"We went for the brunch menu which we have had before and me and my partner brought friends who where over from Ireland. I dont why it had changed from the way is used to be set up but it was terrible, the food to help your self too wasnt even ready and out when we turned up so we had to wait before we could get any soup and bread, then range of starters was tiny and terrible but just in bigger bowls than it used to be. It was about 15 minute wait for the bread rolls, and then took the staff over 20 after we had finished the soup before relaising we had and asled if we wanted the roast which took over 15 minutes to come out and even when it did the veg was burnt and discoloured, things where missing off 3 of the 4 plates and one of my friends didnt eat any of it as it was that bad. A couple behind us didnt eat much of theres and a table of 20 there for a birthday also complained about thr tiny selection of starter food but when they did the chief brought a larger selection out which annoyed us further as we didnt get a the offer of a bigger selection. The staff didnt have a brain cell between then, tables where left dirty for over hald a hour and they still where sorted properly when we left. We had to clear our own plated into the bar so we had some room and there was plenty off staff but the women just followed each other round like lost sheep. The only one with a braincell was the guy who was the manger but even then he couldnt do it all on his own or manage the staff well. We where told the way that is set up is going to change again and it wont even be an all you can eat section and just set course meals. We will not be back again and will be telling people not to go either"

"I don't even know where to begin with this place. The restaurant has huge stained glass windows that look impressive from the street. There are plenty of parking spaces available. The building itself is absolutely beautiful and has a fascinating history. It is located in a lovely area, just a short walk to the clifftops. I spent two nights here for my birthday and had an amazing time! The interior of the building is absolutely stunning, with art everywhere, wooden paneling on the walls, and magnificent fireplaces scattered throughout. The service in the dining room was friendly and efficient. The food was of a very high standard, with plenty of options on the menu to choose from. We stayed in a luxury double room with a sea view that was simply gorgeous, especially at sunset. The room was clean, tidy, and well-decorated, with plenty of space. The bed was huge and very comfortable. I have to give a special shoutout to Stu and Care (the ginger girls) who not only excelled at their jobs, but also went above and beyond to make my birthday special. Stu was attentive and caring, while Care was a big ball of energy and laughter. These two employees really made my stay unforgettable. The entire staff was wonderful, but these two stood out to me. I will definitely be returning and would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a fantastic getaway."

"Ignored on arrival, so we sat at a table which was not designated reserved. We helped ourselves to menus, selected our main course and ordered at the bar. The pub was near empty but a waiter consistently kept his back to us and when he turned to face us gave us the feeling we were invisible. The food arrived within a fairly acceptable time. My friends fish was ok 'ish. My chicken dish, given as coq au van was very poor. The vegetables were old and reheated and only the limp carrots had a little flavour. The chicken was tasteless and the skin had not been removed, which is standard practice as no one likes soggy white chicken skin. The sauce was worse of all. The colour and taste suggested gravy granules had been used, there was barely a hint of wine, whether red or white was impossible to determine. The dish it was served on was damaged, a black rim around the inner bowl. In over 40 years as a professional cook this meal is one of the worst. However, to add to insult to injury, the response by the member of staff I complained to led to a very insincere apology. This was negated by her declaration that she was very surprised as this was a favourite dish of their customers, with no complaints at all. She forcefully reiterated this point. The black rim was explained away as caused by the dishwasher and all their plates were affected this way. The pudding tasted ok, but evidently a pre-made product microwaved. However, it was served on a mini 'frying ' pan with a tiny amount of syrup. This was then placed on a flat platter with custard in a tiny sauce boat. More importance and emphasis on 'clever ' presentation than on ease of eating. Also, a fork is essential to go with the spoon in order to prevent having to chase food around a flat based platter! We only had a spoon each. This pub has gone downhill. Poor quality food, pricey and poor service."
