"I discovered Pedros about 3 years ago a few weeks before I moved away from spennymoor. We really enjoyed our food, and when we moved we would joke saying that we missed pedros and said that it was sad that none of the local takeaways were as good. Today, I had to return to spennymoor to visit a family member so we thought that we should visit pedros for a quick bite to eat. We drove for 20 minutes trying to call but there was never an answer. After finally getting to pedros there was two customers in (current maximum due to COVID) and neither of them were wearing a mask. After standing inside for about 10 minutes, one of the three girls at the front finally asked, what my order was ... I told her I hadn’t even ordered yet!!! Then once I ordered I paid, already disappointed at the service already, she then tells me that it’s cash only. Great during a pandemic when everyone is asking to pay contactless. No excuse really, not in this day and age. Clearly there’s a reason that they don’t accept card! Then it gets better ... after paying and she gives me my change ... she THEN tells me it’s over half an hour for the food. What a joke. I walked back to my partner in the car and told him and he said that we should just get our money back ... at this point there was a queue out the door for people to be served. I am so disappointed in the service. If it’s going to be 30 minutes for food when you go in and order that’s just a joke. 30 mins for collection or delivery then fine. Hell I’ll wait longer, no problem. But after calling for 20 minutes, waiting 10 minutes inside to even be spoken to, then to be told it’s 30 minutes for food well after already paying. Also another customer asked if the takeaway had any menus no they did not. What takeaway doesn’t have menus. She told him to look at the Facebook page ... after looking at all three pages on Facebook when driving over to spennymoor, what’s the point in checking their Facebook page because it’s either 2019 or 2016 the last time they updated the page, so you have no hope of that being the correct menu ... oh and guess what, it’s not. The prices are different. What a joke, the three girls working on the 15th of August really need to be spoken to about their customer service. I’ve worked in hospitality for 4 years so I understand what it’s like to work in a busy and high intense environment but the lack of service is disgusting. Here’s to seeing if the food is just as good and sadly, even if it’s super tasty, I still give it a 1 star because of bad service. I won’t be coming back, regardless of taste! Disappointing!"

"Not only do this BK drive thru never have food cooked food, you always have to park in the car park and wait for food to be bought to you, the other day we waited 20 mins until realising. No apology, lol the cold food was sitting there. The guy said sorry I forgot. Some days it’s full menu, some days it’s set. The staff are all unhappy at work, and do not take customer service seriously at all... busy talking , joking and being unprofessional. I mean in quiet moments nobody cares what staff does. The ethos of fast food doesn’t exist here. Illusion! We had a complaint as the guy taking payment thought it was okay.... to stare at us blankly in our faces whilst disputing paying separately (which we told the lady using the intercom) he actually took the payment back and walked away. Did not communicate with us. DISGUSTED. I work in Security, if I did this to you people whilst at work... how on earth would you have a sense of protection and guidance when you visit certain places. People are at work..... so you can help out share the load and complete the day together. It’s like there a relaxed family in there. The manger can’t even delegate. His attitude was a joke. I see last year someone took a photo of him to complain at how he couldn’t rectify his staffs mistake. Some people get these managerial positions because of who they know.... not there ability to smash it and turn over the store. Pitiful sorry and it took about 20 to charge and collect our food. Almost like he was trying to subtly make us pay. It’s not an option for you not to serve me as I am paying and have not trespassed. Like I shall also write to head office. It’s a great flagship store but all the locals laugh and complain at the service here. Needs one serious revamp and investigation into staff and their daily operations. I bet there would be cause for concern. So slack."

