"Yesterday evening, I visited this restaurant for the first time. It was a new experience for me, although it had actually been open for about a year. I decided to try it after a particularly stressful day."

"I booked an early table for 6.15, but had walked past earlier and seen the restaurant full now I know why! Excellent ambiance, superb food which was well presented and exemplary service by cheerful staff (think First Dates Restaurant). Lovely atmosphere, great menu range and priced really well. Highly recommended for couples and small groups of friends. A gem in Blackpool Enjoy!"

"Came to this place as they had special stews on that day, chicken with beans or spare rib with pasta and vegetables. Myself and my partner had one of each and we were not disappointed. The portion sizes were decent and the chicken stew came with a side of rice at no extra cost. The soup of the was oxtail which was again very warming and packed with flavour. The staff were efficient and attentive regularly checking with us that our meals were okay and also helping with a wine that matched the meals. Overall I would highly recommend this place for great home cooked food with excellent customer service."

"Came here for afternoon tea. Great outdoor seating on a pleasant day. Price for the afternoon tea is reasonable. However the experience itself was underwhelming. I think it needs more of a Moroccan influence, especially the savouries. The service was atrocious lacking attention to detail. No spoons with the dessert, no one refilling the water and we had to ask for our final course which took about 20 min after waiting for 15 min assuming they were bringing it out automatically. This place could be amazing but they have quite a bit of work to do. Was so looking forward to it but alas, left disappointed. PS. While writing this, our scones and jam finally came....without knives to spread the cream or the jam with."

"It's the first time for me in London. But I've already discovered London is city full of good places where you can taste high quality food. But I've never eaten in a place that serves North-African food. At the entery a kind old man dressed in traditional North African clothing welcomes you. He shows you the way in. Ones inside you feel like visiting a street somewhere in North-Afrika. The staff walking around is really focussing on helping you and making you feel good. Now the main event... the food!! IT'S AMAZING!!! And don't be affraid that it's not enough... Because you get a lot of this perfect serverd food! Momo I thank you for a wonderfull dinner."

"The venue itself is beautiful. Really lovely pub as so many are in Bath. Unfortunately the reception we had from the girl on the bar downstairs was unfriendly, boarding on rude. Had to wait for our table which was 20 mins late, which I understand on a busy Sunday is often the case not easy to turn the tables. Roast dinners were okay, nice Yorkshire pudding which came regardless of what meat you ordered which is a nice touch. We ordered the extra potatoes at nearly £5 which was a little pricey. Out of 5 puddings, only 2 were available. Again they were fine but nothing more than that. For two people, both having two courses and a pint and a half of Pepsi each nearly £90 stung a bit."

"I seem to be going against the crowd here, but I wasn't very impressed. The decor is lovely, and the service is good, but the food was pretty average. They do have a gluten free menu which is helpful, but I ordered the chicken in a cream sauce with mushrooms, and that was really not what I got. My chicken had been cooked in a red wine with lots of tomato, there were mushrooms, but the sauce was not creamy, and was barely thickened from the braising liquid. Hubby had gluten free pumpkin soup for starters and did like that, so I suppose the dishes were hit and miss."

"We had a very pleasant evening overall. The ambience was very friendly and convivial. The service was professional and very attentive and the food was well prepared and very delicious. This being said, there were a few slip-ups. When we arrived the receptionist could not find our reservation and it took a while until they could find it. The portion sizes were very small and as a result the meal did not seem to be very good value."

"Food was good as always the service was charming, but erratic (three times had to wave for someone to take pudding order bill). But the worst was to put a table of mothers and babies next to us and the babies were very loud! Total madness, if you want to attract people for business dinner, don't put screaming babies next to them. It was irritating and distracting. For the third time I was in this normally excellent restaurant in a few months and, while I still like it, I am confused by the lack of attention to detail in this last visit."

"Waiting for the bus home opposite and finding out it wouldn’t come for another 25 mins, I decided to treat myself to a dinner out instead. An extremely warm welcome the instant I walked through the door and the best service I’ve had in a restaurant for a long time! The atmosphere is very relaxed, food delicious, very reasonable and really quick to be served too. The menu is really varied with some great pasta, pizza, salad, meat and seafood options so I’m sure there’s something for everyone. All in all, an accidental discovery, but a fantastic find and I’ll most definitely be back again soon thank you!"

