"Thanks to the courteous helpful lady who made the recommendation, I enjoyed a lovely cheese and ham sandwich, salad and a coffee at Caesers Café.The staff were polite, friendly and attentive, Covid precautions were adhered to, the café was very clean and the prices reasonable. At the time I was only seeking a light lunch, but I did notice the substantial delicious looking fish and chip meal a gentleman was enjoying on a neighbouring table. Some other time maybe...As an aside and in the unlikely event of the first young lady walking on Terrace Road whom I asked if she could recommend a café serving sandwiches and coffees who responded Sorry, I don't have any small change”, ever reading this review, I would like to assure her that I enjoy a good pension after a successful career following several years of Military service, have never begged for money in my life and hope she never needs to."

"found this scenic little caffe below one of the backstreets right at the main square. the photos of the breakfast look very appetizing for a full English with gazed potatoes. server was pleasant enough. we have breakfast for American style and medium. the food came in separate, my wife received her five minutes after mine. a little knock was that during these five minutes other tables were served. I found that the speck on my teller was missing what was in the did a blessing in trim, because I can honestly say that this is the only time that I have eaten speck with absolutely no taste. a few other points, two of the pancakes of my wife were hard and unusable, the beautified ptotatoes from the photo were just cooked. in the did was the only article on the plate with great taste the sausage. this was a disappointment given the other independent caffes and restaurants that norwich has to offer."

"Visited with a friend for a light lunch, the first visit since release of the latest lockdown. As before the Covid precautions were excellent. Light airy restaurant, tables very well spaced so cannot fault that aspect. We wanted a toasted sandwich but for some reason...they were no longer doing them. They have now gone to sandwich of the day which turned out to be the only choice and it was Coronation Chicken, neither of us wanted that as I am not keen on chicken and my friend has a dairy intolerance. It seems odd to only offer one choice of sandwich on a lunch menu in this day and age. In the end we asked if we could have a plain ham sandwich on white bread and a charming young man said he would do this. When it turned up it was in a crunchy baguette but we didn't mind. There was no salt or pepper on the table so it was a good job I had brought my own in sachets) and I've noticed that more and more places just don't provide it any more, another anomaly post Covid We felt totally safe, the staff were charming but I do think the sandwich menu needs to be addressed."

"Thank you for the meals we purchased last week. The kids absolutely loved the ale and mash stew, saying it was the best thing they've ever eaten and they want it again soon! We enjoyed the ham and chicken hotpot tonight, it was absolutely delicious."

"We stayed at a nearby campsite and popped in for lunch and a drink. We were given a very warm welcome and seated straight away. Drinks very well priced and plenty to choose from. I was pleased to see one of my favourites on tap Inches cider. My 3 kids had food from the kids menu which received no complaints. Great portion sizes and tasty. I had 1/2 pint of prawn tails which was lovely. The whole glass was full of tails so you get more than you expect. My husband had the monkfish and chips which he said was really nice. We all had puddings too. Plenty of options with the usual pub classics choc cake, Eton mess etc but all very nice. All this was under £100! Very good value and great quality food. Staff very attentive and friendly. The pub was very busy but very well managed. A true hidden gem that won’t disappoint if you visit. Thank you Applecross Inn."

"I am extremely frustrated with this restaurant. I made a reservation for a bottomless lunch two weeks in advance, only to receive a text just a few hours before my reservation saying they could no longer accommodate food bookings for that day because the chef was ill. It's clear they don't have a backup plan for situations like this. I would never book here again, as they are not reliable."

"Very disappointing experience. Note that the advertised opening times on their website are not their actual opening times. We arrived Saturday at about 7pm and they were shut despite advertising they are open until 9. Arrived on Sunday just after 4 (advertised open until 4.30) to be told they were closed. We explained that their website advertised they were open until 4.30 and this was the second day in a row that they were closed before advertised, to be told they had changed their opening hours. The staff member behind the counter simply said they were closed and couldn't help us. Very disappointing given we had made two specific trips to go to the deli and were unable to purchase anything we had planned."

"What a find! A cafe that accepts dogs and yet has great food and service. We had fish and chips, you can have garden peas or mushy peas with your meal. The large meal had a humungous piece of fish, beautifully cooked with crisp batter. We also had the kippers, from the nearby smoke House, with toast and scrambled egg. It was lovely and the portion size very good. On the second day we had excellent crab sandwiches with a side salad. Can recommend highly. Our dog was well looked after with sausage pieces which she appreciated. There are lots of fish and chip shops in Whitby that don't allow dogs. Don't worry as you and your fur babies are well cared for here."

"'Highly recommend this place, stopped in for some much needed nourishment on a very cold and windy day, I had the sticky bbq porkbelly bites with these crackling crumbs sprinkled on top and a cabbage slaw which was exquisite presentation and lovely flavours all round. The food came out very quickly too then I had the king prawn and chorizo linguini which was again well presented and full of flavour. Place seemed a little bit empty and couldn 't understand why with such beautiful surroundings and great food too. A lovely open fire welcomes you on the way in too and very cosy. Will definitely visit again..... '"

"The food here, is easily the most beautiful food I've ever had in a restaurant or pub, I myself had the hunters chicken, it was cooked to perfection, my fiancé had the pandy burger, and as burger fanatics as we are has said its the best burger he's ever had, my mother had the faggots and has said you can easily tell they are homemade and taste gorgeous, my dad had the beef pie and said it was lovely, the chips that come with the food as well were really well cooked. Will definitely be returning."

