"Ate at this restaurant last night as a party of 10 colleagues, with myself being the only non meat eater. We ordered a banquet with many different dishes, and my colleague requested that some vegan dishes be included. This seemed to astonish the waiter, and he asked who the vegan was. When I said it was me, he said ah, an extremist! and proceeded to conversationally attack me on my reasons for going vegan in front of my entire office. I wasn 't much interested in getting into the preachy details as this would have made my colleagues feel awkward, and as soon as I started to defend myself, my colleagues advised him not to pursue the discussion, to which he replied it 's OK, I have a good argument! . His big argument: VEGETABLES HAVE SOULS. I am incredulous by this point, not only because my food choices were being criticised and mocked by a waiter during the ordering process, but because I couldn 't believe he could come out with something so inherently stupid and not be joking. I asked him three times if he was serious, and each time he responded with a deadpan face that he was. My colleagues cut off the conversation as I was just awkwardly laughing, I am all for a bit of banter at my expense but I am also known to speak my mind when the occasion calls for it, and they could see that it was getting to that point. I then had to put up with comments such as how 's the [milk dish] guys? good? you should tell her what she 's missing! etc The only reason we chose to eat at this restaurant was because of the selection of non-meat dishes for me, which is ironic considering the prejudiced and downright disrespectful service I had to endure. My colleagues all agreed that it was the most unprofessional and awkward service they had ever experienced. The food itself was OK but nothing interesting. If you 're still wondering why I 'm vegan, waiter, go and look up dairy is scary on youtube and then please tell me more about how I 'm the extreme one."

I love that you can bring your own wine here for £1 corkage fee. You can also buy wine and beer for a reasonable price too (but sainsburys is just round the corner). There is a good selection on the menu, and if you love kebabs, you'll love it here! I had lamb chops with salad for £14; they brought out about 8 chops and I couldn't finish them all, and the dressing on the salad was tasty and refreshing. This place is always full when I come and I am not surprised. It's reasonable, has a good atmosphere and you're guaranteed good wine!

Yara has major attitude problems. We felt rushed and pressured when ordering, which was not a nice experience. The meat was tasty, but some of the vegetable dishes were not great. They have a separate allergen menu, but the rice contains vermicelli, so there are limited options for gluten-free diners. The waiter was dismissive when asked for plain rice, demonstrating poor attitude. We had to ask three times for the bill, and the staff barely acknowledged us when dropping it off. Overall, Yara may be a good choice if you prefer minimal interaction with the wait staff and enjoy basic Lebanese food. However, if you seek quality service and a more respectful dining experience, it may be best to...

I have mixed feelings about this restaurant. There were some great aspects, some average, and some not so good. Starting with the negative, the place was very crowded and uncomfortable. We were squeezed in closely to the tables next to us and behind us, and the noise level was too loud at times. We went on a Wednesday night and the restaurant was busy, so it may not be a good choice for a quiet evening. The service was average, as there were not enough staff for the number of customers, resulting in inconsistent service. On the positive side, the restaurant is BYOB, which is always a plus. The food was excellent, and we enjoyed everything from the salads to the desserts. Overall, we had a gr...

Fatty Food Weekend Part 2 at Yara: On Friday night, I visited Yara with three other ladies. The restaurant has been extended since my last visit, with more seating available. However, they still pack in a lot of tables, so be prepared to be close to other diners and hear their conversations. The food was really good - we enjoyed a delicious aubergine dip and houmous topped with lamb. The mixed grill was perfectly cooked and juicy, and the spinach and cheese parcel starter was divine. The Greek salad and mixed rice were also tasty. The food is well-priced and it's a BYOB restaurant, making for an affordable night out. Located in Altrincham, it's just a tram ride away from Hale. A downside is...

Our multi generational family group really enjoyed our meal here recently. They are a family run restaurant specialising in traditional Lebanese and Syrian food. The menu is quite comprehensive to say the least, and not being *that* familiar with the cuisine of this region we opted for a few starter dishes we'd heard of (such as Babaghanouj) together with some others we hadn't. Sharing everything was a great way to try multiple things and I'd recommend it here as there were some really tasty discoveries. For mains, most of us chose a kebab in one form or another, with separate servings of salad and rice (the Mujadara rice whole lentils rice cooked in vegetable oil spices, topped with fried o...

"Alborz is a wonderful hidden gem in Levenshulme that serves a variety of Persian and Middle-Eastern food, located on Stockport Rd you could be forgiven for thinking that Alborz is as unassuming as it's humble exterior suggests. However, what lies behind those modest doors is truly fantastic restaurant both in terms of food and service. The interior is understated and tasteful, furnished with Persian vases and ornate tea sets, the tables are close together to make the most of the limited space available but this lends a refreshing communal atmosphere to your meal. The staff were friendly and attentive and more than happy to talk you through the menu and explain the various dishes. We ordered the Mezze Platter to start, this consists of four different starters, and is ideal if you're not overly familiar with Persian cuisine, the homemade hummus was a particular highlight being both fresh and tasty. We then ordered the Alborz special grill for two, which looks as wonderful as it tastes, succulent skewers of koobideh and chicken accompanied by grilled vegetables, saffron rice and a freshly baked taltoon bread which was frankly quite ridiculous in its magnificence and is so large it came supplied with its own stand. This was a true delight to eat and I can highly recommend it. After all of that, we were overloaded with food and couldn't possibly consider having dessert and so, asked for the bill, which led to true surprise of the evening, all of this wonderfully authentic and fresh food came to a grand total of £42. This reflects tremendous value in a time where a meal for two can often prove quite expensive. Overall I would say that Alborz is definitely worth visiting if you're in the area and if you're not well then it's worth making the trip for. If you're a fan of Persian food or perhaps want to try something new then you would genuinely struggle to find such a quality dining experience at this price point."

"I've been to a couple of different Dishoom branches a few times and have never been disappointed by the breakfast options. The sausage naan roll is excellent. A couple of really tasty vegan sausages with some melted vegan cheese all wrapped up in a lovely soft naan and served with some sort of sweet chilli dipping sauce. My go to now is usually the vegan Bombay. It's a good hearty breakfast plate with... a couple of the same well seasoned vegan sausages. Some vegan tofu akuri a nicely spiced tofu scramble. Some very well cooked mushroom slices (that are maybe a wee bit under seasoned). The baked beans are really nicely spiced, elevating them far beyond the standard sweet sauce fare that's the usual. A few slices of well flavoured black pudding (that could be fried to being a bit crispier). A cooked tomato which is a bit dull, I've never been keen on tomatoes on my breakfast plate and this once has not changed my mind. It could do with some more charring and maybe some spicing. To help you mop everything up, the whole thing is served with a couple of soft bread buns that have been nicely toasted. I usually top the whole thing off with some chocolate chai with oat milk you get free refills for your chai. Unfortunately, it isn't wheelchair accessible. There are stairs up into the restaurant and various small flights of stairs to get to different parts of the restaurant. Updated from previous review on 2024 03 25"
