"We went for a last minute early supper on a Sunday. It was fairly noisy on arrival but the large party finishing their lunch left quite shortly otherwise it would have been annoying. Food and service were very good as usual the scallop starter was exceptional and the halibut excellent."

"We have visited Robatary on many occasions and it’s never provided us with anything other than a great experience. The staff are really friendly and are always on hand to assist you. The menu offers a wide range of both small plates as well as larger main meals. On our most recent visit, we ordered; (small plates) duck pancakes, duck fried gyozas, (large plates) katsu chicken curry and crispy chilli beef. The duck pancakes came with a hoisin dipping sauce and were really flavoursome. With the gyozas, you actually get a choice of whether you want them deep fried or steamed and a choice of two different dipping sauces as well. We opted for deep fried with the miso sauce- I would highly recommend. The main dishes were also really tasty and well presented, the portions are huge as well! The only slight complaint I have is that the egg fried rice that the crispy chilli beef comes with, was a little too goopy on this visit, another minute or so and it would’ve been perfect. Other than that though, I really can’t complain and on top of that, they also have 25% off the whole menu between 5PM-7PM as part of their early bird special! This restaurant is well worth a visit, we will definitely be returning again soon."

"Love the atmosphere of this place. This was our first time and so the idea that you finish cooking your steak to your idea of perfection on a hot stone was awesome! The choice on the menu was wonderful and we all wanted to come back before we are it looked so good. The concept is that the steaks are just sealed in the kitchen and served to you on hot stones. They all come served rare with a salt a butter and a sauce. You take the stakes of the stone immediately so they don't burn, and then you cut a piece put your butter salt and sauce if you want on the stone, then put your piece of steak on the stone to finish cooking it and seasoning it like you want. I like my steak very rare so the way it came out with was perfect and it didn't need my cooking. However because of how quickly they see the steak in the kitchen, it does need seasoning so whether you use the salt straight on your steak or on the stone, you do need to use it. Our waitress was wonderful, and suggested that even though a few of us didn't want butter salt or sauce that we should get it. She was right. She also recommended that one of our party didn't have the sliced steak, even though it is still tasty, it's not a good representation of the restaurant for our first visit. The side orders were pretty good. The fries, sweet potato fries, jacket potato, onion rings and garlic mushrooms were all great. The huge disappointment were the seasonal vegetables. They tasted precut and microwaved, and if they weren't microwaved they were old before they were boiled. You can see in the picture each piece of vegetable was very small and for the price that was a serious disappointment. The waitress was again wonderful with our drinks, with no cocktail menu she went behind the bar and made a long island iced tea herself which was delicious. Even the bill wasn't that bad when it came however, the £1 cover charge each was pretty irksome. Overall the service and the food was great and we will definitely be back to the chain."

"Waitress was lovely and pleased to see several vegan choices on the menu. Was disappointed though when both main courses came minus an element chips with the burger and kofta with the curry. (Manager did come over and explain that kofta wasn't vegan despite it saying menu that dish was veggie and dairy free and offered an alternative but partner's meal was then ready so didn't want to hold up the meal so declined. Both meals really tasty and obviously freshly prepared. However menus both a bit unclean smear of chocolate (I hope on front of drinks menu. Overall quite underwhelmed with the experience."

"beautiful, again at meat in the parish for being a family dinner. we all enjoyed our evening in this friendly, welcoming restaurant. from the minute they go, are made to feel so welcome. 2 of us had old fashionable cocktails that were perfect. three of us had made gin tonic available from the good selection of gins. we decided to go with our drinks for brot and olives. we enjoyed soft bowling crab, burrata with parma ham feigen and the wonderful wobbly bloomer served with a delicious wicy mayo. we all went for steak next tasty ribeye steaks perfectly cooked a large size and the bone in rib from the metzgerblock divided between 2 of us. the bone in rib was so tasteful, perfectly cooked and enjoyed with the chimichurri sauce (freshly cubed so well.) we have a delicious bordeaux or 2 with our net! we have with the rice pudding, chocolate orange torte and the selection of British cheese absolutely perfect end of our meal. the staff was attentive, courtesy friendly. this was one of the best nights that we had in a long time and definitely go back."

"We came to the restaurant to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and try American cuisine. I was especially excited to try the food from the smoker, and the beef brisket did not disappoint. The steak was also delicious. For dessert, we had the fudge cake and New York cheesecake, both of which we thoroughly enjoyed. The service was exceptional."

