"I booked a meal at Shepherds Restaurant because it was convenient for an event we attended before having lunch because we were attracted by the offer of 25% discount on the whole bill. On balance the food was expensive for what it was. Shepherds pie for instance was priced at £19 or £19.50 came literally as just a small bowl of shepherds pie with no other accompaniment other than a small bottle of Worcester sauce. I found that bemusing because the shepherds pie should surely be tasty moist enough to not require additional Worcester sauce. The shepherds pie did not look very moist a small jug of gravy would have made a good accompaniment the dish. We all had potted shrimps to start but these did not arrive potted but had been turned out on to a slice of toasted brioche. The shrimps were not especially tasty or inspiring. I thought the brioche was too sweet did not pair well with the shrimps. The bread on the table was very tasty would have been better with the shrimps. One of our group ordered the Barnsley lamb chop which arrived with a sprig of rosemary on top but was otherwise totally unaccompanied by sauce, gravy or anything else. The service was a little rushed my friend’s empty wine glass was taken straight from her hand as soon as she had finished drinking without any enquiry as to whether any more wine was wanted. When paying their bill the table next to us who had the same 25% discount offer found their bill was for the full price although it was amended when challenged. The same thing happened to my table being charged the full amount made a difference of £70 ! We challenged the bill it was duly amended, but my dining friends I were not impressed by this. We got the impression that they were trying it on if you were not quick enough to spot that you had not received the discount, you could easily pay the full price. Overall it was a disappointing experience I would not return or recommend Shepherds."

"A fabulous Italian restaurant great atmosphere, fabulous service and food, and lovely staff. A group of six of us had dinner there on Saturday night after seeing Abba Voyage and when the staff heard where we had been they put Abba music on! It was my birthday and although no one in our party had told the staff they overheard us talking and made my dessert extra special with a huge sparkler. We had a great night and will definitely go back."

"Our third time at La Lanterna, it’s reputation for the best Italian Restaurant in Glasgow is well deserved. The food is superb and authentically cooked and presented by wonderful and friendly Italian staff, who know their dishes and are proud of the quality of the food they serve you. Fantastic wine list with lovely Pinot Grigio, Trentino and Sicilian Grillo whites, being our favourites, but there are dozens more of all types, reasonably priced. The dishes from the wonderfully light dipping bread, crispy arrancini and mouthwatering scallop starters, followed by veal Milanese with wild mushroom tagliatelle and my wife’s rich flavour packed lasagne were fantastic. I had the Zabaglione alla Marsala which was a revelation and is now favourite dessert!, my wife had the chefs special chocolate mousse which was so light and melted in your mouth, gorgeous. All of this delicious food was helped along with a bottle Grillo too. Not cheap, but I think very reasonably priced for the high standard of the meal and service from the staff and chefs. Quality is not expensive, it’s priceless! We will definitely return. Outstanding Italian restaurant."

"Pretty disappointed as it was my husband's 40th birthday treat. I've been here in the past on a number of occasions and have always felt in safe hands however the whole experience, this time, was underwhelming. Waiters did not seem confident with the menu. The starters were okay but generally lacklustre. The steak was very chewy and gristly and my cod dish was very green and slimy, lacking in flavour and any texture other than mush. The bread was delicious however I resent paying £90 odd quid for a meal where the bread is the highlight. Didn't risk dessert. Went to M&S instead."

"the third time when eating in social dhaba, great atmosphere, beautifully decorated, personal was really friendly and polite. they've checked us a lot, but not intrusive. eating was delicious, but as always we had ordered some appetizers and they were all quite spicy, even for the chili lovers of our party. we drank a lot of boundless water. Please note that it is not ideal for younger children who cannot tolerate cold heat. but social dhaba I am back!"

"Upon arriving for our Saturday night pre-theatre dinner, we found that the staff were slow to greet us and assist with taking our order at the bar or looking into reservations. Unfortunately, there was an issue with booking through OpenTable and our reservation was not found. Despite this, the staff were able to seat us at a table. The food was delicious and the service was friendly, but a bit slow, preventing us from ordering a second course."

