"I would recommend that everyone eat at Dalston Jazz bar for the simple reason that every terrible restaurant you visit throughout the rest of your life will seem better by comparison. We walked in and were confronted with a decor that was presumably aiming for shabby chic but had instead landed squarely on skanky tetanus. We took a table at the back after being told that the one free at the front was reserved. Fair enough. We then splashed out the eminently reasonable price of £32 for 2 pints, a single vodka and (flat) coke and a cosmopolitan so sweet I can only assume they got the cranberry juice mixed up with the Vimto. For some reason all drinks had to be paid for immediately rather than being added to your bill presumably because so many people walk out. Words cannot describe the quality of our waiter at least not words I can write here. When he eventually took our food order he explained that it was a 'pay what you want ' restaurant, before immediately contradicting himself by informing us that each dish held a minimum 'donation ' of £15. What about the foccaccia? I dared to ask. £15 I was informed. Deciding to forgo the world 's most expensive bread we went for the prawns. They had the taste and texture of rubber covered in warm sweet chilli sauce. The chef had taken the unusual step of placing these on top of the crispy salad leaves, making them somewhat less crispy. The accompanying dish of a 'fishcake ' was, in reality, a pile of overcooked mash stuffed with the sweepings of the kitchen, some of which were presumably piscine in nature. The night culminated when the waiter, despite our protests, insisted we move to the long table he had originally said was reserved. Apparently the people who had booked it had cancelled, but our table was reserved (something he hadn 't previously mentioned). We arrived at the already packed long table to find there were only 2 seats for the 4 of us. No problem for our suddenly industrious waiter, who made everyone else shove along until we were so packed that the meaning of an 'intimate dinner ' threatened to take on a whole new meaning."

"We were warmly greeted and shown to a table, I did not notice until we had sat down that we were right next to the till and food laydown area. So I was often treated to a derriere being waved in my face or the...bang and clang of the knife and fork draw. We were not offered an opportunity to have a drink at the bar or another table away from the derriere show. My wife was with me and fuss is not on her menu, so I put up with it and did not ask to be moved (there were others available). So after the moan, service very good, food good, with the Octopus starter on another level, but the lamb shoulder was at best ok. My wifes meal of Salmon starter and Trout was very good I was told . So my advice don't be greedy, loose that table and tighten up the food offer a little. Would I go again yes, but never that table again, fuss or no fuss."

"It’s rare to find a restaurant that is perfect for solo dining, hanging out with friends, or going on a date. The open layout features a section that is slightly elevated, creating distinct areas where different groups can enjoy a cozy atmosphere reminiscent of a living room, while still being private enough for comfortable conversation without having to shout. The quality of the food is impressive; for vegetarians, the menu is quite accommodating, as many Mediterranean restaurants often lack meat and dairy options. I have to rave about their small dishes – they are absolutely delicious! The wine selection is excellent in terms of quality, and the staff is always ready to offer suggestions and assistance whenever needed. I've only been there twice, but I'm definitely going back!"

"First time with the Italian cuisine so we had no idea with the menu. Lovely and kind stuff! Stuff explained menu well. I asked for halal options and only chicken and seafood are their halal options. I asked for recommendation and she guided us well. Even explained what is red sauce, white sauce… Even basics~ She was kind and helpful. She suggested her favourite starters as marinated olives, focaccia olive oil, bread. Delicious! I can even go there just for their olives! Our glasses were never emptied because she always poured our water gently~ This was lovely. I had chicken milanese and my sis had linguine vongole. Chicken was delicious but I REALLY had hard time with cutting. Wasn’t juicy enough and hard to cut. Not sure if those knives were enough to cut it but my arm got tired of trying to cut, seriously Pasta was 10/10 no doubts. I had %50 discount coupon from TheFork Festival but they forgot to apply it even though I reminded them very beginning of the night. But they fixed so quickly so no problem at all~ But it is important to being careful and attentive. Definitely visit one more time for their pastas! Restaurant aesthetics so authentic and full of italian culture"

"My friend and I needed a good old catch up and decided to go to Cafe Source as not been for a while! We were disappointed! The young waitress needed more training in customer service she asked us same questions many times....and didnt seem too confident? My friend had the Croque Monsieur and had to send back as it was cold....not even an authentic Croque Monsieur either! I was quite happy with my order of Prawn and Avocado in a bun, plenty of it and apart from salad consisting of just green leaves out a packet it was quite acceptable. My friend had a Rose wine which was tastleless and I had white wine and soda, which again was tastless. We chose to go elsewhere for coffee.....we also chose to decline the optional service charge as we didnt think deserved it!"

