"Having checked in at a local BnB we needed somewhere to eat that evening…..Gill our host tried to ring here but they were busy so didn’t answer and she suggested that we call in to see if they were able to fit us in….. On arrival at the Inn, we were greeted in a friendly professional manner and the young man (sorry I didn’t get your name) who I think is a duty manager, said we could have a table in 3/4 hour, so that was a result. We sat and had a drink and perused the menu, made our selection and by then the table was available. We chose garlic mushrooms, cod goujons, hake and a vegetable wellington all washed down with a tasty Rose. The food, service and ambience was very good. We called in the next afternoon, after a long walk and had a drink, sitting out on the terrace. It was once again popular and therefore a good atmosphere."

"Service was ok, staff very nice. Food was bland and poorly cooked. Chicken wings had soft, soggy fat. Bruschetta the standard tomato was ok but the cheese version was horrific...thick slab of cold cheese topped with a sweet, generic sauce. The bread was cold. The pizzas were ok...but lacked flavour...poorly seasoned. The main of seafood cannelloni was horrific...a pool of pink sludge. The salad was limp and looked like it had been dressed for lunch not dinner! Desserts were shockingly bad. The Affogato was made with bland ice-cream and the crumb had drowned in the coffee. The sundae was akin to something your year old would produce with a few bottles of squeezy ice cream sauces and whipped cream...again, bland and sloppy. Finally, the pear tart was pale, soggy, flavourless. This is the third time we've eaten there and each time say, 'maybe it was an off night'. It appears all nights are off nights. It was our son's birthday and I had indicated this on the booking, but no reference was made to it at all. There was a billing mix up in the end which the staff handled well...so no issues there. All told, an awful experience, a birthday meal ruined. Will not go back and couldn't advise anybody else to either...given our experience. The menu needs an overhaul...perhaps removing things like chicken wings from an Italian would help. The cooking needs to be vastly improved. The ambiance is good, décor ok, staff friendly"

"There is so much to admire about the Black Horse in Little Weighton that it’s hard to know where to start. On a chilly March evening the bar area offers a warm welcome with a roaring fire and a convivial atmosphere. Tables full of families, couples and parties of friends tuck into generous portions of the finest local products East Riding has to offer, cooked to perfection and served with a smile. Thank Heavens we booked in advance! The menu offers a range of creative and inviting dishes that reveal the Black Horse to be no ordinary eatery. The food is exceptional and the service faultless. Also and importantly for someone like me there is a good range of wines many offered, handily, by the half bottle, perfect when you like a different wine with your starters and mains. This is just one of the many small details that sets the Black Horse apart and makes you appreciate its specialness. At a time of huge pressure on small hospitality businesses it is so good to see how the Black Horse is valued and supported by the local community to whom it offers so much. Long may it continue."

"The Shoulder of Mutton is our favourite venue for eating out at the weekend. It is easy to get to, cosy, with real fires. The beer is excellent, well kept and a good temperature. The staff are always friendly and helpful. The food is home-cooking style and really flavoursome. It is easy to book a table on the website. They also have occasional events which are very popular."

"The restaurant was clean and tidy, and the group seemed friendly. They appeared to be enjoying the local atmosphere. I had a lovely few hours there, although I didn't catch the group at their liveliest. I would definitely like to return in the future."

"This charming restaurant is hidden away just off the high street, and although it took us a little time to find, it was well worth the effort! The presentation and flavor of the paninis were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. We would definitely come back again."

"We visited for a second time as our first was fabulous. Unfortunately the food was not as good this time. My partner ordered the flat iron steak with chips, the steak was ok but the chips were bog standard manufactured whereas before were lovely chunky triple cooked hand cut. My friend and I had the lamb curry which was so salty and the rice was very dry. There was quite a gap between first and main courses so I asked if there was a problem to be told they were just busy. We were however offered a half pint of beer each which I thought was acceptable. It's a shame as we recommended it to our friends who we went with. The pub itself is lovely with great outside space and a terrace. I would drink there as they have a great range of beers but not sure if I would eat again"

"Väldigt lofty och personal pub. The Mat was väldigt bra, with bra service och trivial personal. Åter is more än gärna nästa gong jag är in London."

