"I’ve been coming here for 2 years, being a local and have always loved the food and service. Today was a poor experience. The wait staff wasn’t keen to take on the feedback so posting here instead. Having ordered a bap, I was given a hard crusty baguette and told that they were out of soft rolls. I understand this can happen and it’s not in their control. However I’d expect this to be communicated on ordering or when it was being made and not just be given a different item without even being informed or given an apology. The bread was very difficult to eat being hard and grazed by gum and I had to send it back. Not even an apology. Don’t think I’ll be returning."

"Christmas lunch with friend. 1st time here and will definitely be going again. Lovely food and very friendly helpful service. Very grand setting made the occasion feel very special. As we were coming to the end of lunch people were arriving for afternoon tea, we shall be returning to try this as it looked amazing ! Very good value."

"If I could have given a 10 mark rather than a 5, I would! We had a fantastic meal last night as a part of Soulshine's Supper club. I loved the variety of dishes with locally sourced ingredients, fantastic presentation and warm hospitality. Will definitely be back. Thank you, Andy and Team! "please allow me to add my bit to the overall rating. Actually, I'm surprised I'm letting you say that. I was in other caffes in the juweler district, but this one is actually standing for me. because it doesn't cost them 10€ to the breakfast and what they get is definitely more than what they pay. £5.50 for a breakie, and pate is loaded. I know you say it's just a breakie, but how many times did you fail? it is a simple task, but as the first meal of the day they want it well done and it is the prizes are great staff is super beautiful. in any case comes back."

"I have just returned from a two night stay at this hotel which was enjoyable. The staff were particularly friendly and helpful. Our room was on the second floor and looked out onto the extensive grounds. I made a mistake by not enquiring as to whether the hotel had a lift as my sister-in-law had walking difficulties. However, she managed. Our meal arrangement was breakfast and dinner in the evening to include nibbles and two courses from the menu. If we required a further course, this was an extra. We had a delightful Vietnamese waitress on our first evening by the name of Le. She was absolutely charming. She informed us that this weekend the hotel had an Indian Wedding taking place and that an elephant would be arriving for the ceremony. We were sorry we couldn 't witness the proceedings. One thing I would like to mention is that the hotel is on an incline and when exiting, it is very difficult to see the traffic approaching and a mirror on the opposite side of the road would be helpful."

"As cocktail lovers we were told this is just the best place so off we went. A small place in the centre of town which we eventually found and so glad we did. A Southside, Team Rocket, Paper Plane and Grasshopper were our choices. It is an experience to watch a pro at work, all cocktails were made using great care, skill and technique, poured into glassware and presented. Just an art to watch and a pleasure to savour. The place itself is quirky, a gem of a little bar and the cocktails which we had were tremendous, perhaps a little high on the price side but oh so worth it when you consider the skill set needed to create such inspiring beverages. BRILLIANT AND THANK YOU."

"Smart well laid out pub deserving of the description of a gastro pub. We turned up without a booking but the staff worked out a table for us and we're very helpful. Menu gave us a choose of breakfast which then turned into a dinner menu 15 mins after we sat down so we had the best of both worlds. Lots of choice we settled for the breakfast. Steak and eggs for me, veggie for one of our group and two breakfast s one full blown and one slightly smaller. Food was good portions a little smaller than expected but still reasonable. Good atmosphere with groups eating or taking in cocktails from the broad choice in the drinks menu. Will use again as overall great venue."

"This hidden gem near St. Paul's Cathedral is a fantastic find. The place is very clean and they serve excellent espresso. I love that you can choose your bean from the different options available each day."

"Pure chance that my son and I came across this pub on the night of the Wales-England WC match, and our fears that we'd be battered with leeks and driven back out into the cold (we're English, after all) proved totally unfounded. Quite the opposite happened: a friendly welcome, good craft beer too cheap to mention, and free bangers and chips at half time. Pity about the game result, but we were not held accountable. The folks who run this place know what they're doing. It ain't the Ritz, but we wouldn't want to drink at the Ritz anyway. Well done!"