"Went here for dinner. Food was good, on the expensive side for what it was. Service was friendly and good, but you expect it to be when you go for dinner. Bit more upmarket place than a pub, nice environment. My only negative was the added 12.5% service charge. My absolute pet hate. What happened to tipping if you want to? I strongly object to this freedom to add it it to the bill without permission. Based on that I would not go out of my way to go back. Life is expensive enough these days without the 'presumption ' you should add a tip for the pleasure of someone taking a food and drink order and bringing it to your table. They are already being paid to do that. If it is a management thing, then increase the prices by 12.5% on the menu and be transparent about it. I object that you add it to the bill, unauthorised. You say, it 's discretionary, and you can ask for it to be removed, that puts a lot of people in an (un necessary) uncomfortable position to have to 'ask ' for it to be removed in the first place. I for one would, others would be embarrassed to do so. How about just 'not putting it there in the first place '? Just because others have started doing this does not make it right."

"On Open Table we picked a waterfront view restaurant for 7:30pm. When we arrived, the restaurant name was not clearly marked and we found out it was a Hooka Lounge, not the restaurant it was made out to be in Open Table. They directed us to the inside restaurant where the owner or manager greeted us rudely and told us we should know what restaurant we were booking and that he had a full house coming in at 8:00 pm (1/2 the restaurant was empty or tables were getting up). We were very upset as it was late and we were now far from all other places to eat so we sat by the bar. He finally conceeded to sit us at a regular table. We ordered drinks and the waitress came back to tell us they couldn 't make those drinks. We ordered a 2nd set of drinks and the same thing happened. I then just ordered a glass of wine. Restaurant was so dark, we could barely read the menu. Food was good but they wanted to bring out apps and food all at once after we told them we wanted oysters first with drinks. I would not recommend nor go back"

"Use their standalone app for several years without a big problem (some confused orders, usually sorted, but the food is good so it is worth a bit of faff) But this time the restaurant has refused to get the order, and claims that I ordered from somewhere else, despite the fact that it has listed their phone number that I called via app orders without problem on the same app that I have for years, the same settings, with payment under Pizza omore trade name. The guy in the restaurant finally told me that it's not his problem and that *I* have to call *her* app developers to sort it. Absolute shame. Avoid."

"We came as a group for the brunch menu. Firstly the service was perfect. There was no interruptions when needed, we was assisted when required and the waiters constantly made sure our glasses were topped up. I personally went with the prime rib eye steak 400gr cooked to medium rare. Honestly it was divine, highest quality steak I have. Perfectly cooked and seasoned which was presented very well on the plate. Served it with a size of mashed potato which was amazing and once again cannot fault the taste one bit. We ordered a variety of dishes amongst all of us, the mains to share plate are not to share trust me. The drawback is that the portion sizes are very small so much so I did not take the time to take images of them. So for me price to quantity ratio was very poor. The costs are high, portions are small (4 pounds for a bottle of water was a bit questionable) However I believe the quality of food superceded any drawbacks for me and I feel I couldnt drop a star based on the quality that was provided along with the service. The surroundings of the restaurant where we was seated downstairs was really nice. Nice aura which let us eat comfortably. Would I recommend this place again, yes for sure. That rib eye steak for me is a must to try if you don't mind spending just a bit more."