"Santino, the owner, made our night very special as he and his team delivered excellent meals and entrees in a very relaxed environment. The food was very tasty and expertly prepared to a very high standard. An aperitif was served before the meal arrived which was a very nice (and extremely tasty) touch. My fiancee ordered the lasagnia while I ordered the fetticini, both of which were amazing. The service was prompt and friendly. Never missing a beat, the meals and drinks were delivered in a very timely manner with a friendly chat and smile. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a casual drink.and chat on the patio or a more intimate, romantic dinner inside. Thanks Santino!"

"This pub is a delightful spot with delicious food and a wide variety of options to please everyone's tastes. I highly recommend trying the torn buck and hamcake, served on creamy maic with a delicious sauce. The cozy atmosphere of the building would make for a charming home, making it feel intimate even during busy times. The outdoor garden is perfect for dining al fresco or enjoying a drink, and there is even a playground for children. The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I am thrilled to live just a minute's drive away from this wonderful pub!"

"Four of us came out at short notice on a mid-Feb dank evening for a birthday. Generally quiet but enough people around to make the settings for both the drinks in the Refectory and the meals across in the BK feel jolly and affable. We had a really good time stretched well over three hours. The cocktails worked well and the friendly efficient staff in the restaurant together with the first rate food and wines combined for perfect birthday supper. The cocktail prices blur in the memory but the BK part cost us not much over £70 each. No reservations at all. BK remains part of our small handful of favoured and reliable Plymouth restaurants."

"We had a very mixed experience here, the welcome was good and we were sat at our reserved table promptly however we were not given any menus or any offer of a drink. After collecting our drinks and menus we then ordered the meals, My smoked haddock dish was ok if a bit expensive but the burgers were awful and very overpriced, the staff were willing at times and unresponsive at other times, all in all this was a very average and expensive experience."

"The Sussex is a really nice little restaurant just outside the centre of Dublin. Appeared to have a nice range of beer and a tasty menu. Portions were quite small for the price (but the shepherds pie I had was delicious). Staff friendly and very helpful."

"Good selection on the menu. For starters we had the celeriac and the scallop, for mains the hanging seafood skewer and the muscles. All were very well done. Not exceptional but very good. No complaints about any of the food. We shared a cheese board, only comment would be there could have been a tad more cheese, though this is a pretty common issue with restaurant cheese boards. The wine choice was also good, and lots of choices of good wines by the glass. Service was very friendly, nicely informal. Didn't feel rushed, we were seated for a tad over 2 hours for 3 courses. Positive feedback for the toilets, very clean!! The aspect we scored least was value. Not really specific to On The Quay, but generally we've noticed how much more it costs for a 3 course meal with drinks. All in all a very pleasant evening."

"I hosted a baby shower for my sister at this restaurant and I have to say, from the beginning to the end, I have never felt so uncomfortable at a place I paid for a service. My sister and I arrived early to set up some favors on the table. However, we were met by the owner standing at the top of the stairs, looking down on us. The first thing she said was, "Where do you think you're going with that?" A simple hello would have been a better way to welcome paying customers. I later found out that it was stated in the terms sent via email that we couldn't bring our own favors, which was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions. It was also mentioned in the terms that the balance had to be paid 14 days prior to the booking. The food (afternoon tea) didn't seem fresh at all, although I did enjoy the scone. The overall experience, from the unwelcoming atmosphere to the manager counting heads and watching us, felt more like a school trip for badly behaved children. I would not recommend booking JAM to anyone."

