"Stopped coming here a year ago because of many issues, but reluctantly retuned early June to find the place had transformed back to what i remembered from years gone. Warm and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere. Everything was a plus the staff were so friendly one Emily in particular. We as a family thought new owners had taken over. As the management seemed different and to be fair the food was amazing. and despite the cost this was a treat that was truly worth it. We all couldn't wait to return. However fast forward a few months we all returned as a group to be so disappointed in the whole experience. The atmosphere we loved seemed to have disappeared and the feeling of warmth had gone. service was average but the food was so below par. we decided to ask why this had happened but was met by rudeness on a great scale by a young man claiming to be the assistant. Who claimed no one else had complained so what was the problem. No apology at all. We were goin to ask for a full refund but my wife decided to leave as she was too upset. The Manager came out as we left. too late if me and my whole party were concerned. I'm sure he was the Chef before, Perhaps he should return to the kitchen. This has always been considered a treat at the bunk what with the cost of living crisis. But myself and my friends will now spend our money somewhere else where you can get real value for money where people know what customer service and standards really are and your given that feeling that you would love to return. Here none of us will return and hope this review and experience may help others when thinking of treating themselves or using those extra pennies that are precious. Have no idea what is goin on here what a disaster. We all felt Cheated."

"steady. carluccio in smithfield is like a back-up, a reasonable alternative for me when I close to smithfield or comptoir gascon and they are full for a woken breakfast / brunch. this is a quite common hesitation, as sos cg slide the scale higher and are more desirable due to the trendy, more prosperous masses that are more frequent this part of the city. but we should not think less of the local carluccio. it has been shown to Italian cafe food of a steady quality. yes, the deli items in front of the shop are overpriced, but there is a focus on regional specialities, and it is a convenient holding point for mozzarella, ricotta, parma ham, dried porcini, risotto rice, tinted fish and saffron if they cannot find it elsewhere. the inner of this branch is light and airy, with high ceilings and a very relaxed feeling, making it ideal for a long brunch with friends and some wash papers. Coffee and baked are decent, the full breakfast is not bad for £8.50 that contains coffee juice, plus it grilled pancetta instead of fat speck. nice! it is also one of the rare places in london that makes bicerin. there are no pizzas here, but the pasta is again decent. I like the ricotta spinat ravioli served simply in sage butter. pasta here is actually cooked to al dente. I also like their thick, peasy pasta e fagioli (pasta beane) but not so sharp on their meek-watery mushroom soup. the menu changes with the season and there are daily specialties that are for a chain, is nice to see."

"Came here for dinner and the customer service was horrendous. We were ignored for a while and stood around waiting, despite several staff members walking past and making eye contact with us (no one was standing at the concierge reception desk). Then we were sent to the bar area to wait DESPITE having a reservation. They then proceeded to keep us waiting for a further minutes they only came to get us when I asked for the manager himself (clearly they had forgotten about us The manager then proceeded to question our booking saying it didn’t exist. I showed them proof of a confirmation email, which I received yesterday, to which the manager said ‘the booking is for tomorrow’ he didn’t even read the date which said it was for today. Bare in mind the restaurant was not that busy at all! There were several empty tables and despite this we were kept waiting. I’ve worked in customer service so I know when the staff do not care about their customers and that was evident right here. I am highly disappointed as what was meant to be a great night had an awful start thanks to Patara. Will never be coming back here. No food is worth the disrespect. It’s always disappointing when you’re rushing to make your booking on time, so as to not delay the restaurant but the restaurant couldn’t care less about seating you on time. And then they had the gall to add service charge to my bill! After the awful service!"

"Our visit was completely ruined by the hotel manager and I ended up crying in the car park when we left! The worst experience I’ve had at a hotel or restaurant ever. When we checked in the receptionist told us the breakfast time and there was no mention of the cost. We thought breakfast was included, my brother made the booking so I didn’t have the record. At breakfast we were told it wasn’t included (fair enough if we hadn’t paid for it but I said I thought it was included and offered to go and get my phone to check. the lady said she’d call the manager to check. We sat down and the lady told us breakfast was £10 but that she was waiting to hear back from the manager about whether it was included and she gave us some menus. We were going to pay anyway even if it wasn’t included but just wanted to check. The menu was a set menu with a main brek item, tea/coffee, fruit juice and 1 side. We all ordered the items included. When it came to paying I said to the lady that I’d pop back down and pay as I didn’t want to cause my Dad any stress. When I came back to pay, the lady said we hadn’t paid for the rooms! I showed her the payment on my phone and that issue was sorted but it was strange and a bit strange. She then said the breakfast was £52!!! Then the manager came in. I explained she said it was £10 each which would have been a total of £30. The manager then started getting angry saying our rooms were really good value and why did I ever think breakfast was included which was strange as I already understood we needed to pay for breakfast by this point. We then got into a back and forth argument about whether the lady had given us the menu with prices. The manager then showed us the menu with prices which we hadn’t seen started saying we must have seen the menu with prices as my Dad had ordered a grapefruit juice (it’s just his favourite juice! I then turned and asked the lady if she had told us the breakfast was £10, she said no. I asked her if she had given us the menu with prices and she said yes. I asked her twice and she lied repeatedly. It was a very strange situation. I actually started to feel a bit sorry for her as I think she must have been scared of loosing her job if she told the truth as the manager was very aggressive. He then said things like ‘You’re really enjoying this aren’t you!’ I was not enjoying it at all!! He then started going on about the cost of the Frobisher juice and how could the breakfast have been £10 talking again about how good value our rooms where and starting to rant, he was getting quite angry. But this wasn’t a question of value, it was a question of whether we knew the cost of the breakfast we didn’t. In the end I paid the £52 as my Dad was waiting and I went into the car park and burst into tears! My Dad popped back to tell them that we didn’t have the menu with prices and that we had been told it was £10. So overall, a horrible experience!! of course it wasn’t about the cost in the end, it was about not knowing the cost then being asked to pay a different price to what we’d been told I was a liar."
