"Took a week away to go to Cornwall just out of season, we had just finished up at the Eden Project so decided to head to Charlestown where we came across this delightful food master piece! Had a sneaky review of the place first and after seeing people's reviews, thought, let's do this! Lovely lady that served us, so genuine and polite. Our table number was called out, we collected out fish finger sandwiches and chips.......... it was really good. It's simple food done well and the service is good. If you get the opportunity to visit Charlestown, then don't overlook this place. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"We stopped in at Daly's for a pre-theatre dinner. The staff was very friendly and the service was good. We started with the hummus. It was fantastic. We had a very generous portion, but they didn't provide much bread or veggies for it, so we had to ask for more bread. They charged us 4 pounds for the extra bread. A bit extreme. My wife ordered the chicken shawarma and I had the tortellini. We agreed that the chicken shawarma was one of the best chicken shawarmas we've ever had. It was absolutely delicious.....really, really good. The tortellini was average. It was literally smothered in a very bland, common red sauce. I was very disappointed I didn't order the chicken shawarma, too. So, we would highly recommend Daly's, if you get the chicken shawarma!"

"booked afternoon for a baby shower with friends for we came to ask if we want a drink, drinks came out and we asked the choice of sandwich fillings, from us did not want any fish fillings, we waited. until no one else came over, a waitress asked if we need to know that we are ready for our pre-booked afternoon tea and what is the situation with the sandwiches. she told us that the afternoon will not begin until I said I booked a few weeks ago and was not told that I also had a phone call to confirm a few days earlier. they asked to talk to manager who came over l and said that the cook was not happy to do us the afternoon now, but he wants to try, then it actually arrived? not sure what happened to the communication there. asked the manager if there is a chance to change the salmon sandwiches, and was quite rudely said that during the week they asked if there were any diet demands that we didn't even say, but maybe the cook could do a simple cheese sandwich! (we thought they were allergic, so maybe our bad as we should ask more about the nutritional requirements. we started to eat what was actually quite delicious, the little cakes were amazing, then we realized that we had no tea or coffee, so I asked the manager when it comes out, their answer was that they still ordered it? we were then left to our own devices, although the tee was refilled for us. I sincerely never complain about mealtimes, but we were all so excited to see each other and to be our mother, and it really has a damper on the afternoon for us, which was a real shame. it was just for the afternoon tee so not a bad price, but I'm sorry to say that the service was pants, we will not return."

"with such an amazing location (only a few meters from kew garden’s elizabeth gate) we expected that eating the usual price for tourist, but all the dishes we ordered were really extraordinary! that included the meal of my man who is a celiac. He...has made an exceptional hand burger in a rustic, gluten-free roll with gluten-free three-fold boiled chips. he said the chips were the best he ever had in a restaurant or pub. I had a trio of pub snacks and I must say that the Scotch egg was the best thing I ever had with a beautiful soft egg. my son had the fish and chips. the fish was cooked in a really crispy teig to perfection. the pub itself is beautiful with a really cozy interieur in winter. I would say, however, that it is the service that really makes this pub: the young woman who served us was so welcoming and attentive. she really made our meal a special experience. the next time we are in kew, which will unfortunately not be until the early year, we will return definitiw! we could not recommend this pub anymore. (P.S in summer there are beautiful sitting options outside kew green"

"I 'm no too enamoured with establishments bribing you with discounts for 5* reviews as do Posh Fish Chips. Bit dishonest me thinks. That said...I 've made two visits to the shop on Llantrissant Road...and both times been really pleased. We like that they serve more than just cod which we 're not too fond of. We 've had both the hake and haddock... and both were excellent. They were cooked to order, in good fresh fat (no stale old fat smells wafting out the door) with a very generous helping of decent quality chips. If I 've got one niggle and that was the fat wasn 't drained enough from the fish..so ended up being slightly 'soggy ' by the time I 'd made the 2 mile journey home. However, under the grill for a couple of mins and the fish was crispened and the flavour remained excellent. So, whether on my next visit I get discount...or not, is by the way. This is a chippy I can heartily recommend. So Posh Fish Chips, cut out the bribery and continue to deliver good quality food...and we will come back."

"I tried lunch here. I quite liked the venue as it seemed alternative, with artistic types inside (and space upstairs for live music and spoken word events). I was disappointed by the food unfortunately. I went for the burrito which I found way too hot (spicy) and tomatoey. I didn't feel it was that great in terms of vegan main food options and think it could have been more imaginative. It is not really wheelchair accessible as the toilets are up a lot of stairs. If I ate sugar, I would probably go more as there did seem to be more vegan sweet options."

"Beautiful tea room, friendly service and what they had on offer was absolutely top notch. Would definitely give 5* but they were on a reduced menu so there was only one item for someone with dairy allergies (and none for vegans) which was the reason we'd gone because they'd gotten great reviews for their vegan options. We'll try again next time we're in the area though as their coffee was lovely. Service: Dine in Meal type: Other Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"extensive menu and eating was nice. a few ok ales available in bottles along with the standard cookery types on design. friendly and helpful staff, cash and card accepted. they have a roof terrace that looked nice but not in use on our visit, which I could not fully understand how ideal in the sun looked out and additional seating outside that would have been useful. it is worth eating a bite or drinking quickly in the sun."