"I had no idea that this place existed on its own, it had a cool secluded vibe! I loved walking along the narrow passage and down the old narrow staircase. It truly is a hidden gem! The restaurant is small, but that's part of its charm. It feels like an old root cellar, which is brilliant! The ambiance is cozy, dimly lit, and a perfect hideaway from the outside world. The staff was friendly and the food (which was fabulous by the way) and drinks were served promptly. The restaurant was full and more people were coming in!"

"The Boathouse is a very inviting establishment with friendly staff. Our waiter, Raj, was not only excellent but also had a great sense of humour. When I joked about eating dinner on one of the super yachts, he politely responded that it didn't belong to the restaurant owners. The food was excellent; I ordered the Steak Burger while my sister had the salmon. I highly recommend this place. It was my 61st birthday and Raj surprised me with a gold balloon that said "happy birthday." The service was superb, and Raj is a huge asset to the company. I will definitely be returning."

"I expected this place to be a typically poncey, pretentious South Manchester establishment but it wasn't at all if you can see past the avocados, brioche, gluten free and vegan offerings. When I was a lad, none of those things had been invented (with the possible exception of avocados, I think they've been around a while). The food was great though, the service was super friendly and the milkshake was out of this world. Don’t tell anyone I said this, but it's better than McDonald's milkshake."

"We visited this bustling café for breakfast on a Sunday morning at 9am and were seated promptly. By the time we left, there was a line stretching halfway down the street with eager customers waiting. We enjoyed the pancake stack with biscoff, though we found it a bit dry without the additional yogurt. The granola with fresh fruit was a delightful choice as well. The service was pleasant and friendly, and we appreciated the various vegan options on the menu. In contrast, a previous visit for coffee and cake two days prior was a disappointment with slow and unfriendly service, bitter coffee, and overly loud music. However, after speaking to a local, we decided to give the café a second chance and were glad we did."

"I used to come here regularly, however on the last visit I noticed something massively with the way it was run both in terms of the food quality and the service levels. We came in as a group of 4 adults and 3 toddlers. Ordered coffees and a few burgers and some prawns on toast. For the most part, the food was good except for 2 of the burgers which were far too overcooked and the guys who ordered ended up only being able to eat a few bites out of them. We informed the waitress who was clearing the table about this. When we went to pay, we said to the waitress at the till that we thought that the 2 burgers should be taken off the bill as they weren’t eaten (the total bill would have still come to over £80) The waitress then went straight to the manager who came over to ask what the problem was. When we told him we were given a response of “well, I’ve had the food here and I can tell you that it’s incredible”. When we said that the burgers were far too overcooked (one beef and one chicken burger) he just said that the chicken has to be cooked through. After arguing that it was just too overcooked and dry, he simply walked away and told the waitress only to remove one of the burgers. I’m not usually one to give poor reviews, but the attitude of the manage alone was completely unacceptable. Having worked in catering and customer service, it is your responsibility to listen to the feedback of your customers, and not to be arrogant or rude. I do hope that no one else is unlucky enough to be faced with this kind of situation, but this was enough for all of us to never return to this place."

"The food was truly of high quality and reasonably priced. The staff provided excellent service. What else can I say? The fish pie was the best I've had in ages, and the treacle tart that followed was delightfully light. The atmosphere was pleasant, with a good number of patrons even on a Thursday afternoon. It was a wonderful experience to catch up with friends over lunch. Price per person: £30–40. Food rating: 5/5."

"I wanted this place to imagine everything, I guess it started bad when the metal chairs were too cold to sit and the door was left open casually. Unfortunately, the selection of cake was not better than you could buy in the cold section of tesco’s. the cakes were inspiring and had no deep, clear nothing to house and I would definitely think of changing suppliers. the latte was unnoticed and the tee was a cheap double tee bag for unacceptable in this day and age. Unfortunately, this was opened with the tourist understanding that has no expectations and improves the idea of the insensitive English food. so a shame to avoid all costs, there are so many better places...more"
