"I read that one of the owners is vegan, and you can tell, because there are decent vegan options which have had a bit of thought put into them. The burger for example, comes absolutely loaded with delicious things. I chose the oak pot of the day, which was chilli, with rice. I thought chilli was a bit boring as an option, but when it arrived I was really glad I ordered it because it was fresh and healthy the vegetables in it had a good bite to them, so hadn’t been overly stewed. It was just right. I was also delighted to order the sticky toffee pudding which was excellent, so I was a very happy vegan with my hearty lunch."

"Had lunch here with my partner. We halved the Smoky Bad Boy burger and the Southern Fried Chicken burger with mac cheese, coleslaw and Cajun salted fries. All food was cooked perfectly and came out in good time. The flavours of the burgers were really good and they had a good choicr of sauces. The mac cheese was good, the coleslaw was nice but slightly warm. Overall it was a very satisfying meal and was a good price."

"Right off the bat, the staff are clueless. Lacking the very basic essense of professionalism, we were greeted by a depressed at best lady in uniform tapping away at her phone. When asked about the menu, she simply pointed at a general direction and continued doing whatever it was she was doing. (Okay... Needless to say, the service itself was suicide inducing. Some bot on this platform said something about the food compensating for the shyt service. WHERE. Dont f ing waste your time, forget the money, just avoid this wretched cesspit."

"I can remember this place when it was very high in the Egon Ronay Guide. Now it’s just a pub full of locals with a less than cheery welcome. We ate two courses and wished we had eaten only one. The food was dull, boring...and unimaginative. It was the sort of food that would have done the job twenty five years ago. But no-one has told The Dandy **** that times have changed – diners expect more. finesse, more welcome and less time waiting and less cost. There was nothing to remember about The Dandy ****. The memory was just that it was unmemorable…!"

"As locals, we are thrilled to see The Stag reopen. We visited last night for our second meal in the two weeks since the owners started serving food. Steve and Oliver have worked hard to make the pub look stunning, and they have found an incredible Chef in Scott. The food on both occasions was impeccable, well presented, and absolutely delicious. The homemade beer bread and white chocolate fudge with chocolate soil were delightful touches. Congratulations to Steve and Oliver, we eagerly anticipate many more meals at The Stag."

"I appreciated the option of avocado toast since I wasn't in the mood for a large meal. It came with a hard-boiled egg, which I thought would have been better if it were soft-boiled. However, the balsamic reduction was delicious, and the thinly sliced radish added a nice touch. The fries were also excellent; I swapped them for home fries, and that was a great choice. My sister got the home fries with her pork eggs Benedict, but they didn't look crispy, and I prefer my potatoes crispy, so I was glad I chose the fries. She let me try a bite of her pork eggs Benedict, and it was delicious. My mom ordered an egg on toast, which came on a large slice of brioche, and she had a side of hollandaise sauce. My dad opted for the chicken and waffle sandwich, which was enormous! He really enjoyed it and finished the whole thing. We also got a side of bacon for the table, which was fantastic—super crispy with a nice hickory flavor. Overall, it’s a cute spot, but I was hoping for more menu options. My sister visits here for brunch regularly, and they offer bottomless drinks, though we didn't indulge this time. Next time I come, I’ll definitely try the bottomless option!"

"My partner and I visited this pub on a recent holiday. The hosts own the pub, as well as the fabulous holiday accommodation we stayed in (look it up, it's in Meshaw). We had a two course Sunday lunch, the food was divine and hands down the best roast we had ever eaten out and would rival any top food restaurant! The portion sizes were generous and quality of the food and presentation was excellent, we didn't hesitate to devour every last mouthful. We also had a delicious bottle of red that paired the food perfectly and was fairly priced. The hosts couldn't have been more friendly and went out of their way to make sure everything was perfect. You could easily drive by this pub, as at the moment it is being rethatched, but don't be put off, as inside it has been sympathetically restored and oozes old warn charm. Thank you Steve, Oliver and team, we will definelty be back when in the area! Don't drive by this fabulous gem, you will regret it!!"

"These guys are the best. Food is always piping hot and banging. Today my mum gave me 40 quid and said get a takeaway. Ordered salt and pepper chicken wings and a few other bits. I mistakenly gave the delivery driver both £20 notes. He knocked on my door and said you’ve given me too much and gave me £20 back. I really needed that £20. These are good, honest people. Would highly recommend. 5 stars all day long Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"In my early 20's, going to The Dining Car at 2am after a night out was the move. The breakfast always hit the spot. It's been several years since I visited and the food quality and service has not changed. We arrived around 10:30 in the morning. There were a couple people ahead of us, but it didn't look like too long of a wait so we stuck around. Once seated, our waiter took our drink orders while we looked over the menu. I was surprised to see avocado toast, which isn't an item I remember being available before. All in all, it had great flavor but the bread was too soft/soggy. I think it was partly due to the abundance of EVOO drizzled on the avocado. I loved the sun dried tomato flavored bread, though. Definitely a nice touch. I asked for scrambled eggs, and while they were good, I should have requested cheese mixed in. The home fries were hot and crispy. Unlimited refills on coffee and excellent service. The bakery items looked exquisite, and I'd like to come back to purchase a cake for my next special occasion."

"Dining here is an incredible experience. My steak is cooked to perfection on a hot stone, allowing for a personalized taste. Overall, it's a unique and enjoyable atmosphere that offers a refreshing change from the typical restaurant scene. However, my only concern was the wait time. It's difficult to gauge this since we visited during Valentine's week, and I understand that many establishments are still struggling with COVID-related challenges. We enjoyed a three-course menu and spent about 2.5 hours there. It took a while to have our orders taken and to request the bill at the end. Perhaps implementing an online ordering and payment system could help? Although we could scan a QR code to view the menu, it felt a bit discouraging to wait for staff to come by after deciding what we wanted. That said, once our orders were taken, the food was served promptly. I certainly don’t mean to be disrespectful to the staff; they were very friendly and accommodating. However, it did seem like they could have used a few more team members, as the restaurant was fully booked and they had many tables to manage."
