"Staff were very attentive. We were a party of 6 and all our meals arrived quickly and all together. Meals were nicely presented and the staff were able to tweak' a couple of them to suit the diner. "This is not the first time I have been to this restaurant and it certainly will not be the last. Amazing food, fantastic staff and a great atmosphere. From my parents in their 80’s to my 8 year old daughter, we were looked after, talked too and genuinely treated like one of the family. Kirsty and Jane are lovely ladies who work really hard here and are a real pleasure to see on our 6 weekly visits. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this wonderful eatery. "Just been for dinner here and it was superb! Seafood risotto for me and fish cakes for my partner both amazing! Ive actually never had such a great risotto I then had the crumble and custard which was massive and again anazing, my partner opted for the mini brownie and coffee but the brownie was a pretty decent size not really mini well worth the money, great food, great service and our new favourite eating spot"

"Receptionist Couldn’t fine our Open Table booking, but they had plenty of tables available so not a problem, but might have been had they been busy. We chose the Sunday roast beef. Cabbage was a little on the cool side. Beef was quite fatty and fairly tough, considering that it was 28 day aged. Roast potatoes were very good, as were the parsnips and carrots Soft drinks expensive small lemonade and lime £2.45) Overall value fair."

"They came a long way from few years ago when a wee waitress with big attitude argued with me that fish is a vegetarian option. Now they have a separate vegan menu and the dishes I've tried were pretty good (chickpea burger, side of aubergines, free cider when you subscribe to their newsletter, also vegan), the place itself is very scenic outside and cosy and atmospheric inside. I was told that there is a vegan staff member working in the kitchen which I always find reassuring."

"After booking online at 8:30am, the morning of the lunch (2:30pm) I received a booking confirmation of which I organised the family and met them at the pub. We arrived and there was no record of our booking and they were fully booked. We had a four year old and a month old baby as part of our party and waited over 20min in the bar area whilst the staff rather negatively/aggressively discussed if I was lying about the booking or not. Eventually they provided a table of six (a table had sat empty the whole time) and mentioned they had moved a few things round. Their excuse was the online booking system wasnt checked as they had been too busy to phone to say pub was full. I had travelled down from Sheffield for a special occasion and was happy nobody had told us. Lunch I can say was great but service wasn’t. Waited 15min to order our drinks and gave up after asking for he dessert menus after 20min of nobody attending our table. Ended up going to the local shop for dessert!"

"I encountered an issue when they couldn't find my reservation from OpenTable, but thankfully I had a printed copy of the confirmation with me. They did manage to seat us, so I recommend booking directly. It took an hour from our arrival to placing our order. The food was excellent, but the service was quite slow when the restaurant was busy. On the positive side, the staff was very polite and friendly. It's a nice place to enjoy a quiet meal."

"The Broughton Inn is a pleasant chain owned pub with traditional wood beam interior the type you would expect in a rural historic building that is over 150 years old. We visited for a pre Mothers Day meal with my parents and as they are in their eighties it was good to see that access was easy for them. One thing that they commented on was that parking was difficult as there were a lot of commercial vans taking up car parking space and they struggled to find somewhere to park. The food was very good and certainly good value for money. The waitress that served us was pleasant and attentive. The only criticism that we all agreed on was that the ambient music was a bit too loud. I am sure it didn't bother the other guests but for us it made conversational a little difficult as my parents are both a bit hard of hearing. That apart I would certainly recommend giving the Broughton Inn a visit."

"after a first disappointment in the march we decided to come back and give them another attempt. at our second visit was eating for all of us absolutely excellent. all meal piping hot well presented amd generously portioning. Eating was a good quality and exactly what they want from good honest meals in a stunning pub. the greetings and the service were absolutely brilliant and cannot be error-free. they are really interested in you. a warm welcome and attentive while. "Despite arriving 30 minutes early, we were seated immediately, and our drinks came out very quickly. I was impressed by the variety on the Sunday menu. We each ordered different roast dishes, and they were all outstanding. I tried the triple platter featuring beef, pork, and turkey. The vegetables were excellent too—at least three varieties among our group of five! The dessert selection was fantastic; I could have chosen at least three options. I ended up going with the apple and rhubarb crumble accompanied by hot custard to round off my meal. It was great value too, coming in at around £28 per person, which included two pints. And let's not forget the friendly and attentive staff!"