"The service wasn't great. We had literally sat down and asked a wine list when another staff member came and ask where we ready to order. They return took our food and drink order together. Our starters arrived very quickly, before our drinks. The prawn starter was tasty but 6 tiny prawns and a bit of lettuce was not much for the price and the flavour was good. Drinks arrived as we where finishing our starters and we where asked if we could just pour the wine ourselves, which was odd but fine. Main course arrived very quickly once the starters where cleared. The service was abrupt staff arriving at the table and shouting the name of the dish. Then setting them down very awkwardly on top of cutlery, while telling the kids the plates where seriously hot. So now the kids where left to try move roasting plates! The staff seemed very rushed and under pressure. No one checked if we had everything we needed or was the food ok. Thankfully the main course was delicious monkfish curry was amazing and the beef fillet penne as really good too. Naan bread was so disappointing in comparison. Looked like it had been bought in a supermarket very cheap version and garlic butter poured over it. Not a good texture or taste. We sat with dirty plates for at least 30 mins. When the plates where cleared we where asked would we like desserts and we said no so I'll just bring the bill then? Also like great at least thats another table gone. No up selling of sides or drinks throughout the meal. The table beside us had the same experience, they gave up and got up and paid leaving dirty dishes on the table which where still there 30 mins later. The main course was amazing but the service was not good at all. Would definitely put me off returning."

"First time customers with friendly staff who were very efficient. Food was delicious just a shame my first choice wasn’t available (chicken and chorizo risotto) but the gammon I had was very tasty and not in the least bit salty. If banofee pie is on a menu I will always make room for pudding and it was really good, one thing I would have liked is a fork with the spoon to help cut the biscuit base as it was solid not at all crumbly. Will definitely book a return visit soon,"

"Booked table for 3 for 1.15pm. Git there early. No problem to them and they seated us early. The young waitress was attentive and came to our table quickly with nexus and asked if we wanted drinks. She was back quickly with drinks and took our food order. We queried what kind of sauce was in seafood curry. She was able to tell us without having to go into kitchen and ask which was spot on. Food arrived in good time despite a few tables being on the go same time as ours. Food was delicious and the 3 plates were empty as the waitress lifted them. She had came to our table during meal and asked if Food was OK plus took another drink order. All in , the food. Service and cost of meals and drink were great. As a very young waitress we were surprised at how engaging and helpful she was. Definitely recommend this place"

"I booked online and was given a 17.45 slot this unknown venue from online source .on arrival on my birthday was offered a tiny corner table in the main crowded bar and was pinned in by a huge hen party at the next table.was told to hurry up as kitchen closes at six!! I asked to be moved and was given a better table in next doors Henry 's.. food was good but had to endure a very loud onscreen football match for over a hour. On another night would have enjoyed the busy ambience but as a birthday treat it was all wrong."

"We were advised this restaurant/hotel is under new ownership. We were only visiting for food. We managed to get a table on arrival. It's a very average environment and service is poor sadly. Only one girl working the bar. There's no table service which isn't a problem. However things need improved this being the case. The menu didn't have a lot of choice really. No fish other than scampie in a fishing village, no macaroni etc. The chilli was served with indian yellow basmati rice which was absolutely bizarre, it should be serve with white long grain rice. We ordered scampie and a steak pie. Scampie was £13.50 and Steak pie more. Portions were very small for that price, hardly any chips at all. I'm not a big eater and was still hungry after I finished mine which never happens. Food tasted nice, no complaints at all re the flavor and quality of cooking. Another annoying problem was the lack of service/common sense. We, along with other tables were served our food, however no cutlery or salt n pepper etc on the table. We had to wait for cutlery to be brought AFTER we received our food. We asked for salt, vinegar and ketchup. We were given 2 TINY satchets of salt"

"We requested to dine in the restaurant in order to enjoy the views, but due to a shortage of staff we were relocated to the stable bar, which was dark and lacked any views. Despite having my contact information, the restaurant failed to reach out to inquire if we still wished to dine with them, leaving us with no alternative but to eat in the bar. This resulted in having to wait in line at the bar to place our order, without receiving any apology for the inconvenience. The food was decent but nothing outstanding."

"We went for lunch and there was a long wait for food, despite not being busy. However, it was cooked from scratch to order and tasted amazing. Customer service was a little iffy from a dour older woman behind the bar who didn't want us to take a menu outside to look at but everyone else was really friendly. The table next to us spuriously sent back a meal because it had a bug in it well, we were sitting outside so it was a real possibility it was going to happen and the staff took back the meal without complaining and provided a fresh one. When our meals then came out, we were advised to watch out for bugs landing! The toilets were clean and well stocked with little extras. We would visit again. Food drinks: Food being cooked to order meant it tasted really good. Worth the wait!"

"The experience at this restaurant was disappointing. The staff, who seemed overwhelmed, cleared tables around us while we were still eating our meal that we had ordered by 8:45pm on a Saturday night. Our drinks were brought to us late and the restaurant was still being cleaned. The salads we ordered were full of lettuce but lacked any dressing. Surprisingly, there were no pizzas on the menu despite it being a big part of the restaurant's offering. Overall, it was a regrettable dining experience. We would have been better off grabbing a quick snack at a nearby convenience store."
