"This place has that rare charm of a tourist spot while genuinely feeling like a local hangout—unlike the ubiquitous tourist traps on lower Broadway, with the exception of Robert's Western World. I had the pleasure of working nearby for nearly a year and ended up visiting a couple of times a week, probably more than 100 times. So, while I rave about the place, why only four stars? I actually considered giving it three. (Spoiler: I’m a former chef, and I have some strong opinions about food.) The food here is incredibly inconsistent. Let’s begin with the sides: the cheddar grits were the most bland, least cheesy I’ve ever encountered—totally lacking in salt (and that’s a recurring theme). The snap peas were oily and again, had no salt. The braised greens, while also oily, were at least flavorful. The hash brown casserole, however, was fantastic—rich in onion flavor, cheesy, and delicious. But for $4.99, you only get a small scoop, roughly the size of a scoop from Baskin-Robbins. It's just potatoes, after all! Some entrees leave much to be desired. The ribeye—while I understand this isn't primarily a steakhouse—was served with absolutely no salt or pepper, and I honestly didn’t know ribeyes could be that thin. The salmon also fell short; the bland snap peas were paired with it, drenched in a maple bourbon sauce that also desperately needed salt and perhaps a hint of acid, like a squeeze of lemon. When the highlight of the salmon dish is the solid mashed sweet potatoes, you know there’s a problem. The BBQ here is decent; I particularly enjoyed the chicken. I love brisket, but sometimes it’s just as I expect—fatty, juicy, and smoky/salty—while other times, it resembles overcooked pot roast. Their sauces are forgettable; I can't even recall their names since I'd never go looking for them again. The regular BBQ sauce is cloyingly sweet, the hot sauce is closer to sweet chili sauce, and the white BBQ is nearly ranch dressing (served with the fried green tomatoes, which I initially thought was ranch until my server asked for my opinion). The fried green tomatoes are delightful, but just like the hash brown casserole, they’re overpriced at $12 for a cute taco-style presentation that barely includes half of one medium tomato. I’ve had fried green tomatoes for $8 that could feed two, served on a generous platter. I’m not a fan of the smash burger trend; in my opinion, there are only three ways to order a burger (which also applies to steak): rare, medium-rare, and “don’t order a burger.” It’s nearly impossible to get the temperature I prefer with smash burgers, but at least they’re tasty enough. In summary: come for the amazing music and fantastic staff, but don’t expect to rely on the food."

"Heard the word? (sorry) Bird is AMAZING. I’d heard it mentioned and lauded by friends but never really knew much about it – other than assuming (correctly and understandably) that it served up fried chicken. But, rather than being a cheapy Chicken Cottage type affair, Bird bring Southern Fried goodness firmly into the forefront of London’s foodie gems. Upon arrival around 5.30pm on a Thursday evening, the restaurant was very quiet so our booking was almost unnecessary but the space filled up more as we ate. As the restaurant was quiet, we were served quickly and our food was with us around 15mins after ordering the only fault I'd mention for service was actually that three seperate staff members asked us if our food was okay unnecessary, but hardly hugely problematic! Rather than the below pictured Original Waffle Burger, I had the signature Fried Chicken, Waffles and Syrup. I really didn’t think it would work but it SO TOTALLY DID. Seriously, wow. The chicken itself was fried to perfection – a crispy exterior encasing soft, falling off the bone meat, complemented perfectly by the sweetness of the runny maple syrup. I also picked up some fries with my dish definitely a solid choice, well cooked and delicious but still paling into comparison to the wonder that was my main dish. Quite honestly you probably don't need sides doing this but the variety of glazes for the chicken wings is impressive, with something for all tastes. There's a slight focus on Asian flavours for a lot of the glazes too. I've already actually made plans to make a return visit and for someone who tends to try loads of restaurants rather than go back to regulars, that’s a big seal of approval."

"I 'll start this by confessing I 've been a victim of my own snobbishness here because I initially wrote off this place on the map because the name didn 't suggest high quality food in my view. Sounded like yet another frozen pizza joint. How wrong I was! I love this place now and won 't get pizza anywhere else. When I was bored by chicken shack style frozen pizza, and baulking at the price of Domino 's, I set about searching for a local pizza takeout that did thin, oven fired pizza and I found Pickle Rick 's again! Gave it a shot and loved it. Delivery is always on time, or you can collect easily. Or even eat in amongst the really nice decor. And the quality of the pizza is excellent, most importantly! Thin, oven fired by hand and the ingredients feel quality. I 'm a ham and pineapple heathen and I love the thick ham hock and pineapple jam they use on the Hamurai pizza. I 've collected just once and the staff were friendly and prioritised my order which I appreciated! I intend to go eat in when I can. So yeah definitely give this a go instead of going anywhere else! It 's worth it. Vegetarian options: Veg pizza is easy to find. Kid-friendliness: You could certainly bring your kids to eat out here, it 's nice inside, and try to explain Rick Morty to them while you do! Parking: No dedicated parking so you 'll need to find a nearby car park or park in the streets off the main road. Wheelchair accessibility: Their front door is a tight airlock style porch with a small lip so a wheelchair may not fit. I don 't know if there 's another entrance. Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Parking space: Somewhat difficult to find parking Parking options Free street parking"