"We had a really rubbish night here and I can’t remember a time where I felt more ripped off. Firstly they take credit card details with a 48 hour cancellation policy and £30 per person charge for cancellation or no show. I’d never dream of no showing a restaurant reservation without letting them know, but this feels extreme, even for Notting Hill. We arrived half an hour early for our table, had a drink downstairs in the pub (where a single bag of Tayto crisps are £2.50!!!!! . Our reservation was at 6pm so I went up at 5:50pm to see if they’d seat us early. The place was empty bar a table of 9 10 adults and children. I was told they couldn’t seat us yet and to come back up 15 20 mins later. Right. Back downstairs. Waited another 20 mins, until around 10 past 6pm. They said they were just setting our table, which was a table of 2 right next to the big table. Every other table was empty, so I asked if actually we could sit away from the group and pointed out all the empty tables. We were told this wasn’t possible. We sat down to a wobbly table and got on with looking at the menu. Then we asked if we could have the chicken Kiev (the whole reason we came as we’d heard how good it was by a friend who’d had it years ago when they lived in the area we were told no, that’s only available in the bar. It’s priced at the same price point as mains upstairs so I asked if they could make an exception and was rudely told no. Even though it all comes out of the same kitchen and we’d have starters and desserts as per the menu up here. Just no. Starters were just about ok at the time just about I had the pint of prawns but felt very ill the next day. My partner had the Barnsley chop which was so tough it was borderline inedible in fact he didn’t eat it. I had the fish stew but there’s no chips or fries on the sides menu so I was sold mash instead. A lump of cold, dry potato turned up on the table. While we were eating another table sat down in the corner and throughout the meal my partner was asked to move out the way so they could get to that table, or push his chair in so they could get past madness when he was literally just sitting normally as anyone would?! Our bill was £150 odd so for pub fare it’s not cheap. We came away feeling so frustrated and actually just really pissed off at how rude the staff were and how ripped off we felt. A **** experience. What a shame!"

"Below average. The food was, at best, ok. Little flavor. Half the people on our table didn 't finish their dishes because they didn 't enjoy it. My tagliatelle Alfredo was supposed to have a 30 yo Parmesan cheese but I could not taste any Parmesan at all. The waiter that was taking our orders seemed annoyed, or tired, or something else, but showed no interest in being pleasant. The restaurant is nicely decorated tough. I wouldn 't recommend this restaurant based on our experience today."

"Booked a table for a birthday meal, and was over the moon with the evening. The Dukes allowed us to use decorations free of charge and even helped set up a little table for presents and cakes! The food was just right, and the customer service throughout the night was top notch plenty of smiles enjoyable conversation. A massive thank you to Andy and the team on shift for a fantastic evening!"

"No complaints about tasting menu it was good. Matching wines ok, first good, other less so. What I do not want to get to 9 with pre-booked tasting menu, table not ready, dumps up for half an hour near a very loud wedding party, normal menu handed us over when we have already chosen. A drink was offered after 10 minutes, but we didn't want an aperitif somewhere else with friends. No real excuse. It got better when we sit down."

"We love The Ship! Great views in a beautiful environment and the food and drink are great. However, on our last couple of visits we have found the staff a little impatient and even rude at times. The service was sluggish and it can seem that the customers are a bit of an inconvenience to them at times! It does get busy and is very popular, for good reason, but a refresher on customer service wouldn't go amiss!! Food, atmosphere and location were first class although a little disappointed that the Sunday roasts had gone by the evening."

"This was our first visit, and it was outstanding—truly the perfect Sunday dinner. We traveled from Dartmouth, with the Beckford Arms in Wiltshire being one of our top five favorites. We had planned a 5-mile hike followed by Sunday dinner, and The Millbrook Inn exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The food was amazing, there was a great selection of wine, and the service was friendly. The beautiful interior, open fires, and live music created a wonderful atmosphere. The prices were fair and the overall value was excellent. We will definitely be returning again soon!"

"Came here for an early birthday celebration with my friends on a Friday night. I had made a reservation beforehand but it was very empty when I walked in so it wasn't needed. There were 4 of us and we decided to order a couple starters to share so we could try different things. One of my friends is vegetarian so we went with the trio cheese croquettes and then the grilled mussels. Both were really nice, but I wish the garlic butter sauce for the mussels could be stronger. The mussels also weren't the most fresh but tbh I wasn't surprised since central London isn't known for seafood and for the price it was what it was. For mains, I went for the Entrecote steak with fries. I loved the garlic butter that came with it and the refreshing salad on the side. The steak was a little too rare for my liking even though I asked for medium so I couldn't finish it but the portion was huge for its price. The fries were a little soggy and didn't taste freshly fried so it was slightly disappointing. My friends went for the sea bass, duck breast and cauliflower steak which were all really good apparently so that balanced out with my main I suppose. Service was great. One of my friends made a special request with the staff for my birthday and they came sing a birthday song for me with the desserts we ordered which was lovely. For desserts, we went with the raspberry crème brulee, affogato with vanilla ice cream and the apple tarte tartin also with vanilla ice cream. All were really good and we all agreed that the apple tarte tartin was the best of them 3 because the apple was rich and the pie was well-made and went well with the ice cream. Overall, I had a great time with my friends there as we stayed for 4 hours and we didn't get kicked out at all since it was so empty! I would be happy to come back soon and try other things on the menu."
