"We have been looking for the perfect steak since we moved to the area. We also like to eat locally sourced food. We also like a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. We also like to support independent businesses whenever we can. Westbourne Grill House completely exceeded our expectations. The menu has so many wonderful dishes on it but for our first visit, we tried the sirloin and the fillet. Both were cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Nice and succulent and the sides come as standard, which you can change if you wish. Really recommend the Ribshack Red Pinotage-Shiraz to accompany the steaks. Very enjoyable! We are looking forward to returning and trying other things on the menu, although it's going to be hard not to choose the steaks again!"

"Came here with my boyfriend for lunch and it did not disappoint. I haven’t been here for a couple of years now but always drive by. When we entered, the big fire was on and we were served by the lovely Jamie-Leigh, who is lovely bubbly member of staff! We ordered the signature and the Cajun burgers, both were delicious. The only thing we could suggest is a little bit more sauce, apart from that everything was great. Thank you for having us and we hope to be back soon! Courtney Rhys"

"Just had a take-away vegetarian quesadilla probably the worst I've ever had : pieces glued together which made it impossible to eat without spilling everything out and retaining an unappealing mass of dough and cheese, vegetables that looked like the cheap mixed ready chopped' frozen kind oozing liquid that tasted of school dinners, and an absolute absence of anything remotely connected to spices, herbs, or Mexico. The accompanying pico de gallo had clearly seen better days which was not surprising given that a lady working there emptied the remains of a tub of iceberg and tomato into a fresh tub, oblivious to the disparate stages of freshness. The only redeeming aspect was the...read more"

"Staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. But no idea what happened to the food! 2 mixed grills ordered. One medium , one medium rare. Both were medium rare and tough, sausages missing off one, chicken missing off the other, tomato missing off one, a member of staff did rush out with 2 sausages just prior to me going to ask where they were. Both people in our party said their grill wasn’t hot. 2 festive salmon dishes were lovely but again food wasn’t hot. 2 children’s deserts were meant to be topped with strawberry, not a strawberry in site, try telling a 4 year old and a 2 year old where Santas hat had gone. The pre ordered deserts we had to ask for as they seemed to have forgotten. A after eight sundae arrived with loads of after eights in but whole! Very difficult to negotiate around the sundae glass. I’ve had this at another brewers fayre and they were cut into pieces). Whoever made this needs lessons in presentation. But thanks for the 9 in total after eight mints. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 3 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommended dishes: Bacon Cheese Burger, Fish, Triple Chocolate Brownie, Ice Cream Sundae With, Mixed Grill"

"While the “Eat out to help out” scheme is running we have taken the opportunity to try plenty of places that we’ve been meaning to visit for a while. Today it was the Boat Inn it’s a lovely place in a nice spot. The food was as good as I hoped, I especially like the black pudding scotch egg. However, I don’t know if they had staff issues today, because we had to wait forever for both starters and mains. There were three adults and two kids in our party, the adults ordered starters and mains and the kids wanted mains and desserts. It was 30 minutes before the starters were delivered which I suppose isn’t too bad, but the kids meals didn’t come until the mains, which were an hour later. 2 hungry kids for one and a half hours. Also when asked if we needed any more drinks we asked for another Diet Coke which never arrived until we asked two more times for. Then when the mains were cleared we had to wait for the kids desserts. We arrived at 3pm and the place was almost empty until we left so I don’t know what the issue was. But regarding the kids meals every other place we’ve visited always deliver the kids meals along with the adult meals. Apart from these issues, which I’m prepared to accept were ‘a one off’ its well worth a visit and the food is superb, so we will probably return to try the Sunday roast as I’ve heard it is tremendous."

"This place looked really good and I fancied a sovalaki.. We ordered and were served quite quickly.. Maybe too quickly as the pitta was cold and the chicken seemed underdone. The price for 2 and 2 coffees was over £15.00 I think a tad on the expensive side. That would all be one thing but I am sat here some hours later with a terrible upset stomach rushing to the loo and feeling very sick. i should have gone with my instinct that the chicken was under cooked.I may have been unlucky but it will be my last visit."

"We celebrated our daughter's birthday at The Farmer's Home and had a fantastic dinner. The portions were generous and the food was delicious. The staff was welcoming and provided excellent service. Despite living near Durley, we hadn't visited in 2 years and wondered why we hadn't returned sooner. We will definitely be coming back as the evening was wonderful. It was great to see a variety of vegetarian options on the menu. I had the vegetarian lasagna, which was beautifully cooked. Highly recommend for vegetarians looking for a tasty meal."

"Booked via email for people to have Xmas lunch Friday Dec as advertised on Miners Peg Marston’s web site (unable to book on line as booking section would not allow you to enter information of time and number of guests etc) Booking...accepted by email for On arrival we were informed that we could not have the Xmas menu if it was only bookable online prior to visiting pub. This condition was not evident on the website. We were then given a paper table menu, which offered various number of choices on offer When going to the bar to order steak and ale pie dinners, we were told they were not available along with many other dishes due to supply issues When asking what they did have we were faced with a choice of Chicken Tikka Masala Sausage and mash Another chicken option We decided to leave and go to The Mount (happy horse) in Orrell instead and had a lovely meal off their menu. (There were people sitting around bar area doing paperwork with a laptop etc, garden benches were being delivered but unfortunately no focus on issues relating to customer service) Very disappointing !!!! No point giving out a menu if their only geared up to sell alcohol."

