"Very disappointing and disgusted with our visit i booked an afternoon tea as a treat for my mother. The sandwiches were not fresh seemed like they had been made a day before as the bread was stale. There was hardly any meet filling more like the fat of the ham. There were at least 15 blue bottle fly’s in the window by the table . One fly touched the food. We were going to ask for these to be replaced but could see other people in the restaurant having issues with flies also. There was also a mess under the table. We just had get out of there as it was grim and not a pleasant experience and did not expect this from this hotel."

The food was delicious, but we felt a bit rushed. We were seated at 8pm and by 10pm they were already pushing us to choose dessert and preparing for breakfast service.

If I’m honest I was disappointed with the food. I had read some good reviews so was a bit surprised how poor the food was. There was a big wedding on so this may have put the kitchen under pressure. Service was good but my steak and chips was greasy and the greenery on the plate wilted. Starter was ok but very small.

Came for afternoon tea for 2 had 1 vegetarian and 2 no fish my mum was served 3 sandwiches filled with just lettuce an one with abit of tomato (not imaginative at all) had to ask for at least abit of cheese or egg. Was pleasantly surprised at how stunning the Tara Restaurant was. Lovely decor, accompanied by a fantastic view of the Malverns and a lovely, attentive waitress. Fantastic value for money afternoon tea for 2, evidently everything was homemade with a great selection of cakes and scones. However, I felt the sandwich fillings were lacking in flavour and appearance compared to the rest of the afternoon tea. Other than that minor detail, I would highly recommend.

I took my two daughters out for dinner on Friday evening. We had previously dined at the restaurant the previous Sunday for their roast dinner. Alison, our waitress, was exceptionally helpful, professional, and friendly. The meal was excellent - first class in every way. However, our Friday dinner left me feeling disappointed. My choice of Pollock and chips was significantly overpriced for something that I could easily get at a local café for a fraction of the cost. Our server, Becky, was friendly and helpful, but overall we were very disappointed with the quality and value of our meal.

"The Cavern in Gloucester is one of a kind. To a lot of people just passing by it is a very pleasant social cafe with reasonably priced food and non-alcoholic drink. The reality is that The Cavern is so much more than that. This is a place that is non-judgemental and focuses on inclusion for everyone. It has a lot of regular attendees including myself, many of which have mental health issues and/or some form of disability. The staff here (who are absolutely amazing) have a varied and wide understanding of mental health and what makes this place unique is that anyone can attend in the evening to talk to a member of staff about any issues in an informal and discrete way. Whilst staff are available anytime during the day there is a designated support area in the evenings which anyone can make use of. There are also various activities which The Cavern put on including an informal karaoke on a Sunday evening with mixed abilities of singers taking part. You don 't have to be a good singer as you will not be judged, it 's all about taking part. The Cavern has had a couple of bad reviews where it has been pointed out that there has been drug use and anti-social behaviour. Some of which may be true, however please bear in mind that some people who attend The Cavern may have mental health issues and conditions that may not be physically visible. The Cavern does not judge and is open to everyone. If The Cavern wasn 't so inclusive, then where would these people go? On the streets being Antisocial ? Getting involved in criminal activity? The safe space that The Cavern provides encourages people to attend and seek advice and support from a friendly staff team as well as other regular attendees who feel that The Cavern has a real family feel to it. Drug use is strictly prohibited and is challenged immediately. Whilst I accept that The Cavern may not run smoothly 100% of the time, I also know that the staff do everything that they can to support everyone who needs it. They are all very approachable and have the respect of people who feel able to open up to them about their problems and struggles. The Cavern is a safe space for everyone and if it was to ever close then Gloucester would lose a very valuable asset to the city."
