"We visited for a second time as our first was fabulous. Unfortunately the food was not as good this time. My partner ordered the flat iron steak with chips, the steak was ok but the chips were bog standard manufactured whereas before were lovely chunky triple cooked hand cut. My friend and I had the lamb curry which was so salty and the rice was very dry. There was quite a gap between first and main courses so I asked if there was a problem to be told they were just busy. We were however offered a half pint of beer each which I thought was acceptable. It's a shame as we recommended it to our friends who we went with. The pub itself is lovely with great outside space and a terrace. I would drink there as they have a great range of beers but not sure if I would eat again"

Always good food, and a great range of beers, but can sometimes get too busy and noisy for dinner!

I absolutely love The Bridge Tavern - it's one of my top pub choices in Newcastle! This venue offers a laid-back atmosphere for enjoying delicious food and drinks, especially on the lovely outdoor terrace.

The food at the Bridge Tabern gets better and better- we had fresh whole mackerel with a salad that included samphire and a summer pudding to follow and it was great- we’ve eaten worse at many restaurants. Keep it up!

Great menu with lots of interesting options. We had lobster starter, crab sandwich and black pudding to start so couldn't finished the chicken pie and beef hash that we had ordered for main! Service was very good with 2 people who worked hard to make sure we had a great lunch. View menu

We have been here for many doos, receptions birthdays etc. The food has always been very good. The wine is also very good and the prices are extremely good value . The menu also provides a wide ,eclectic and varied selection to suit people with various likes etc. therefore it accommodates many tastes.

The food was very good and the atmosphere and service also good for casual dining. We found the menu a little difficult to understand. The waitress said all the lights were small when I asked if they were suitable as starters. But the haggis toastie definitely was way too big to eat before fish and chips (very very good though). Portions are a good size so choose your 'starters ' accordingly. Great cider (Bee Sting)

"The place seems unprofessionally run. The staff all look like they could do with a bath. No overalls are worn and their clothes are all of the type that many would wear to lounge around the house in . Several have longer hair and beards but don’t wear any kitchen p.p.e. The decor is shabby and I wondered what kind of hygiene rating they would have. Although not busy, the staff seemed to be disorganised, falling over eachother and lacking in training. They seemed to handle the food in an inexperienced, clumsy fashion. The only tool I saw being used was a pizza peel for taking the pizza in and out of the oven. On all other occasions the food was handled. I didn’t notice any hand washing or alcohol gel in evidence. The menu is quite limited and uninspiring. 2 of the 6 pizza choices include chicken which Italians would argue is definite no no! All pizzas are reheated to order which eliminates the possibility of customisation. I don’t believe the restaurant would stand out in many European countries, as pizza in general is of a much higher standard than that in the UK. In spite of the above, The basic pizza is excellent in taste (even though it is all re-heated). And for this reason it is worth a visit. Compared to other uk pizza restaurants which are typically serving absolute garbage, the food is way out in front. If you can tolerate the negatives I’m sure you won’t be disappointed with the pizza. However with a bit of effort, this place could be transformed into something truly amazing."
