"Had a lovely lunch at Cowley on a day with very mixed weather. They have clearly spent time and money on erecting a sturdy, but attractive, canopy over the outdoor terrace. There was some torrential rain while we were eating but we were completely protected so remained dry and, with the addition of heaters and blankets, warm too. Although it was busy, the tables were well spaced so we didn't feel too close to the other diners. The view at Cowley is absolutely beautiful even in the rain so it was great to be outdoors enjoying it, even with mixed weather. The food was very tasty I had poached salmon and my friend had fish cake. The portions are never huge but it was enough, with side orders, to feel satisfied. Service was friendly the only grumble was that it was quite slow (over 40 minutes before our food arrived! . But all in all, a very pleasant return to socialising (safely!"

"Continental breakfast has a good selection, but the pastries were the equivalent to a cheap low cost hotel. There are a couple of good bakeries in Cheltenham and would suggest the hotel review their supply chain for these.I decided to pay extra for the full English, and in all honesty, I wish I had not. I could not eat more than a quarter of the sausage as it tasted like a cheap pork sausage. I was also served the smallest poached hens egg I have ever seen you get the picture.Overall, this hotel really really needs to up their game with the quality of their ingredients. The service however was excellent and the waiting staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly"

"We didn't enjoy our latest trip to Harts. The actual restaurant is looking tired and dated. The back seat in our booth was broken, toilets resemble a motorway service station, cold, slightly grubby and in desperate need of renovation. The food was not very pleasant, all looks very fancy, but not particularly tasty! Our main fish dish was not cooked enough for our liking but asking for it to be cooked a little longer became a bit if an embarrassing drama. A total of 4 staff members came over and commented on it, with us being told that chef said it was cooked as it should be. I didn't question that, merely that i wanted it to be well cooked. All very embarrassing and I felt rather uncomfortable for the rest of the evening."

"Hart's Kitchen is off to a great start in the new year. We enjoyed plump, tasty, garlicky prawns and a comforting, creamy artichoke soup for starters. The flat iron steak, cooked medium rare as requested, was flavorful and satisfying. For dessert, we had a delicious chocolate fondant with ice cream and some standard Madeleines with lemon curd. The wine list offered plenty of options at reasonable prices. The service from the one waiter in the small dining area was professional and friendly. It's reassuring to see that this long-standing Nottingham restaurant is still serving up excellent food."

"We enjoyed afternoon tea, which was quite good, but the experience was tainted by the quality of the surroundings. We were seated in the lounge area where a business meeting was taking place. While we don't mind sharing the space, the overall ambiance left much to be desired. It would be better if a section could be designated specifically for afternoon tea, especially since we weren't the only guests participating. The table would have looked much nicer with a tablecloth, adding a touch of elegance that would have enhanced the experience. While the afternoon tea itself was very enjoyable, I regret to say that the lack of ambiance took away from the overall enjoyment."

"Love this pub! Mum used to come here years ago when the old Marquee Club used to be on Wardour Street, as well as the Intrepid Fox. This pub is steeped in history and a proper old haunt for rockers and musicians back in the day. Still has its character now and the bar staff are so friendly I told one of them that my Mum used to come here years ago and his response was “welcome home!” Such lovely sentiment. 10 out of 10"

"Very disappointing and disgusted with our visit i booked an afternoon tea as a treat for my mother. The sandwiches were not fresh seemed like they had been made a day before as the bread was stale. There was hardly any meet filling more like the fat of the ham. There were at least 15 blue bottle fly’s in the window by the table . One fly touched the food. We were going to ask for these to be replaced but could see other people in the restaurant having issues with flies also. There was also a mess under the table. We just had get out of there as it was grim and not a pleasant experience and did not expect this from this hotel."

"We hit a quiet spot Thursday lunchtime. We were virtually the only diners so the ambience was zero. Service was excellent and friendly but the food was mediocre. The music was too loud for an empty pub and imposed upon the conversation. I wouldn't go so far as to call it a gastro pub. At £45 a head including drink and service, there are places that offer better value for money."

"We were in the area for the British Grand Prix. Our accommodation did not provide food so I looked around and liked the look and reviews of The Plough Inn at Marsh Gibbon. After a long day all four of us were in need of refreshment. There is a separate dining area which suited us well after our long day. With a good choice of menu and this being our main pit stop we needed refuelling. We were not disappointed having all chosen comfort food. The chef cooks ham and gammon with coke and the result is delicious. We were well served and looked after, the beer was good too. I would have no hesitation in going back nor in recommending this fine hostelry."

