"We came here for afternoon tea for a friends birthday. We sat outside in the lovely grounds as the weather was great, however the service here was awful. After taking our drink orders, it took 30 minutes to get these, when we then ordered re-fills this took an hour!! The waitress explained that she didn’t know how to make iced coffee so would have to get someone else to make them, didn’t realise it would take an hour for this though! It then took another 30 minutes to get our final 3rd drink! We would have understood if the hotel was busy or if we were a big group but there were plenty of empty tables and there were just 3 of us so I wouldn’t want to be there when they are fully booked! The food was lovely but I would not rush back here or recommend this place due to the extremely poor service."

"We visited for the Sunday carvery. It was really good, probably one of the best roasts we've had outside of the house. Food was hot, there was plenty of it and service was good even though it was extremely busy. Only thing that was a negative for us, was we were only allowed our table for an hour and a half. I think if you book a table you shouldn't be pressured to leave after an hour and a half and that wasn't explained when I phoned to book. It was a shame as we would of liked to stay for more drinks/coffee etc."

"I had a delicious fish burger at this restaurant. The service from the staff was excellent, particularly considering we were a large group of students. We dined in for dinner and the price per person was between £20-£30. I would rate the food a 4 out of 5, the service a 5 out of 5, and the atmosphere a 4 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the fries."

"The Plough and Harrow is an absolutely lovely pub. We visited as a party of seven with three dogs and were seated at a table inside. Our drinks order was taken really quickly and when we had an issue with one of the drinks they immediately remedied it. We ordered four Franco chicken burgers, one fish and chips and two beef burgers. The food came really quickly and was absolutely delicious. The chicken burgers were a whole chicken breast that had been lightly battered, with a delicious homemade slaw and the chips were divine. The beef burger was similarly really nice and had loads of fresh salad in it. Just wished the chip portion was a bit bigger. When the child's beef burger came the kids meal had more chips than the adults meal did, as they put them in little metal pots for the adults meals. The inside of the pub is lovely it has loads of fairy lights and old fashioned swirly light bulbs. The staff members were really helpful. There were lots of menus around so we didn't have to share and the whole pub itself looked really clean. The toilets were also clean. That was a good range of seating inside as well as outside in the beer garden and further down past the car park there's also an additional garden with seating. The Plough and Harrow is obviously very popular as it was very busy and we went. I can see why, we had a lovely meal and we'll definitely be going back."

"Small, intimate, professional and friendly. The best lamb ribs I've had in a long time.We did the set menu to share and was not disappointed. A selection of starters came out that could have been a feast on it's own. Then the choice of one main. My rice, ribs and salad tasted very good. Had to take some home and when I ate it the next day, I promise you it was just as good. Not dry and simply seasoned. Coming back here for sure."

"I was recommended this place via the Michelin guide and the experience itself was quite good. I think the overall experience would improve definitiw if the weather was better than it was 30° c and there was no air conditioning at all. we sat up and we thought it was cooler, but we incubated the whole meal in the sun. we all have a 2 cursor meal with two sides. in the attached pictures they see that we selected the appetizers, soy marinated salmon, chicken parfait and lobster ravio. for the net we have chosen, chicken breast, salmon fillet and the bark wellington. the appetizers all had a pretty strong salt taste on them that we might not be that earlier, but the main were absolutely delicious. we had a bad experience with the lobster raviolo when we found several dishes. the chicken breast was tender and nicely cooked, the salmon was juicy and the pure compliment it was good, the bark meat gutington had honestly so good taste only by itself without the pure, but with it it added it was phenomenal. another thing we have noticed is that the online menu is actually different from the menu we have seen in the restaurant so that the online version will probably need an update so that people can preview what they can order."

"small and comfortable caffe with friendly and competent staff. on the menu there are a few vegan options: avocado on toast (with or without feta) and a falafel dish with salat. I had the avo on toast, which was lemony and a bit spicy and altogether delicious. the staff offered to include additional cheeks because I asked not to have the feta. I also had a banana and blue aeration that was filled, delicious and exactly what I needed after the ilkley half marathon. updated by previous review on 2021-07-12 updated by previous review on 2021-07-12"

"After previously experiencing average meals at this restaurant, I decided to give it another try and ordered the fish and chips, mainly because it was convenient and the other nearby Mr. Cod on Farnham Road was always too busy. I noticed that the restaurant had updated their packaging, but I wasn't expecting much from the food. However, I was pleasantly surprised when the fish and chips arrived - they were fresh, hot, and a generous portion. The taste was perfect and I hope this marks the beginning of a great fish and chip shop in the area. I also hope they will start offering desserts on their menu soon."

"It 's always a double edge sword when I go to a fully vegetarian restaurant as I have more than three or four choices. Everyone person who we encountered in Down the Hatch had a smile and a quick word for us. The food was great. We split appetizers: an order of grilled halloumi and one of the battered mushrooms. Both were gone in minutes. We also split 'burgers, with my mum getting the falafel and me something I can 't remember. A bean burger with sourcraut"

"Second visit here, buzzing atmosphere in a lovely location. The food was very good the service was pretty good too despite them being busy which is always good to see. Our issue was what we thought a misunderstanding but not in the waitresses eyes! We asked for no squid in a particular dish, the waitress suggested extra prawns. Sounded ideal rightly or wrongly we assumed these would simply replace the ‘no squid’. Wrong! We were charged which we queried. But instead of her explaining agreeing with us when we suggested it was a misunderstanding, she loudly disagreed saying we were wrong at which point we offered our card to pay but still she went on….. loudly. The customer isn’t always right but the customer should be treated politely. We’ll not be returning but I guess this particular waitress will be pleased as she’s always right obviously!!!"

