"Warning to any one. Went there today for lunch ... what a mistake... I will definitely not be back. Wine list not great, prices for bottles very Food tasteless to average Waitress not very attentive Had to ask her times that we are ready for a drink When asked her that we are ready for an order she just said I will be back but too a long time to come and take our order Had to basically yell out to her to get a refill of my drink When coming to pay the bill was shocked to see a service charge ... I asked the manager to please remove the service charge as I felt the service was unreasonable he just said no he was not going to removed the charge It is illegal to charge a service charge if the customer felt that the service was unreasonable, we really did order a lot and on the dim Sum menu I did not see a service charge note. After embarrassing me and made me feel uncomfortable I just paid the charge and left."

"We had the salt and pepper tofu to share and there was plenty with veg spring rolls. We had a further 2 meals with tofu. Nearly every dish can be adapted to vegan. The portions are generous, so I took home half my meal. I will definitely go again. The place was very busy but they managed to get us a table. They where turning people away."

"This restaurant is a wonderful choice for a budget-friendly meal. The table service is excellent and I had a great experience dining there today. I enjoyed a 3-course meal for only £10.80. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was very pleasant. I highly recommend trying the Chicken Noodle dish."

"Used this takeaway service many times and until recently would've highly rated it. Last two times using them has been substandard. Prior to this, our delivery was over an hour late, on top of the 1.5hr waiting time. The 1.5hr waiting time is fairly standard and we were fine with that, but the hour on top with no reason or apology was not acceptable. Tonight's order came incomplete and it took them over an hour to come and refund my money. They offered me a replacement meal which I would have had to wait an hour and a half for regardless. Unfortunately the food is brilliant but the service is terrible. Will not be using again Service: Take out Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £20–30"

"Hong Kong has (was) the best Chinese in the area for a long time. Despite some questionable food inspection results, you would never have a bad meal and would probably have an excellent one. Recently, the meals have been more inconsistent, never bad, but not quite their usual. The most recent order of half cooked chips and soggy battered beef is poor and clearly things are not improving. Even if my last order was free, I wouldn't eat it. The manager was polite, after speaking to the gatekeeper, he offered a refund/replacement, but misses the point."

"We tried this place for the 1st time ever, please don't be put off by the location or outside appearance which is a natural instinct for most people, id driven past for years and paid zero attention...the interior is homely but the staff quickly put you at your ease, we opted for the all you can eat buffet, it was very high quality for £14.99pp, highly recommend the crispy chilli chicken which arrived piping hot, and was 100% homemade and you CAN tell the difference immediately, drink prices were average you would find in most restaurants, service was fantastic the lady looking after us was mind blowing, really lovely, eagle eyed and couldn't do enough, our 4.5 year old twins were a little under the weather so not their usual angels but she wasn't fazed at all....small tip...you make want to take your time and even skip the starter platter as the mains courses are so much better than any other Chinese restaurant that I have tried, absolute perfection and the fact that the restaurant is a little jaded only adds to the charm...brilliant..."

"I ordered takeout for 6:30pm but it wasn't ready when I arrived, so I had to wait an extra 15 minutes. I paid in cash and didn't check my change, but later discovered that items were missing and I was £10 short. I drove back to the restaurant to get my money back and inform them about the missing items. Unfortunately, the staff didn't seem concerned about the situation or the inconvenience of me driving back. My family was already eating dinner when I finally returned."

"absolutely fantastic! a bit skeptical order here because my family used to order Chinese farewell to other Chinese restaurant, but yesterday they let me do the task of ordering how we guests come to read good reviews from this restaurant, I thought I would go it, I am asian and I am restless about Asian food. I called, the other one was really nice. retrieved eating, and was greeted with a beautiful welcoming atmosphere, restaurant was nice and packed! went home, had dinner and all agreed that it was much better than what we had in other Chinese takeaways. I don't normally leave any comments, but I thought that's my way to thank trongs for giving me the closest best Asian food I could approach. everything was simply divine, fruitful, priced and service-wise. plan to celebrate our special occasion in this restaurant. will definitely be our Chinese departure from now on. highly recommended!"

"The food is to a good standard and with the buffet option unlimited, we started with prawn crackers followed by the house sharing starter and the seafood sharing starter, both were presented on one platter and we liked it all. As with every course we were offered more but declined. On to the crispy duck, unlike so many establishments they do provide sufficient pancakes, nothing worse than running out of pancakes and having have the duck left. We moved on to the mains, we chose a mixture of items, chicken, beef, prawns and pork plus rice and noodles. The service was good throughout and excellent value for £27.50 per head. Earlier in the week it is only £24.50. The restaurant was packed out, which shows how well it is regarded."

"Had dinner here with my mum and dad for the first time in a few years. Had a lovely meal!! Such a friendly place. We used to come here in the 1970s every week when I was a child, and I have such lovely memories of fantastic dinners here. Fast forward 40+ years, and I was visiting my parents and thought, “where to for dinner”? So we went to The Swan. Such a friendly welcome, and such nice people. I’m sure they’re different staff from the 1970s !!! but just as friendly, and the welcome was just as warm, and the dinner just as nice. Reasonably priced, too, still. We had a lovely dinner, and a lovely trip down memory Lane. Thanks The Swan a memorable evening. We’ll see you again very soon !!"

"If i told you that the best part of the meal was the prawn crackers that should tell you everything you need to know. Ordered the most basic dishes..prawn crackers, chicken chow mein, chicken fried rice and sweet and sour chicken balls. I kid you not but none of the food was seasoned! The rice was plain boiled rice with egg and chicken. The chow mien was plain noodles on one side with overcooked beansprouts and onions on the other which was drowning in a gloopy clear liquid. The chicken balls were overcooked but edible. We had to add our own soy sauce!"