"at the arrival there was a hot party that became louder the longer we were there, but we assumed that it was the food we had with the sweet, where cold and the jus was very salty. the 5 green gnocchi squares tasted like eating stola without taste, even if it should contain garlic. for the price £20) there was little on the plate and it was cold. my partner had a starter and enjoyed that but did not comment on it enough. when we complained, the manager said she would let the cook know and then avoided us like the plague and seemed upset. we asked about the bill after I decided not to have dessert and sat there on what seemed an old, so we decided to go to try and pay, and the manager appeared as we had our moms up and the bill appeared, she had the drinks knocked out of the bill, we thought very good of her, but she had been paying us for each one we had just put on"

"On arrival there was a hen party which got louder the longer we where there but we accepted that, it was the food we had a problem with the vegetables where cold and the jus was very salty. The 5 green gnocchi squares tasted like eating stodge with no flavour even though it was supposed to contain garlic. For the price £20) there was little on the plate and it was cold. My partner had a starter and enjoyed that but commented there wasn't enough. When we complained the manager said she would let the chef know and then avoided us like the plague and seemed annoyed. We asked for the bill after I decided not to have a dessert and sat there waiting for what seemed an age, so we decided to go to try and pay and the manager appeared as we put our coats on and the bill appeared, she had knocked the drinks off the bill which we thought was very good of her but she had charged us for each course individually when there is a set price for 2 courses but we just paid and left, we felt very dissapointed as we had been looking forward to eating there but sadly it wasn't the best experience for us."

"I booked this for afternoon tea with friends to finish off a shopping weekend in Manchester. Following reviews on open table I thought this would be a nice way to finish our weekend. How wrong was I. When the food eventually arrived, from a distance it looked OK. Up close, not so good. The sandwiches were so dry, I thought they were toasted. I complained to the waitress who apologised and said she would speak to the chef. About 20 minutes later a tray of fresh sandwiches were brought to us which were actually ok. The scones were still frozen in the middle and the rest just wasn't very nice. The Manager did apologise and gave us a free glass of prosseco which did go down very well. It really wasn't an enjoyable experience and I would certainly not recommend this hotel as avoid place to eat."

"This restaurant has a picturesque view of the sea. The service from the staff is top-notch. They offer two menus to choose from - a casual bar menu and a more upscale restaurant menu. The restaurant menu may have limited options and be a bit pricey, but the quality of the food is excellent. In general, it is a pleasant and cozy restaurant for a relaxing dining experience."

"A question often asked to me and my fellow food lifestyle bloggers is: 'How do you eat all that food yet stay slim? ' On my blog you may have seen tucking into multi-dish tasting menus at Chotto Matte, an epic Indian feast at Trishna or a sugar-packed afternoon tea at The Intercontinental Westminster whilst still fitting into my dresses. Well the answer is: I don 't eat like that all the time. I like to adopt an 80 20 rule (80 good days and 20 treat days). So generally during the week I 'll be as good as gold, eating healthy home cooked meals that are nutritionally balanced and doing lots of hard core exercise. Then at the weekend I 'll have my splurges! I don 't really eat junk food...read more"

"it was a very impressive arrival into the forecourt of the beautiful Victorian mansion that is the Petersham Hotel. The reception team was helpful and welcoming and in no time I felt safe that I had registered my car's details correctly. A slow stroll through the finely appointed rooms with stylish interior design and comfortable seating in wonderful rich colours made me happy that I had chosen to entertain my friends there My arrival at the restaurant revealed the beautiful view, which makes Richmond on Thames so famous around the world. The staff were most kind and attentive and soon my guests arrived and enjoyed the warm atmosphere of the room and its elegant decor The food and wines were delicious and imaginatively presented. A real treat in all senses of the word. A perfect evening, very much appreciated, so thanks to all your wonderful team. That said, I found the Forbes corrections irritating. We are in England and they repeatedly tried to make me spell everything in the American way. a bit too clever by half."

"I had booked an afternoon tea at this restaurant but when I arrived, I was informed that they only offer afternoon tea on weekends, which was not specified on their website. The staff mentioned that they had tried to call me to inform me, but it was only one hour before my appointment and I did not receive any call. This was a disappointing experience, especially since I had planned this as a special outing with my children who were also disappointed."
