"I have ordered food from this restaurant several times now and have no complaints about the quality or price. However, the delivery service is very poor. The first time we ordered, we waited nearly 2 hours and I ended up walking to the restaurant to pick it up, only to receive a call from my wife saying the food had arrived while I was out. I tried calling to check on the order, but couldn't get through. Other reviews seem to agree with this experience. They also have a permanent advertisement for delivery drivers in the window, which might be part of the problem. It's a great curry house for collection since we are only 5 minutes away."

"I am a long standing customer of The Spice Merchant and unfortunately the consistency just isn’t there. It’s never bad, sometimes great, but mostly good. Recently prices seemed to have increased across the board, but also portion size has been reduced, so it no longer feels like value for money. The naan is almost half the size, but is almost twice as expensive. The meat in most dishes seems to have halve too, but are now about £3 more expensive. Popadoms used to be included, but are no £1 each?"

"we had never visited this restorative before when we arrived at it not very busy, I think 4 tables were included. there were at least 5 waiters. we have ordered a beer and poppadome and then our order for our main. the dives with the poppadoms were watery, including the mango cutney. we ordered another beer, but our food had not arrived yet, I asked a waiter and he checked with the kitchen and he said it would be 5 miute, we waited 10/15 minutes, but still no eating, so we agreed that we would pay for what we had and go. we talked to another waiter to advise him about it, and he said that eating would be 5 minutes more. we said we were going, as we said 20 minutes ago. we had to go and pay and waited for the bill. all this time, when we bing said that it's coming, but it didn't really appear. the waiter who edited the bill, apologised, but did not offer a good willing discount, although I told him that it was our first visit there so that we ended paying £14.70 for 2 beer and 2 poppadome. When we left the time, we were in there for about 75 minutes. if they were busy, that could be understandable, but the waiters were just about most of the time."

"Our first visit to a curry restaurant on Brick Lane was very enjoyable. We arrived at 10pm and found the restaurant starting to quiet down after a busy evening. We were warmly welcomed and received excellent service throughout our meal. The staff were attentive, professional, and friendly. Our drinks arrived quickly, including a refreshing cold draught of Kingfisher beer. We started with classic dishes of Onion Bhajias and Prawn on Puri, followed by main courses of Chicken Tikka and Chicken Tikka Dhansak. We also had rice, Naan bread, and Tarka Dahl to accompany our meal. All the dishes were well-presented, perfectly spiced, and served in generous portion sizes. The restaurant had a lovely decor and ambiance, making our dining experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this restaurant."

"I am surprised by the evaluation of this place to be honest. on the demand of some Indian food I have ordered here by vans. tried the aloo dum gravy, huhn tikka, wobble rings among many of their appetizers. my favorite here is the biryani. it is not the typical biryani that they get in India or elsewhere. it has a beautiful aroma and very gentle taste that loved me this place. "Food was ok. Some plates were flavourful, however own plate was described as medium hot (Kashmir special) but lacked any spice and was rather bland. Service wasn't great. Sadly there was a large party downstairs, which led to our meal taking over an hour to arrive at the table, and staff weren't particularly apologetic to it. Appreciate when it's busy can be slow, but staff didn't really care. That said when they did serve tables they were friendly enough."

The only downside was the overcooked lamb in the madras dish, which prevented it from getting a perfect 5-star rating. "I ordered a takeaway which included a vegetable biryani. Normally, this dish is flavorful and packs a punch, but unfortunately, this one lacked taste and was very bland. If I had been blindfolded, I wouldn't have been able to tell it was supposed to be Indian food. There was no seasoning, spices, or heat at all, making it tasteless. The dish was full of roughly cut chunks of raw onion and the French beans were so tough that they were inedible. This has to be the worst Indian takeaway I have ever had. I am so disappointed because the food from this restaurant is usually of high quality, but not on this occasion."

"Since we last visited some years ago the Everest has made a real effort with their décor including a new beer garden out front. Lighting inside is decorative and colourful but overall ambience is a little too bright maybe? Our food was very disappointing, we ordered Everest Special Mismas and Mixed Grill Masala as mains. Both were higher priced dishes that were supposed to include prawns but there were none in either dish. The Mismas didn 't look anything like the menu photo but in fairness they do state Photos are for suggestion only: Actual Platters may appear DIFFERENT . The Masala grill was described as medium sauce but our dish was very mild with no trace of chilli heat. The stuffed paratha was undercooked and greasy. Pilau rice and vegetable bhuna side however were both very good. Kingfisher and Cobra are served on draft but both were charged 30p a pint more than the printed menu price it 's gone up was the explanation. Prices overall are fair but I was hoping for authentic tasty food that at least lived up to the menu descriptions."

"Walking up Borough High Street, I passed Truly Indian on my way to sainsburys. I noticed that the chicken tikka wrap was back on their lunch time menu. It had not been advertised for while but historically I had at least one a week when there were last on the menu. They were amazing £5.95 for the wrap and a drink.So decided to have one again, this time its advertisd at £4.95 but no drink. Not to worry dont like fizzy drinks anyway.So at my desk and half way through it and although the sauce had changed and not as good as previous the main issue was the chicken. I decided to unwrap it and clearly the old chuncks of chicken tika have been replaced with finer cuts of chicken with no tikka. And I counted 4 very small slivers the size of a finger nail.This is just unbeleivable. I know produce and rents have gone up but a decent operator is not taking the mickey with this type of trick.Management please sort it out please, at £5 i can get a decent burger of the market or a mixed meat mezze at the establishment opposite you. Not happy. Clearly not, as I dont write reviews unless something is great or something is really bad."

"This was my first time visiting this restaurant, but it definitely won't be my last. A friend recommended it to me and I had an excellent dining experience. The food was delicious, with a wide selection on the menu to choose from. The drinks list was impressive, the decor was beautiful, and the staff were attentive. The restaurant manager was very pleasant, and as we were celebrating my friend's belated birthday, he surprised us with a complimentary glass of prosecco and a cake with a sparkler - a really nice touch. Overall, I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant and absolutely loved it."