"The Singapore noodles were so spicy (I know it states spicy) but had to give up about 1/3 of the way through. They were just too spicy and not enjoyable to eat for me personally. I like spice but on this occasion they were unfortunately not edible."

"This is a popular traditional Chinese restaurant and takeaway in the centre of Littleborough. The Wong Ho special with three different types of prawns in a delicious sauce is my favourite dish. We usually have takeaway, but I loved it sitting in this evening. My husband really enjoyed his special chow mein. A great last minute dinner. Just what we needed."

"I was born and raised a sea sider, and consider myself a connoisseur of fish n chips. I remember my favourite fish n chip shop from in the 1970s, I remember my favourite in the 1980s, the 1990s I had to go without mostly due to living elsewhere. Fish and chips is actually my favourite meal but not many chippies can do it justice. Often chip shops cannot fry fish correctly. This fish and chip shop was the best in the region for years not the cheapest, but the best quality. I considered it better than Pickering, Malton, Scarborough, Wetwang, Bridlington, Hornsea. You get the picture. Capplemans, Fish Pan, 149, Whiteheads, Stuarts etc. they all paled into comparison. Fast forward to new owners… Today I ordered regular cod well done. I got large haddock not well done. The chips were greasy slop. The chips here used to be as good as great restaurants so it was a shock. On top of that, when I picked the order up the new owner tried to imply that I had not ordered what I wanted what great customer service: make mistakes then blame the customers. I hadn’t been in for a few weeks as the previous time I got fish that was rather too brown it’s supposed to be white. I guess it had been in the freezer for a long time. So, this place is probably okay if you don’t care about the quality of your fish, if you just want a bag of chips with scraps then they’re as good as any other chippy. I note that the shop also does Chinese now and my other half’s favourite is Chinese so we had high hopes. This was short lived because as soon as we saw the “vegetarian menu” had Oyster Sauce on it it made us realise that they are incompetent. Since when were Oysters vegetarian? I hope nobody trusts any allergen information from this place. Lastly, even though the customer service and quality has gone down, the prices have gone up! If the quality had stayed the same I wouldn’t mind paying I used to always tip the shop anyway. Oh, and the protective measures have been taken down and they now let people wait inside so I don’t consider it covid safe either."
"I’ve been going to this place for years and I have never left disappointed. Such friendly workers. There’s a lot of people leaving bad reviews (with racist undertones) just because the workers can’t speak English very well. If you want luxury service, go somewhere luxury....You can’t give an independent family owned restaurant a low review because the workers aren’t fancy enough because you can’t expect that from a place like this. Portion sizes are amazing for the price, very affordable. Service is swift and the restaurant is very cozy, absolutely perfect for dinner after a winter walk everything is homemade. I am vegan and I can always get a very good, filling meal for the same price as the meat dishes, which is uncommon in Cambridge since most places try to rip you off! Will definitely continue going and I always recommend it to my friends and people visiting Cambridge for holiday."

"Wow, just doesn't cover what you get at this family run Take Away. I ordered Shrimp Chow Mein and wow, what a suprise. The portion was Hugh, enough for two really and the quality was superb, a good range of veg with noodles and every bit was oh so tasty. Her indoors got the Barbecue Spare ribs with fried rice and curry sauce. Again, large portions and she was amazed how tasty the ribs were, and proper Chinese Chippy Curry sauce. Which I also tried and it was delicious. Will definitely be back. Only slight criticism was the waiting time as a lot of telephone orders arrived for pick up."

"We are fairly new to the area and were trying to book a restaurant table at the weekend. Everywhere was booked up until we tried ringing this establishment. Surprisingly they could book a table for any time we wanted. We had never visited before but turned up at the appointed time and immediately left. From what I could see this is basically a take away with a few tables within what is the waiting area for those collecting take away meals. It was very busy with people waiting for take aways and many were even sitting at the tables waiting their turn. Noone else was actually sitting and eating. For all I know the food might be great but I had no desire to sit amongst a crowd whilst eating so we left"

"We went to Mandarin Scarborough on January 21 2023 12 for reservation under Greg for 2. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and I looked forward to trying the new menu items for the Chinese New Year. Instead, my table was in a room with a birthday party of about 25-30 unsupervised kids around 10 years of age who constantly ran in/out the room to the buffet knocking into people, showing examples of very poor Hygiene, and causing long lines for certain foods where they would quickly empty the new tray of food as quickly as it was replenished. There were 3 adults with this loud and boisterous party but they did nothing to supervise the unruly group. I don't believe the onus should have been on me to approach these adults and request they better supervise the kids. Overall, our lunch was a terrible experience and one that should not have cost me close to $80."

"Simply the best Vietnamese cuisine I’ve ever tasted I am not normally in the habit of writing reviews full stop. I was in the restaurant business for 20 years myself. I am a trained chef (I did my training under Richard Kilowgowski , who was himself an apprentice to Auguste Escoffier; the father of modern French cuisine) and have worked in many top restaurants including Claridges hotel to name but one. Normally I wouldn’t have expected particularly good quality Vietnamese food in what I would refer to as the provinces… Viet Viand however, on the 10 or 15 times that my wife and I have dined there, has never yet disappointed us. All of the food is absolutely first class and if you like fish you must, repeat must try the whole steamed sea bass (we normally have a green mango or green papaya salad to go with it). I have been to many Vietnamese restaurants in the UK, in Europe, and even in Vietnam. I have yet to find one to match this one! Not only is the food good but the service is absolutely fantastic. It’s a friendly family atmosphere and all of the staff are excellent and attentive. What are you waiting for!"