"We had lunch at Wanderlust because it was close to where we were and we had seen that it had four stars on HappyCow, but we were disapponted and should have read the more recent reviews first. There is not a large choice of vegan food anymore and all of the vegan lunch dishes are based on mock chicken, so we had the vegan breakfast for lunch (we don‘t enjoy mock chicken). This would have been ok because a traditional Scottish breakfast can be very filling, however, the food was mediocre or even worse. It arrived after a few minutes and was clearly just warmed up. It all lacked taste and seasoning and we did not finish our meals although we still felt hungry. My husband had the lemonade which was ok. I had the peach iced tea which had almost no flavour and tasted like infused water. Moreover, the staff were not that welcoming. This place looks so cute from the outside but with so many restaurants to choose from in Edinburgh, we would not go here again. Visited in October 2023 Updated from previous review on 2023 10 19"

"We just received our order and it was incredibly disappointing. It was the worst delivery experience we have ever had. Our evening was ruined by the poor quality of the food. We ordered a pizza, pasta, and oven-baked potatoes, and all of them were terrible. They looked normal, but the taste was inedible. The pizza was the worst we have ever had - cold, dry, and tasting like stale bread with hardly any cheese or tomato sauce. The salmon pasta was extremely oily, lacking the promised pink sauce, and the pasta was overcooked to the point of being mushy. The potatoes were not crispy and tasted bland and oily. We regret spending money on this meal and feel that the positive reviews must be fake. This Italian restaurant is a scam. We couldn't eat the food and had to order from another place instead. Disgusting."

"Chenestons is a wonderful find! We couldn’t have had a more superb experience. Leo and Julia are really excellent – their customer service is outstanding. All the other staff were equally superb, warm and genuine, I didn’t catch their names. It really is a special place and I was so excited because some of my favourite music is Glenn Miller and Al Bowlly and this was gently playing in the background which enhances the 1930s and 40s feel of the place. I was in utter heaven! The food was wonderful. We had help choosing our wine and Leo understood exactly what we liked and what would match our food and he didn’t oversell or make us choose a really expensive bottle. We appreciated this very much. The cauliflower starter was exquisite as was my smoked salmon. My halibut was gorgeous and my fiancé’s chicken pie was perfect. We visited for lunch before the Proms that evening and it really was a day we will never forget. Thank you so much. I can’t wait to come back."

"very attentive and charming staff that felt comfortable and welcome. we had the escaping almost for ourselves and eating and drinking came as a result quickly. the portions were generous. the menu had suitable for vegan products it was good to see several options on the menu for people with specific nutritional requirements. In order to improve the experiences in the future, fresh ingredients (e.g. in the seafood linguins that seemed to be frozen) would be preferred, but given the current circumstances after the block and at the end of the summer season, the lack of fresh ingredients is understandable. the pub is located on the opposite side of the hotel lobby from the restaurant and worked much cosier due to the warmer lighting, the unhindered windows and the general unfussy decoration. the restaurant where we ate was quite “cold” (not in the ambient temperature, but in the atmosphere) with a very blue palette of decoration and surfaces, and with the blinds and thick curtains the half over the windows. to make more available sunlight or add some attractive internal lighting, here would make a welcome difference the procedure to pay the meal should be checked. I am sure it makes practical sense to collect card payments in the bar, but it felt quite strange in a world where we are so used to, personal also in the position to collect payments everything in all I would expect all dunes to enjoy a simple, square meal that could not be the paragon of English cuisine, but will certainly satisfy everyone starving in a attentive environment."

"Absolute stonker of a pub/restaurant. The pub is upstairs on the Broad St level, and the restaurant (which also has a bar) is down one level towards Gas St and the canal. The food is fantastic, and surprisingly inexpensive. The waiting staff are great chatty and efficient and the atmosphere is cracking. We were sat near the bar, but still had plenty of space for dining."

"A peaceful oasis in St.Martins Lane a choice for a pre theatre dinner. Most of the other bars in the area seemed crowded and noisy. There were only two other couples in the restaurant. Tables were large and the chairs comfortable. I had read reviews that the background music had been too loud but I found the music unobtrusive. I similarly had read reviews that the portions of octopus in the octopus salad were small so I was prepared for that but the salad that it came with was very fresh. My friend’s starter of chicken liver pate was more generous and looked pink and appetising. My main course of sea bass was well prepared and presented. Fortunately my friend’s choice of chicken came with six chunky potato chips and I was grateful for the three he shared with me which balanced the fish perfectly. A bit of a hurry with the dessert course which was a tasty tart and raspberry sorbet. All in all a satisfying and pleasant dinner and a lovely start to the evening. The cocktails we ordered did push the price of the bill up and arrived after the first course. Apart from my above comments no complaints at all the staff genuinely welcoming and friendly. Recommended."