"Booked a table on line, which was easy enough. Arrived at the Windmill, the lady logged in to find our booking, which took a little while as the app kept logging her out, and it had ‘the longest ever password’ to log in her words not mine. Took our seats, and ordered our drinks via the app. After about 10 mins, the same lady asked if we were ok, we said we were waiting for drinks, she went back to the bar and retrieved our order and brought our drinks to us. Next round of drinks which again were order via the app arrived promptly. Next we ordered our mains. Medium rare 10oz stake, and a lasagna. Food arrived. Lasagna was very good. Not overpowered with tomato or garlic, very tasty. Hubby’s medium rare stake was overcooked making it a bit dry and lacking taste, but he didn’t want to wait for another to be cooked. Not once did anyone check with us how the meal was. During the meal we ordered another round of drinks, and waited patiently. The lack of drinks made a dry steak even less palatable. We finished the meals (well left half the steak) yet still no drinks. After 25 minutes I went to the bar to cancel the drinks and ask for a refund. After tapping many buttons, hey presto the order was located. There was much confusion over how to do a refund, and at one stage it was suggested that we may have to have cash and the staff member sort it later, but eventually it got sorted as a refund to the card. STILL NO ENQUIRY AS TO HOW THE MEALS WERE!!!!!! As much as I enjoyed the lasagna, I don’t think we will visit again. One member of staff was spending more time having a chat with the locals than checking on things. There were a lot of food orders being collected for delivery, I felt that these were being prioritised above the seated diners. I wish I could say the pub was busy, but it really wasn’t so there was no excuse."

"Would not recommend. Tried here for lunch while through visiting Stirling for the day, and was bitterly disappointed. The food was severely overpriced for its low quality. Ordered a portion of chicken tender and fried which were over cooked and really unpleasant. Paid £1.50 for a dip that never arrived despite requesting it again after it was initially not brought with the rest of the order. I’m not usually one for leaving reviews especially when they are this negative but I would feel really bad if a large family were to visit and waste their money as the meal wasn’t cheap. The atmosphere wasn’t great either and we were sat at a tiny table which would normally would have been fine had it not been for the additional menus and cutlery box etc that left very little room (there were slightly larger tables available that would have been much better as the place was pretty much empty bar another two tables). My partner orderd the ribs which resemble a small microwave meal on a slate style plate that was almost longer than the length of the table but was mostly made up of salad and slaw, not practical epsecially given the size of the table. I would give the food 2/10, service 1/10 and atmosphere 1/10, I recommend going somewhere else"

The previous evening however after enjoying a meal, he left his expensive headphones in the bar They went missing but I can’t fault the help we had from the friendly bar staff and especially the Manager Dean to find them and ensure they were returned to us. He went out of his way to support us and nothing was too much trouble. we will definitely be back!!"

"Very friendly, attentive and helpful staff. The starters were all interesting and not disappointing. For the mains, the steak was excellent and cooked to perfection. The sides were also excellent. Unfortunately the lobster was disappointing. The meat was removed and cooked with the mac cheese and then the whole mixture was replaced in the empty lobster shell. This totally subdued the taste of lobster and the cheesy taste was too dominant. Difficult to tell if the lobster was pre-cooked or cooked live. The shell was small and hopefully it was not re-cycled as the head and claws were missing from the presentation. Apart from that, enjoyed the steak and everything else. Will definitely eat there again only for the steaks and avoid the lobster."

I was quite overwhelmed to find the atmosphere intact, everyone relaxed, no mandat nonsense, just do what a pub is to get a table. Relax down and with a drink. to go to a bar and not speak through a plastic screen. the personal was so inviting even after so much time! I really felt humble, these people here really invest in their customers. munchables were the usual what they see is what they get and very satiating standard, delivered fast and hot. I am so glad to be back and hope to visit the king again as regularly as we have done before."

"I'm a bit obsessed with the hot wings there. beautiful place to visit during the week, put points in plus as I can work from laptop while I have a coffee. nice for an evening dinner on the earth with family, good children menu. livelier at the weekend, but they have a dj on and 2-4-1 on cocktails that is a plus. beer garden is beautiful when it is warm, but there are protected areas when it rains. not my thing, but the other half appreciates the big screens to watch the football. the employees work hard and are always helpful, never had a problem."