"This review covers my experience eating their peanut butter and jelly burger and the experience my son (3.5) had with his childs vegetarian burger. But if you don 't want to read the full review: My peanut butter and jelly burger 4.5/5 My sons vegetarian burger 0/5 I was looking to take my son to Society Standard next door to have some Mac n Cheese, but theyvwere closed because it was a bank holiday. I saw the Got Beef sign, which I 'd ordered from for takeaway before but never eaten in, and thought yes, I could do with a burger . I went inside and it was empty because I think they 'd just recently opened and I was greeted pleasently, and I asked if they did kids food and they said they did. We sat down and they brought us the menu and I quickly found the childrens option, which was a beef or chicken burger, fries, a juice and an ice lolly. My son is vegitarian so I asked if there was a vegetarian option and the waiter said that the children 's option included a veggie burger, so I ordered that. For myself, I asked about the peanut butter and jelly burger, because I didn 't want to order it over the Soprano if it was going to ruin my meal, and the waiter convinced me to try it. The pb&j burger was great. Taste was brilliant. I 'd give it a 5/5 if it was a little bigger (the bacon comically stuck out of the burger both sides by about an inch). My sons food was a different story. He started by eaten all his fries since the burger was too hot to eat, which is frequently the case when you order food for children in a restaraunt. When it finally cooled down, he had some and after two bites threw his hands to his mouth in panic. I tried the burger and I realised it was really spicy. I like spicy food, but I was genuinely suprised by how aggressive the spice was for something that a child was meant to eat. I would have happily eaten this burger if I wanted something spicy. When the waiter came over to ask how everything was, I said mine was great but veggie burger wasn 't suitable for a child. The waiter apologised and said she 'd tell her manager. The manager came out and said that the burger my son had was the one they 'd been serving children for ages and they 'd never had any complaints. He also said that it says on the menu that it is a spicy burger. In that moment I didn 't trust my memory that it wasn 't on the menu, but I double checked afterwards and it isn 't there. He offered me 50% off so I didn 't argue, since it 's not like it would change the meal. What I didn 't realise is that he 'd taken 50% off the kids meal, which considering I would have gone somewhere else where my son could eat his whole meal had I have known they serve a very spicy burger to kids, wasn 't actually that reasonable. I took a picture of the menu on the way out to evidence this. I thought maybe the manager might have thought I 'd deliberatly ordered the spicy burger and been mistaken, but actually reminded me the kids meal comes with the ice lolly before I paid. Another possibility is that they gave my son a spicy burger in error, but the manager again specifically said it was a spicy burger (and advertised as such on the menu, which it isn 't), so I 'm baffled. So yes, great burger if you 're a meat eating adult, terrible burger if you 're a 3.t year old vegetarian."

"Me and my grandparents went into this place knowing how normally good it is but it was the complete opposite. We have recently experienced problems with the app it will appear that the manager doesn’t get it either. We are very regular costumers and found this visit extremely disappointing. We began not being able to take all of our rewards off (we fully understand the terms and conditions involved. After half an hour of going round in circles and being made to feel very uncomfortable we eventually got down near to the price that we were supposed to and expected to pay. But the manager was very disrespectful to us and unprofessional. We left the restaurant paid the bill and left with a very bad taste in our mouths. Not happy somebody needs to look at staff training when the app goes down."

"Went here after hearing it had recently been taken over by people who run another pub nearby which is always excellent. The pub itself is beautiful, fabulous beer garden and plenty of parking. We were however very disappointed with the food. I had the cod wellington which itself was tasty but the creamed potato was very cold, I’d also got the rosemary chips which seemed to have missed the rosemary. My daughter wanted plain steak and chips. She was very clear. It came out with all the trimmings on, so she sent back. Again it came out with garlic confit on the steak, she had to scrape it off as was embarrassing to return again, and we had finished our dinners by then. My main with fries was £29, and her 8oz ribeye steak at £28, so not cheap. My husband had a burger which was fine. Feel this place would be so much better sticking to traditional pub food, rather than trying to be a gastronomic pub, something it’s not living up to."

"The food at this restaurant was average, but our dining experience was marred by an incident in the open kitchen. We were seated right next to the pass and observed the chef using a dirty tea towel to wipe surfaces and plates. Some diners complained and the chef reacted by shouting and swearing at the customers. Eventually, he stormed out after a heated argument. The young staff tried to apologize for his behavior, but it was clear that there was no one in charge. We appreciated that 20% was deducted from our bill, but unfortunately we will not be returning to Trefnant."

"what a great place to eat with amazing food and excellent service! first visit, but certainly not the last one for me and other half. as a big sushi fan I was always tired of the idea of the fusion and I was really trained on the beauty of the fusing kitchen. the food was really excellent and the aromes from this world . we are looking forward to our next visit! thanks to the teams of tropical sushi, which is super, friendly, welcoming and smiling."