"We ate from the special lunch menu, the starters mushrooms was very nice, the mains ham, egg and chips just a small pointer but I wish the hot egg wasn’t served on cold ham, it turned the meat a bit grey and slimy, also the ham wasn’t the finest quality, I bought far better from the cold meat counter in Tescos the next day! The pudding Creme brûlée was delicious. We asked for tap water which came looking very cloudy, pity the tap wasn’t left running for longer! Overall though, a very cosy, nicely decorated pub and a friendly welcome"

"I visited the Calverley Arms for Sunday lunch with a friend. I've dined here several times before and noticed a noticeable improvement in the quality of the dishes this time. As usual for a Sunday, the restaurant was quite busy, so I recommend making a reservation. Our waitress was attentive and patient, and we both enjoyed a main course and dessert, along with two bottles of wine. The total bill came to just over £70. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff never made us feel rushed to leave, which is often the case in other places. I will definitely continue to return to the Calverley Arms."

"The Boat Inn is a lovely venue even on a cold wet December evening in the week before christmas and looked promising when we arrived at 7:30 pm the time I had chosen when making a booking through this web site the evening before. I was surprised that I needed to register my car but this process and the fact you need to do it was clear and straight forward. We were greated in a warm and friendly way and were expected, the place was busy but not packed, we had quite a small table where staff or other quests had to squeze past making it a bit uncomfortable especially when a biger table not in the throughfare remined empty through out our stay. It soon became apparent however that all was not well when other guests were asking where their meals or drinks were. We also had to remind the 2 serving staff that we had not received our drinks 20 minutes after placing the order. Our food did take quite a while to come, especialy the main course but apart from luke warm onion rings it was most enjoyable. This seems such a shame for such a great venue as when you look at comments on this web site from 12 months ago the problems appear to be the same even down to the cold onion rings ! I would go back to the Boat Inn especially in the summer but I would hope not to experiance the same problems again."

I would go back to the boat inn especially in the summer, but I would hope not to experience the same problems again."

"I have visited this restaurant many times and the food is always excellent. However, the service on Sunday was not up to par. Three of us ordered the Trio-Roast (Turkey, Beef) only to be told that the turkey was sold out (on Sunday at 3:30). We asked if we could have lamb or another substitute, but were told that the dish could not be modified and we were not allowed to have two meats or a replacement. Two of us ended up ordering beef, while I ordered the lamb. The portion of lamb compared to the beef was comically small, causing my friends to laugh at the difference in size. When we brought this to the attention of our waitress, she called the manager. The manager rudely asked us why we had called her over. She seemed disinterested in resolving the situation and did not make any effort to understand our concerns. In the end, we ate what we had and left feeling disappointed. The atmosphere and quality of food were great, but the service was lacking. If I had not had good experiences here in the past, I would not return after this incident."

"I and my family have been regularly in the hawes for many years and is a firm favorite of my Canadian family when they visit. five of us visited last night and we were all disappointed about the service that was painfully slow. we had to ask three times for our drinks. our eating took an old and two of our group had almost her head before the rest of us even had our meal before us. we decided that it will take too long to order desserts and some had baileys and I as a driver ordered a cappuccino. again, that was waiting long. my coffee was hardly warm, had no cappuccino frit and could not even melt a sugar cube. I was embarrassed that I had taken four friends to dinner, and each of us is very disappointed and extremely underwhelmed to say the least! a beautiful renovation of the spatial areas was removed from a bad, bad service. I would also like to add, there is not a pasta dish on the menu that I find a little incredible and I was told that I could not order a ceaser salat, as it was served only for lunch, so an salat was also not an option. very disappointed to say the least."

"The restaurant needs significant improvements. The roast dinners were warm, not hot, the roast potatoes were appalling, and the food lacked proper presentation. Meals were served in a strange order, with main courses coming before starters. One starter was offered an alternative sauce, but it arrived with no sauce at all. The customer service was poor, with two main meals never arriving despite others who arrived after us receiving their meals. When we finally asked for a refund for the missing meals, it took a long time for someone to figure out how to process it, and there was no apology or friendliness, just a cold attitude."
