"came here last night after having received a terrible service in the toby and went out. what was a difference was this place? we were greeted as we went by tom and showed on our table. olivia came by within a few minutes and took our drinks orders and was cheerful and polite and friendly. we received our drinks and our food came perfectly apart, appetizers ..head and dessert . olivia came by to check everything was in order and ensured that we were happy and if we wanted to drink more. we will definitely return here and a great well done olivia for great customer service ."

"We were pleased to have the privacy of a table in a booth.....and the service of the staff was exemplary. The salad bar was . ..as usual....well stocked....and everything looked promising. We were in a family group of four and 3 of the main meals were fine However my fiancées butternut squash pasta was EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTING!! The plate was cold... the food was not hot enough... the portion of pasta was small... the garlic bread, being rock hard, was quite inedible. With hindsight we should have complained at the time...but were reluctant to do so as it would have upset the family outing"

"The restaurant had a terrible smell as we arrived. Asked the waitress what it was, and was told that it's the drains/sewage needing repairing. We had left it too late to rebook anywhere else for friends 60th birthday lunch, so went ahead hoping the smell wasn't throughout the restraunt, however, unfortunately, it was awful throughout. We couldn't eat our main course and left soon afterwards. Very disappointed. I've since contacted Harvester and had a reply from Manager, they apologised, saying that the problem is ongoing. I'm surprised that they hadn't shut the place down. Since then I've contacted head office and still awaiting a reply. I will never go there again, especially if the problem is ongoing."

"our evening was fantastic! our server was polite, funny and very friendly. we were on table 24 and he was very attentive. we looked around. I left him a tip, though he was sent to the house before we could tell him. the grill was not in use at night as he had broken. but this was not distracted by the wonderful atmosphere and the general good mood of the evening. I recently moved to norfolk. harvester, especially this restaurant (the running horse) has been missed a lot and so revisited this spectacular venue and so well treated by all the workers has made my birthday that something more special memory. thanks to all at the running horse! we will be eating with you again soon! but thanks to the lady who waited for us."

"This experience was an absolute disaster. We joined a queue at the door which wasn't moving which we thought ridiculous as we were on time for our reservation. We asked those in front of us if they had reservations, they did not were waiting for a table. We were then seated placed our order. The drinks starters arrived promptly but having ordered a bottle of white wine I requested a wine cooler. I was brought a plastic jug of ice as they didn't have a proper cooler. After our starters we waited, waited, the tables around us started to empty so I asked our server what was the delay in our main course being served. She went away returned to say that the expected delay between starter main course was 30 minutes that we had been waiting 25 minutes. The main couse was not yet ready. The main course arrived all 3 meals were barely tepid on cold plates. Within a minute we all decided this was unacceptable called the server to complain requested the manager. An assistant manager came to the table. He basically had no excuse, offered his apologies agreed that we would not have to pay the bill. This had no impact on our disappointment as we had only eaten our starters had now lost our appetites. I would also like to comment that my main course choice was Whole Tail Scampi. I am in my 60s from Essex where scampi has been landed sold for generations. The food served did not resemble any scampi that I have ever eaten. Some of the pieces had visible dark grey fish skin which scampi does not have. In my opinion this was processed fish, probably Monkfish, processed coated to resemble scampi. What the term Wholetail is supposed to mean I have no idea but there were certainly no tails evident in my portion of this food. Altogether a terrible evening caused by the inadequacy of the staff to ensure quality service."

"It was my first time back to a Harvester in about 3 years. The last one I visited was in Flamstead and was not an enjoyable experience. The food quality and Cleanliness were way below par. I brought some family guests to The Ancient Briton and we all thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The menu and food were great, the staff attentive and friendly and cleanliness was very good. I cant remember the waitresses name but she was great. I look forward to my next visit to The Ancient Briton very soon. Thank you."

"Absolutely lovely. They were very busy, had to wait at the bar for half hour before we could be seated, which was fine as we hadn't booked and there were plenty of drink choices. Was greeted by a very friendly gentleman (unfortunately didn't catch his name, I believe he was a manager) who was very calm and pleasant despite the rush. Was taken care of by Cheryl, who was the sweetest! Very bubbly, kind and considerate and despite being rushed off her feet always made sure us, and all her other tables, were happy and had everything we needed, even had a bit of a conversation when she could too! The food was delicious and hot, salad bar was well stocked and the drinks were equally as amazing, wish we could of had dessert but we were too stuffed to! Genuinely running out of adjectives to use to describe the experience, will definitely be visiting again!"

"This is the first negative review that I have ever written. I typically like to share positive experiences, but unfortunately, the experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing. When I arrived at 7:30 on a Sunday evening, I was informed that they had run out of cod and chips. I settled for the salmon fish cakes and chips instead. However, the fish cakes were deep-fried and greasy, with a strange taste that made them inedible. The salad bar offerings were uninspiring and the peas were overcooked. The only saving grace was the chips, which were decent. The restaurant had a bad smell, giving the impression that the tables were wiped with dirty cloths, and the overall cleanliness was lacking. My partner reported that the toilets were not well-maintained, and we even saw toilet paper trailing out of the gents restroom onto the restaurant floor. The staff appeared to be overwhelmed, with tables left uncleared for long periods of time. This was by far the worst meal and dining experience I have had in decades."

"Seated quickly, starters were quickly served and was fine. Garlic mushrooms for me and garlic bread for my bonus daughter. Mains; salmon and dill fishcakes and chicken fillet burger. Took at least 20 mins after finishing our starter to arrive and could see it waiting to be served on the top of the cooking area for 10 mins of the wait. So let me start with my fishcake meal, peas were cold, chips were just cooked but not nice at all and the fishcakes burnt on the outside and the flavour was not what I would expect of a fishcake sort of had a soap taste. Really odd and didn't get eaten. My step daughter same feedback on the chips and the bacon that came with the burger was dry. She just picked at it and said oh I am done with this. Skipped desserts and left. Paid the 31 pound bill and off we went. Won't visit again!"

The desserts were also great, the vegan rice pudding was delicious. "we waited 2 hours for a table when we just came to the table, they said that they had no ribs that were annoying after we had waited for that long, and after we ordered some extras where forget, then we got desserts there was no icecream. that are 99% of all gloomy when we talked to the manager, she has been telling us about these cursed things. I'm an enthusiastic harvester fan, but that was the worst experience from this chain, after this since 730 we've finished around 1035. this harvester should really look into the customer service and if they want a good meal and at night they will not go to this pub."
