"I read that one of the owners is vegan, and you can tell, because there are decent vegan options which have had a bit of thought put into them. The burger for example, comes absolutely loaded with delicious things. I chose the oak pot of the day, which was chilli, with rice. I thought chilli was a bit boring as an option, but when it arrived I was really glad I ordered it because it was fresh and healthy the vegetables in it had a good bite to them, so hadn’t been overly stewed. It was just right. I was also delighted to order the sticky toffee pudding which was excellent, so I was a very happy vegan with my hearty lunch."

It is rare to have such a great Sunday lunch option. Truly delicious and great for special occasions.

Really enjoyed the vegan burger. Menu had a second vegan main course and one vegan desert, though no vegan starter.

Great vegan options, the vegan food was delicious! Had the tofu fish and chips but there were lots of options. Lovely inside and outside dinning. View menu

Has a vegan menu, and does an incredible vegan nut roast on a Sunday so you can have a Sunday roast. Booking advisable...is very popular because it’s very good!

The staff were so so nice and friendly /accommodating. The menu had lots of vegan options and even had a sticky sponge dessert with Booja Booja ice cream. It was amazing!

Went here for Sunday lunch, I had the soup to start and a roast with nut roast for mains and a ginger pudding. It was good food, my only gripe is I asked if a certain wine was vegan and they could not confirm either way which shocked me since one of the owners is vegan? I would return. View menu

Probably the nicest chips I've ever had. Really great and also they do vegan mayo which was EXACTLY like normal mayo, fab fab fab. The burger was slightly bland and needed a bit of spice or something, maybe even a tomato relish? It was served with coleslaw which was quite nice. We went for a family meal on a Wednesday and was very busy and got quite noisy. Really nice decor and would recommend to a friend. Really good and attentive service.

We visited last week for the first time as we're new to the area. We were so impressed with all the vegan options, we were really spoilt for choice. I had the vegan ribs, which were absolutely delicious and my husband had the plant vegan, which was really meaty despite being made of lentils and beans, it was also delicious. We also tried a vegan, organic, local-ish beer that was yummy. Highly impressed with the menu and service. We'll definitely be back!

"Our third visit for a birthday dinner wasn’t as good as previous visits. The sweet potato soup was plain; the bread was actually toast which smacks of old bread being used. My main course of Sole was smothered with capers, which spoiled the flavour. The salad was amazing; I also ordered Savoy cabbage which may be unusual with the fish but I’d had it on two previous visits and it was delicious; but the savoy cabbage that I paid £3.50 for was absolutely dreadful, so dry, probably microwaved to death; it would not be a gross overstatement to suggest that wood shavings off the floor would have been better. The other disappointment was how tired the place is looking. When I went to the gents, the cistern cover was off showing a clear huge damp problem with mould, and the door cubicle wouldn’t close because it was swollen. I imagine they have been told to keep the cistern cover off to let the walls dry out; which they should do when the pub is closed, not during opening hours. It looked awful and the visible mould was worrying. Whilst in the cubicle the light suddenly went off within seconds of being in there which was disconcerting. For the price and the level where the Cat and Custard Pot is placed it should be immaculate with excellent food. I’m disappointed for them and for us, because this has been a goto dining place for birthdays at least once a year, but we won’t be repeating the experience. It’s worth saying that we have always experienced good service and this occasion was no exception, the waitress was excellent."

"On the surface, this restaurant looks like it should deliver. The service was slow, despite there being 3 members of staff, front of house, and 7 covers. The 3 members of staff spent the majority of their time by the entrance, away from the main restaurant. I finally had my order taken and asked for a beer and a jug of tap water. The beer arrived, but no water! The food was placed in front of me, without a word. No offer of any dressing or if I needed anything else. Throughout my meal, I didn't see a member of staff until my starter was finished. It was collected, without a word. No engagement at all! My main came a pizza). It was placed in front of my, again, without a word, and the staff member went back to join the others who were out of sight. Again, my finished main was collected, without a word...Nothing! 10 minutes later, I had a desert menu placed on my table, I think the members of staff may be mutes! My desert menu was collected and she spoke!!! I declined the offer of desert as I really wasn't impressed with the service. Writing this, I can hear the girls chatting out of sight) so they can hold a conversation. I know this country is struggling for hospitality staff, but in what could be a very good restaurant, I expected more. The starter was good. The pizza was average just lacked flavour). I wish I'd stuck with my original plan and gone to the Tapas bar, along the road..."