"The locals at this restaurant created a hostile atmosphere that made me feel very uncomfortable and unable to relax. The women inside were dancing around and giving dirty looks, while a man outside accused my partner of stealing his phone. It's a shame because the pub itself is nice, but the unfriendly locals make visitors feel unwelcome. After living here for 30 years, I have been warned by several people that this pub is not welcoming, so I will be avoiding it unless I want a confrontation. I will stick to Dinkum, which is much more welcoming."

"Honestly worst full breakfast I’ve ever had, tinned tomato and the juice went all over the beans drowned the bacon and egg I only ate the sausage. The older staff where lovely the younger staff maybe 13-16 where very rude and when we asked a question just gave us a blank stare and honestly looked as though they couldn’t be bothered with anything.the younger staff definitely bring the cafe down a lot. Older man was lovey though"

"This is the only place I come to for my Rooibos tea. It is purly devine tasting. If you love Rooibos tea then you def need to come here. Its organic and the ever so friendly polite staff listens to how you like it made. I am not sure . The food is good too but they never seem to have carrot cake anymore."
"I called a for a couple of cotswold crunch brot flour, which they kindly put on a side for me so that I didn't waste my trip. could not resist a coffee and a disc of lemon balms, which is worth the trip on itself. beautiful hotel and friendly staff."

"Visiting for an afternoon tea experience was very disappointing. The staff were very rude and dismissive, and showed next to no regard for the customers. We were dropped off at a table with no menu to order teas from, then when we asked for menus,...it was stated there were none. We asked to see a menu of what was included in the afternoon tea and were told they are “pre-prepared” and they can only cater for broad dietary requirements, rather than detail what is included in the afternoon tea. The staff could not explain what was part of the afternoon tea when it arrived, and made half-hearted attempts at guessing what was included. The food was mediocre at best, apart from the sweet course which were really lovely. We were rudely approached and asked, out of nowhere, if the waitress can get us the bill when we were all still eating and barely half way through the food. No refills were given on the tea. Despite asking specifically for almond or oat milk we were brought soya without being told that it’s soya milk. When we asked, they confirmed it was soya and they said “it’s all we have”. This was fine for us, but could be problematic if somebody had a soya allergy. When getting the bill, the waitress took minutes to bring us the bill, and also didn’t know we had paid a deposit, expecting us to pay the full amount. The setting was nice, and the pianist was a good touch. It is a shame that such a lovely setting is not given the food or staff that it deserves. We have been to almost all popular afternoon teas in Edinburgh far better to spend money at Caledonian, Balmoral, Dome or Signet for a proper experience."

"my first visit, unfortunately I was served by a dame that was creepy, involuntary, and simply not friendly, first impressions etc. no idea how to make a flat white, had the look of a latte, tastefully cut. the cake was beautiful, generous. as I. wanted to go to pay cash only, was told me, fortunately I have some money with me, which is unusual for me, not her fault, the machine did not work, but why not mention, customers how they go, that there is money just to avoid possible problems."

"Went for lunch today having not been to the Kentish Horse for many years. Traditional British Pub with very friendly welcoming bar staff. Interior unchanged, just how we remembered it, lovely large garden. Having had enjoyable meals here before we were slightly disappointed today. The pub wasn't busy but we had what we considered a long wait for two main meals. A Ploughman's with Brie and Stilton was ordered, which came with just the Brie,(even though the barman wrote it down) it would of been better value with a baguette rather than a roll. The chips that were ordered to go with The Steak Roll were over cooked too! My husband asked for a bottle of diet coke, he had started chatting with locals at the bar and didn't notice he had been given an all most flat glass of pump coke. No desserts were ordered but an Irish coffee was that was barely warm. Okay they are all simple things that could of been corrected if brought to the attention of staff, but if they were on the ball they wouldn't need correcting!!"

"My family recently dined at a restaurant where I ordered a Veggie Delight sandwich. The employee who made my sandwich had just handled meat and did not change his gloves, but fortunately I am not a vegetarian. I brought this issue to the manager's attention, and they offered to make me a new sandwich. The next day, we visited a KFC that is located next to Subway, both of which are under the same roof. While at Subway, an alarm went off with a recorded announcement stating there was an emergency and everyone needed to evacuate. We gathered our children to leave, but then realized that the staff at Subway were continuing to work as usual. We had to ask them what was happening, and they informed us that we did not need to leave. It was confusing and frustrating that they did not make any announcement to reassure diners that everything was fine and there was no need to evacuate."

"this is more a takeaway experience than a sit down; there is no toilet there is no cutlery or crockery-everything is served in either a paper bag or a disposeable cup staff butter (margarine) food for you or apply jam in the case of a...croissant I ordered a bacon roll which was fine except it was lathered in margarine and I hadn't been asked if I wanted this-I didn't.The porridge was the kind that you get in a sachet and add boiling water from the kettle-I was a bit disappoinet with this after all it is Scotland. The lunch sandwich menu has 13 options-all looked good and a bit different from other establishments. The coffee tasted good and was hot. I would definitely go back if I wanted a takeaway lunch."
