were friendly and couldn't have been nicer. Currently, all of the seating is outdoor with a mix of smoking and non-smoking seats. The cafe is effectively on a lay-by, but clearly visible from the road. Parting is mostly on the lay-by. A reasonable stop if you need a break driving and it really is a convenient stop on A811. Also, there are male and female toilets, but costs 20p to get in. Otherwise there's no need to go out of the way to eat here. Had it been cheaper, I would've given it an extra star."

"On a rainy Monday in Aldeburgh, mum and I were looking for somewhere to lunch. Originally we had chosen a different venue in the High Street to eat but after being ignored when waiting for a table and then ignored again while waiting to order, that coupled with their prices made us decide to leave and go to Munchies. I should add, no one even noticed us leave! I've eaten at Munchies many times before and, as always, we were met with a smile and a cheery greeting. We were shown to our table within a minute and only waited another five minutes before someone came to take our order. Although there was less choice than shown on the menu well, it was a Monday after a busy high season weekend what we chose was excellent. When I asked what herbal tea Munchies had, the waitress brought the full selection for me to choose from! The whole Munchies experience was, as I've always found, very friendly and with extremely good service. I wish we'd gone there first today I will do so from now on! As a footnote, I can say from past experience, in my opinion, Munchies' breakfasts are the best in Aldeburgh!"

"I am sad to write this review. But I think it will help the manager realise there's an issue. We found the staff to be a little disconnected and not personable. A little shocked the order came to £27!! But had high hopes. The food came quickly and we couldn't help but laugh. The weird combination of nachos and coleslaw was baffling... and my partners soup was stone cold. Someone forgot to turn the soup kettle on? Or microwave?? Anyway. We won't be back unfortunately unless there's a drastic menu redesign. Pond was nice"

"Unlike the KFC in Lowestoft this place is always quick and efficient with hot food. It’s been revamped recently but is basically the same. When you order at the drive through you see the price come up, but when you pay it’s slightly more? I did point it out and was told I wasn’t the first to notice?"
