"When our meal arrived, everything seemed fine until my husband discovered a piece of chicken tikka in his dish. Luckily, we had not started eating yet and he did not ingest the chicken. We were very upset and called the waiter over. He apologized and offered to replace the dish, but we were too disgusted by the experience to accept. It seemed like a deliberate act, as we had specifically requested vegan dishes this time, whereas in the past we were fine with vegetarian options. We feel that this incident is unacceptable, regardless of whether it was a mistake or intentional. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this restaurant, despite the fact that the food is normally very good. This disappointing experience has left a bad taste in our mouths. Vegan and vegetarian diners, beware!"

"Ordered from here a number of times, on this occassion i ordered for a 6pm pick up but had to change the time last minute to 6.30, not a problem and the meal, a starter and main with chapattis and poppadoms was ready for pick up, piping hot and great tasting. Still can't fault the quality of food and service atthis place. (not that I would want to! Parking: Plenty of parking for picking up food. "I ordered a takeaway on the and I’ve never been more disappointed. Firstly our food was all cold, I specifically choose an restaurant that’s not too far from my home (Less then miles away) so I do not expect to have to warm...my food in the microwave! My partner ordered a Chicken Tikka CHILLI Massala which is described as “hot and punchy” but the curry was bland and equivalent to a Korma! Mushroom rice, the Chilli Massala and the Aloo Gobi were all swimming in water and oil (I have added some photos to show this) We ordered a Garlic Naan but again this was freezing cold and was also rock hard, I couldn’t even cut it with a pizza cutter! I do not like leaving bad reviews at all. I have already phoned Spice Garden and tried to talk to them about our order but when explaining to them about our food they did not seem to care, no apology given at all. Extremely disappointing food. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!"

"We wanted to get some North Indian food on our Scotland trip after a long day, and luckily, Sam's was open until later. As vegetarians, we were told that it was mainly a non vegetarian place but we could get a few veggie options. We opted out of getting any fried starters as we were told that they were fried in the same oil along with meat. We went straight for the mains: Butter Tandoori Roti, Butter Chapati, Kadai Mix Vegetable, Saag Paneer and Dal Tadka with a side salad of onion/lemon/chilies. The food was really well made and we enjoyed it and would recommend. However, the only thing that could be better was the service we did not feel welcome. We did not receive a smile or any greetings throughout the experience. The staff was polite but curt and lacked the warmth and hospitality that one would appreciate when dining in. Not a single waiter from the many once came by to ask how we were doing and whether we needed anything or to even inform us that the kitchen was closing and we should place any last orders we may have. However, I think this may just be towards certain groups of people because I saw them smile at and check in on local looking folks. Vegetarian options: There are plenty of vegetarian options"

"Pleasant surroundings and decent atmosphere. The starter was nice but main course was quite bland even though it 's described as medium spice on the menu. Don 't order the bottled Kingfisher beer (unless you like flat beer). I asked them to take it back and replace it. Guess what? "My partner and I dined at this restaurant last night, and I personally believe it was the best Indian food I have had in years. We were warmly greeted and promptly seated at a table. We had purchased an Itison voucher (two courses for two people, with a choice of house red or white wine) which only cost us £17 total. The starters were beautifully presented and tasted delicious, setting us up nicely for our main courses. I chose the South Indian garlic chilli dish, while my husband opted for the Nepalese bhuna. Both dishes were flavorful and authentic. Since we had used an Itison voucher, we paid for the poppadoms and chutney before heading home to relax for the evening. Overall, I must say that for a restaurant that had just opened a few weeks ago, the service was friendly and the food was exceptional. Keep up the good work, Essence - we will definitely be back."

"Sadly the service was a let down . Only two sweet waiters trying their best to keep up with the table orders and the phone take always and pick ups . The lights were too bright , and we were seated by the window where people passing on the bus and walking past could see exactly what we were eating . When the food finally arrived it was delicious . Well worth the wait . We got to meet the owner to and he kindly allowed us to voice our opinion which I believe he really took on board . I would have also preferred to hear Asian music instead of dated pop music. Dimmed lights , more privacy , more staff and Asian music . Certainly would be a big hit .. Lovely night over all and I wish this place well as the owner was such a gentleman ."

"We chose this restaurant as a place to meet with friends last night. Although the food was good, we felt a little rushed. We still had several poppadoms left, when the waiter cane and asked if we'd finished with them. As we were paying for them, we felt we should be allowed to finish them at least? The restaurant wasn't overly busy, yet they started to remove plates whilst some members of our group were still eating. But the biggest disappointment I felt, was a service charge added to our bill!! We spent approx £266 on food and drink and each of us would have happily added a tip, but when we saw the service charge of nearly £27, we immediately decided no. Sadly, for that reason alone, we won't be returning to this restaurant. Service charges like that are rude, presumptuous and a sure fire way of putting people off. Most people are happy to tip. It would be far nicer if a place waited for this, rather than automatically adding their own."

"We went as a large group, all experienced curry diners, and we had a variety of curries, all excellent. Some Balti, some Bangladeshi, some Tandoori, and everyone agreed that they were very good. Service was superb and efficient. We didn't have to wait for initial poppadum service to begin. The starters arrived not long after ordering. When dining in large groups it is frustrating when dishes arrive at intervals, but all our curries were served simultaneously, as were our starters. Great evening, super curries. Prices reasonable as well. Yep, top curry house."

"There was no food available and I am not sure if they even serve food at this restaurant, so I am giving it 1 star. The alcohol-free selection was limited, and I don't always want to just drink coke or water. Our tables were grouped in pairs, which was frustrating since we had booked two tables of 4 several days in advance. We called earlier in the day to confirm our reservation, but there were no reserved signs when we arrived. This was not ideal for a family gathering to watch a football game."

"Good ambience... And that's the only good thing! Food some items are ok like naan bread. But curries were bad. Especially Tikka masala was so sweet like dessert. Service was pathetically slow. Pulav rice was like yesterday's left out plain rice. Will not visit again, given there are so many other Indian restaurants around."