"Arrived not really knowing what to expect but chose this inn for its location as we planned visits to friends and family nearby. What a great decision it was to stay here. We were immediately welcomed by friendly staff. The inn serves excellent beer (Timothy Taylor’s which was our first pleasant discovery. The first night we also discovered what excellent food was served with imaginative touches to traditional dishes from the chef. Breakfast was equally great with very generous proportions. The inn was kept very busy with diners at lunchtime and in the evenings (certainly at the weekend and the six available guest rooms seemed fully occupied. We were glad we booked some time in advance for the four nights we stayed. So booking is recommended for diners, and early booking for overnight guests its certainly worth it. All the staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, no matter how busy they were. All brilliant at multi tasking! The food on our other evenings did not disappoint, and breakfast was consistently good. The only slight drawback was an intermittent wifi but this certainly would not deter us from a repeat visit. As an added bonus we were able to top up charge our EV using a standard domestic socket outside the garage (where there was ample parking . Very slow charge but a boon before we set off again on a long trip when we left. (So if you drive an EV do pack an domestic supply three pin plug converter. Thank you to Jayne and all the staff for making our stay so great!"

"We were stuck on where to go for a decent Lunch and had not ventured through the hallowed doors of the Savoy since its refurbishment, and would I pass the old fashioned dress code? Jacket and Tie,Sir We certainly weren 't turned away in smart trousers and shirt and a table was quickly found when the receptionist found we had not reserved.. On the plus side the refurbished room was bright, and not over bearing. Tables for once were nicely spaced and laid with minimal clutter and initial drinks service was quick..then it all went down hill. Bread arrived warm and fresh but no butter!! we asked and then got Salted butter do you have unsalted butter? Sure a further wait..eventually a lump of butter arrived and we were told so sorry for the delay, we had to send somebody to the shop to get it ...any chance of some fresh warm bread that will be another 10 mins, Sir . Starters came and went, not very inspiring and maybe they had gone out to buy the smoked salmon form the local shop aswell. Main courses were only a little better, plates were cold and the actually dishes just warm. Service seemed a little chaotic, and we were expecting our mian dishes to be announced (our staters were) but they were literally plonked on the table. Can I have some mustard? sure they must of found there was no mustard in the local shop, because the mustard never arrived. The wine list is impressive and there are plenty of reasonable priced wines, we picked a beautiful Sancerre that didn 't break the bank. Although request a wine bucket on the table otherwise you will remain thirsty!! We took coffee in the grand lounge which was the best part of the lunch. Although inexpensive, we will certainly be having lunch elsewhere next time."

"Went to Maypole fisheries today and the food and service was excellent we had 1 regular Haddock and chips and 1 regular Haddock with half chips and half salad and it didn't disappoint. The regular Haddock was massive, so I can't imagine how big the special Haddock was! A drink and bread and butter were included in the price too. The young lady that served us was very polite and attentive. were stuffed after our meal. I would highly recommend the Maypole and will certainly be back when in Otley again"

"The restaurant is located in an incredible building with stunning views of the sea. The quality of the food is excellent, making it a worthwhile dining experience, though it isn't exactly a budget option. It's a popular spot, which is evident by how busy they get, and now I understand why. The longest bank is conveniently located right by the promenade, which is also worth checking out. Great job!"

"I visited this restaurant to grab a bite and opted for the spectacular avocado sandwich. I was not disappointed—it was truly delicious, perfectly sized, with a delightful broth and tasty fillings. My friend ordered a salmon and cream cheese sandwich, which was equally delightful. We were also impressed by the coffee; it was great, especially since coffee can often be on the bitter side."

"I didn't have a good experience at this fish and chips shop, but decided to give it one more try. I ordered a fish supper, 2 king rib suppers, and a chicken fillet supper. It was absolutely terrible - everything was burnt to a crisp and had a strong smell of burned oil. It was obvious that the boss wasn't present at the time."

"After I had a casual drink with my friend, this girl fell in a jumpsuit completely over the table I sat on. a long story short to cut. I was the man I was sitting on because I said she should be removed and her friends should be removed because they were so drunk. I said to the doorman to get his hands off me and he said I should go! I asked for the manager who started to quote the management! So I'm going to have a formal complaint about the door staff and the manager who leads the square"

"Well we're do we start, we ordered the take away which they told us would take 30 minutes, which in fact took nearly an hour, which every time we called the delivery seemed to be a constant 10 minutes away. After all that we then received the food which was cold, tasteless and stodgy! I would avoid at all cost! Will not be wasting my money at this establishment!"

"after a lot of good reviews and recommendations, the experience here was awful and i left feeling as if i shouldn't have bothered at all. It wasn't busy at all and there was really no excuse for the lack of service or care that came from the staff. we were sat down and then left for 10 minuets before ordering a drink, think we were forgotten but we ordered drinks and food at the same time. when the plates came out the food was hot and looked nice except there were no peas. we were then told that they didn't have any peas. nice to have known. the chips were burnt and tasteless, just looked like they had been recooked from the day before to be honest. there was no check back and nobody to talk to to ask for replacements as we were round the back. we did tell the staff before paying but were just shrugged off. terrible service and the food wasn't that good in the end either. wish i had just walked a bit further."

"Visited The Tap Tavern recently because friend B used to go there in his misspent youth in the 70s and wanted to see his old stamping ground. It was mid-afternoon and completely empty (so we were pleased it was open and serving), so one could hardly say there was any atmosphere. Very nice beer, a generous bowl of mixed nuts, and pleasant serving staff. Apparently the place had changed over the intervening half century (including its name) but the perilous ascent up rickety wooden stair to the loos I guess has not changed! Be careful if you're infirm! Otherwise it's a place I'd happily recommend."