"Arrive to a pre booked table for 6 people, we ordered three breakfast, bacon and sausage sandwich poached eggs on toast.. We waited 1 hour for breakfast to arrive, nothing exceptional, tasty sausage well cooked eggs, but the majority of it was cold, cold tomatoes, cold bacon, frustration of waiting so long totally spoiled what was supposed to be a new year treat for the family. We won't be back!!"

"I recently visited this restaurant for the first time and was warmly welcomed by the lovely Jackie. She seated my cousins and me at a comfortable round table that she thought would be perfect for us to chat. Jackie was incredibly friendly and went out of her way to make us feel at home, even taking a photo of our group. We truly appreciated her hospitality and it made our day special. Thank you, Jackie!"

"We was staying in the adjoining hotel and it was very convenient to have the Beefeater to dine at, staff on arrival was friendly and seated us in a nice area with a choice of a few tables, The atmosphere was lovely just the right level of music and it was cosy too, love the open planned layout too very nice. Our server was Olivia and she was lovely, very attentive and was so calm and friendly throughout the evening even tho it was busy she never rushed anyone and had time for each table, The food was well presented and very tasty, worth its money, very giid size tooit was definitely value for money, one starter 2 mains and 3 drinks i think £54 was a reasonable price."

"on Saturday night on the way back from nottingham. pub is beautiful inside and spacious, although we were busy to show a table. we ordered and even though we advise, it could wait a minute that we didn't...mind the food came in about minen and was good, well presented and hot, both I and my wife enjoyed it. what pampered the evening, the three teenagers on the next table were two youngs and a girl and the continued use of the F word that we could clearly hear. we have thought about bringing it to the attention of a fellow worker, but it seemed that they were kind with the staff anyway, as the young behind the bar with them a few times embarrassed and at a point screamed over one of the young with names and said he admired him for that on the jack daniels. we had planned on a dessert, but both my wife and I had heard enough of the speech and we left until this time. A pity that some of the workers did not make the management aware, as they must have heard it when they brought food to the tables. as a scandal as eating and service were good. I would like to think it was a departure, but since some of the employees knew them with names and seemed friendly with them, I am not so sure. to be clear, I am not a prudential one and have worked on places where bad speech is and is accepted every day, but a family pub where people enjoy a meal with children is not one of them."
"Other half wanted to treat me to a meal out, worse thing we done, appears to have changed ownership, wouldn't recommend, the food was awful chips were like Crisps overcooked with no filling apart from oil, Club sandwich fried egg was almost raw and 3 miserable pieces of chicken on it and a very small piece of bacon, the bread was wafer thin and overall it was so dry couldn't eat it, who puts fried egg on a Club sandwich apparently the waitress said its a new chef owners are English. Won't be back."

"Cruising the Leeds Liverpool canal yesaterday on a hire canal boat with 8 other family and friends for a long delayed special birthday celebration we decided to stop to look for refreshments and a meal in Adlington. Walking round the village we stumbled across this restaurant on the main street and asked if they had a table for 9, we weren't sure they would have room as there was a Country Fair on and the streets and pubs were very busy. We were welcomed in and given a large table by their very attentive staff who immediately proceeded to see we were settled in and gave us menus whilst taking our orders for drinks. After being given time to select our food from the very wide choices on the menu, our order was taken, each of us chosing one main course but all varied. The food was served some little time later again with their pleasant staff personally attending to see that all was in order and we were allowed to enjoy, yes really enjoy, our choice from the freshly prepared food, pasta, pizza, soup and chips which were all delicious, generous in portions and very reasonable in price. The surrounings are rustic, very clean and modern and there is plenty of room for all the patrons to eat undisturbed by comings and goings and a complete absence of music which in some places can spoil the atmosphere when too loud. Very impressed by this lovely, welcoming restaurant and cannot speak highly enough of the ambience, pleasant welcoming staff, quality of food and reasonable prices. We certainly will hope to visit again. Thanks to all at Bistecca Mediteranean."

"We popped into this pub for a drink whilst travelling around North Devon (staying in Woolacombe . It is a visually a very attractive pub with a thatched roof. We checked to see if dogs were welcome and the staff confirmed they were (except the designated restaurant although there is a dining section in the bar area where you can take dogs . We were made to feel very welcome when we arrived. The range of drinks are great and prices reasonable. We enjoyed it so much that we went back the next day for their Carvery lunch. WOW it is awesome!! A choice of lamb, turkey and pork was on offer that day, and a generous portion given. A superb selection of vegetables were on offer with yorkies, gravy and sauces. All for £10.95. The very best carvery we have had for a long time (if not ever! . Highly recommended for just a drink and/or food as well."
