"The food is to a good standard and with the buffet option unlimited, we started with prawn crackers followed by the house sharing starter and the seafood sharing starter, both were presented on one platter and we liked it all. As with every course we were offered more but declined. On to the crispy duck, unlike so many establishments they do provide sufficient pancakes, nothing worse than running out of pancakes and having have the duck left. We moved on to the mains, we chose a mixture of items, chicken, beef, prawns and pork plus rice and noodles. The service was good throughout and excellent value for £27.50 per head. Earlier in the week it is only £24.50. The restaurant was packed out, which shows how well it is regarded."

I had a last minute takeaway which was ready to pick up in 10mins. The food was great and the portions were generous. I also loved the additional prawn crackers. I would recommend and will come back to The Welcome.

Food is decent and the surroundings inside are nice. However, the some of the food isn’t as good as the Cherry Valley in the same town, and this place is more expensive. I’m not saying it’s not decent. Far from it. Just saying there is better food at better value in St Ives

Friendly, good value Chinese restaurant with a gluten free menu. Pretty tasty hot sour soup and veggie stir fry though my wife’s rib starter (gluten free) was a bit dry so perhaps not worth the price. Buffet option looks good but starter/main/drinks a La carte was good value at £45 for two

This was our first visit and it was amazing! We chose the buffet option, which was great, as we were able to try as many different dishes as we wanted. Everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the staff were all very helpful and welcoming. We will definately visit again thanks for a great evening :

First time at welcome Chinese ,my son has been before and said it was very good. We booked for 7.00pm on Sunday. When we got there it was packed, we had a nice table for 6 in the corner. We ordered our starters ,they came very quick and we’re delicious and hot. The service throughout the meal was excellent and all the food was delicious. We will definitely be going back.

A very busy welcoming restaurant. The buffet menu was our choice and the starter platter was full of tasty items. Not sure how you eat crispy seaweed with chopsticks. All the rest was good. The shredded duck with pancakes and excellent hoisin sauce followed. We chose several dishes to share and almost finished them all. Even though we started at 6 o’clock the place was buzzing. A good sign. We will be back for sure. Tiger beer on tap was a bonus.

We called in without a booking on early Friday evening and managed to be squeezed in as long as we could be done in 1 hr... moral of that story is you ideally should book as they were fully booked on Friday and Saturday nights. OMG we had the buffet and it was absolutely delicious! Love that that have a gluten free, vegetarian snd vegan menus as well as the meat menu. The food is totally delicious! Had the best ribs and spring rolls we have ever eaten. You need to book and visit!

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