"When we arrived for a Saturday night pre-theatre dinner staff were slow to approach us to either take an order at the bar or look into reservations. I was then informed that there is an issue with booking with Open Table and therefore didn’t have our reservation. Staff did however manage to find us a table. "I have to say this is the only time I have visited where I haven’t been satisfied It took ages for our order to be take for drinks when they eventually did take our drinks order we jumped at the chance and ordered our food. The starter arrived which was a sharing Camembert and we were not offered side plates which meant there was lots of cheese over the table after we had finished The food was ok I have no complaints there but after our plates were cleared for the main they did nor ask us to see the dessert menu or asked if we would like anything else. We waited and waited thinking that she would come back and we tried to get their attention without shouting by this time she had cleared the table next to us was being cleared and she immediately offered them the dessert menu. After half an hour of waiting to see the menu my fiancÃe had to walk up to the staff in the other room and ask for the bill because we weren’t going to be ordering desserts after having to wait. They were very apologetic but by this time it was too late. As myself and my partner don’t get to go on dates very often it ruined our one night out Service is everything in any establishment whether you’re eating pub grub or Michelin star food it’s not difficult to give great service and be attentive but when you clearly have wait staff who really clearly don’t want to be there it really shows I’m hoping this isn’t a regular occurrence but we won’t be going back for a little while."

"We had been looking forward to this lunch to celebrate our 2nd wedding anniversary. We had stayed at the Old Parsonage during our wedding weekend, so returning with our daughter was particularly meaningful to us. "Came here for a brunch with the girls after finishing University. The drinks are absolutely gorgeous! The food was okay, we had a platter to share, it was nothing special. The pizza was very good. I had a great time here until the waitress was incredibly rude. We added our student discount and she stated we didnt look like students and walked off. We also removed the service charge (to tip in cash) and the women again was incredibly rude and stroppy, said okay purposefully avoiding eye contact and stropped off again. Didnt leave the tip in the end, disgusting attitude. She was very short and rude to us the entire time."

"the restaurant is very nicely decorated, but eating and service do not fit to this experience. we sat as close to other people on other tables as it was fed with them. we visited pre concert and chose the concert menu. the appetiser came within minutes of ordering, there was not much for the price. the main thing we had to wait for over 45 minutes, which it was not good, and we always said it was on the way. eating when it came, average curry was really. it was obviously boiled in a huge batch as it was on the set menu, so not sure why it took so long. the service was not great. we were never asked if it was in order or if we wanted a drink. we had only koks and that was quite expensive at £3 for a small bottle. Overall I think that the place is very nice, but eating was best on average and the service bad. the set menu was £25 per person who was not worth for what she actually got. we saw a 10% service fee on our bill that we were asked to be removed. it tried, but would not go back."

"I have been working at the red rose for over 2 years, both as a driver and as a waiter. I know the restaurant and the food to be clean and look. after 25 years there is the same boss. he flaps over and panic when it starts to be too busy, but this is because he cares about 110% to get the food to the customers, and he knows what he does! the same as for the rest of the staff. they are regular long-term employees who are well-trained and qualified, and always go from there to make their visit as beautiful as possible. the personal is always for a laugh and sweat. they are very professional, but from them they crack a sweat with them, they will join and will not ignore it they are good fun and fun to work. Currently there are only alcohol-free drinks on the menu starting in October 2021."

"Having visited this take away whilst on business, I ordered a large pizza, was charged £11.95 plus 45p to pay with card. Whilst waiting outside for the pizza to be made, I noticed the advertised price for any large pizza was £7.99. I returned to...the cashier to ask why I was charged more than the advertised price. The manager was called to explain'. His response was, we advertise a price of £7.99 but if you do not ask for that price, we charge you £11.95. Quite astonished and expecting some form of apology along with a refund for the difference, I was met with an argumentative manager' who simply asserted it was my fault for not asking for the advertised price! I demanded a refund and sadly had to find an alternative take away (which turned out to provide a better service, product amd price). Very disappointing indeed!"

"The waitress brought he wrong order. We told her twice but she was confused. Seized the plates on our table and left. We ordered a Breakfast that included juice. Never came. Coffee was included in the meal we ordered but she charged us for coffee and then said the machine was broken and did not refund us. A 50 pound breakfast Renee up costing 95 pounds. So I paid 132 dollars for a breakfast I did not order. Also we got charged for for cafes cause the waitress took my husband drink when it was still half full. This is a nice place to eat but I would never return. I should have just told the manager but I didn’t want to be a Karen. But ordering breakfast is not that complicated."