"After a busy Christmas, cooking for elderly parents and family, my husband thought it would be nice to treat me to meal out. We had been to the grill room in the Royal Oak previously and had a very nice experience. We have recently moved...to the area and my husband Made a reservation for the two of us. I always like to start on the positives. This place is clearly taking Covid compliance seriously are the restaurants at screens segregating all the tables. The decor of the place and the Christmas decorations were simply divine. However, let’s get onto the food. My husband‘s meal was absolutely fine. To say that mine was a lacklustre was an understatement. The starter was meant to come with an Asian salad, slices of cucumber and raw tomato with a little bit of red onion is not an Asian salad! I had ordered a rump steak to be cooked medium with a side order of garlic butter and a side order of onion rings. When the meals were brought out, My steak, when I tried it was rare! Very rare. The sidedish that was supposed to come with it was a corn dish. Instead, it came with a mini corn on the cob. The waitress was really really nice, and took my food back. They offered to keep my husbands food warm whilst they further cooked my steak. We know from past experience that if a medium cooked duck breast is kept warm, it’s not very good! He continued to eat his dinner whilst My steak was correctly cooked. The onion rings which I had ordered as a side dish were left on the table, I thought it prudent to eat them while they were still warm. Sadly none of the oil has been drained from these correctly. There was so much oil in them and were not nice. My steak was placed back onto the grill And brought back out. Sadly, not all of the steak was brought out. Secondly no corn. The garlic butter was now inedible, it has completely melted and now resembles soup. The waitress explained that they were very shortstaffed and it had been a busy day. They had clearly run out of some of the food that they should’ve been serving and the substitute was not up to standard. Establishments should make diners aware of this before they take their seat. Had we have been advised of their staffing issues, we would’ve taken our custom elsewhere. The bill was £88. This was after they had taken off £3.50 for one of the side dishes that we had ordered as an extra. To be honest the compensation hardly made up for the lacklustre dining experience. Will not be rushing back to this place. That I’m much better places to eat locally. Such a pity as this place could be something special."

"We won free tickets to a comedy night it. When we got there and spoke to people it seems everyone had WON free tickets to fill the venue. That's fine but if you are struggling to get people into your venue advertising other than fb might be a good idea and details of what food you do a menu price list etc. That a side we were greeted by a very pleasant young man and seated we then queued 30 mins for our first drink by which time we were told the food was no longer been served we and others were in a queue for food eventually they decided to serve the food it was only pie and peas but to their credit the pie was wonderful and the gentleman who served it very polite. Furniture was then rearranged tables moved people asked to move why this had not been done earlier was baffling. The Comedy act started !!! The first act was a magician ?! The bar closed ?? I can understand them not wanting people moving about on a comedy act but at least have table service. 45 mins later bar opens for 15 mins still waiting to be served after standing for 20 min . Some young men in front wanted to double up on there drinks and were told one drink per customer wow surely if you have let everyone in for free and fed them you would want to make money at the bar, The bar had two staff on a young girl who was clearly new and knew where nothing was or any prices. They were badly stocked and the Bar manager so obnoxious and her customer service was deplorable. The bar closed again!! We sat through the second act which was dying on its feet we then left as we in 3 hours we had had two drinks and experience the worst kind of service. The management at The Town Hall need to concentrate on one business and if they are having an event make sure they are prepared for it and maybe invest in some stock and experienced staff. We would love to try The Townhall again only not while these people are in charge. The icing on the cake when we were leaving was the compare asking people who were visiting the bar to take with them all their empties!!! The plates from our food were on our table all night no one removed them."

"Not many cafes or restaurants open in Thurso on a Monday so we opted for Y’Not because we have been there a few times in the past. The restaurant and toilets were very clean. There was only one lad serving, clearing tables, taking orders, dealing with queries and making drinks. There was another staff member around but I’m not too sure what his role was. I was there with my husband and our two year old and nine month old granddaughters. We were presented with 4 adult menus. No idea why we would need 4. I asked for a child menu which quickly arrived. We ordered drinks but the coffees aren’t exactly full. I also ordered a bottle of water which arrived with no glass. I asked for a glass and was presented with a whisky tumbler! We ordered a child’s macaroni, a steak ciabatta and a Highland burger. We then waited approximately 50 minutes for it to arrive even though only one table had food during that time. When the food did arrive the steak ciabatta didn’t have fried onions or corn on the cob as stated on the menu. There was a generous helping of onion relish though. The meal could have been hotter but it was really, really tasty and the steak was cooked the way I liked it and the ciabatta was packed with steak. It would have been better with thicker chips and not stringy fries. The Highland burger was also tasty but it was only warm. The kids macaroni tasted like ready made sauce and had no cheese on top. It was almost cold. We asked for a second cappuccino but it didn’t arrive. Overall, we will come back. The food is good, just not hot enough and it takes far too long to arrive at the table. The front of house staff needs assistance. He’s definitely over worked at busy times. This could be a great restaurant if the niggles are sorted."
