"While the food and ambience is good, I was taken aback when after booking via OpenTable the waitress was not able to find my booking. Furthermore, she stated we don't use OpenTable and so this was not a valid booking, inspite of my showing the email confirmation and the booking on the app. Wasn't a nice start to an evening when I was taking guests over there, but the food and service thereafter was decent. Pricing is a bit high, but then it has made a name and so was packed even on a Thursday evening. Worth visiting. Perhaps book directly."

"Visited with two others on a Wednesday evening. The reservation was made quickly and easily a few days earlier via the Spice MerchantOpen Table websites.We were offered a table by one of the front windows, which we happily accepted. From this location, I noted a number of people calling for preordered takeaway meals, which was a good sign that the food is popular with local residents.Service was exceptional, from the moment we arrived to the time we eventually left. Our waiter was extremely polite and attentive, yet not obtrusive. We met the Manager, who was really friendly, very helpful when it came to choosing our food and came over at the end of our meal to offer a very kind and generous "thank you".The wine list was extensive; we ordered one bottle of red and one white. My companions were very pleased by their selections, which complemented the food perfectly. I had a bottle of Cobra beer I initially ordered the nonalcoholic variety, but that was outofstock, so I had a "normal" Cobra and limited my intake of wine I was driving.We were there for the food the menus we had perused online were extensive and this did not disappoint! Portions were good and the flavour, texture and presentation was outstanding! This restaurant must have the best Indian chefs in Berkshire.The bill was reasonable, considering what we ordered and the fact this business serves an affluent area. One of my friends was so pleased by the food and service that so booked her birthday meal there for the following month! The Manager was most accommodating regarding her wishes and we are looking forward to returning just after Christmas for another excellent evening.Well done to all the staff at Spice Merchant, Cookham you deserve awards for producing "Michelin Award" worthy food and looking after your guests so well"

"The best fine dining restaurant in Crawley. They really take pride in cooking up some delicious and unique Indian food you’ll only find at Zari. This makes them a strong contender for the possibly the best Indian cuisine in West Sussex. "very nice restaurant. love the interiors. beautiful looking place with a bar. and apparently they soon open a Sheesha lounge and look forward to it! had a great experience here. Eat: we started with Indian ingwer and Masala tea, which was really good, and pappadum. for the main course we ordered chicken tikka masala and a fried rice, dhaba chicken and pilaureis and Karahi sprout with plain naan. I must say we were not disappointed by any of the dishes. the food was delicious and portioned enough to fill it completely. price: a little expensive, too little for us students, but I would say it worth it. service: the staff is very polite and beautiful! very happy with the service. definitely recommend this place to anyone who loves or wants to try good Indian food!"

"We went for a family meal to celebrate a special event. We have eaten here several times before and were always impressed with the quality of the food. On this occasion we were eating late in the evening due to other commitments. Some of the food was disappointing. I ordered the lamb tikka biryani. When it arrived, it was clearly chicken not lamb! The rice was very dry and it came with a spicy sauce rather than a vegetable curry. I ate about a third of it. One of the other meals was not particularly inspiring and did not match the promised description. The service was very good, although we did feel the staff were waiting for us to finish as we were the last customers there. In all, we have been a little put off returning to what was one of our favourite places to eat and I am not sure we could recommend it to others despite having done so in the past."

"I had read and heard good things about Mahda. I was not disappointed. The menu offered a wide variety of dishes, all of which sounded so tasty that it made the choice very difficult. I have never come across such a varied Indian menu, with both northern and southern dishes on offer. I chose a Keralan chicken stew with vegetables which was outstanding. And I'm 57 and have been to many, many Indian restaurants. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The whole experience was wonderful. Go!"

"A group of friends and I visited Glasgow and stumbled upon this charming restaurant. I was impressed by the beautiful paintings on the walls that brought back childhood memories. However, the food was a letdown. We ordered fish pakora and chili chicken, but the presentation of the chili chicken was unconventional and not to our liking. The taste was also disappointing. The Gol Goppa was a standout dish. The chicken Chettinadu and prawn korma were okay, but lacked authenticity. The biryani was overly buttery, overshadowing the spices and fragrance. The naan was the highlight of the meal. The staff was polite and the service was efficient. Overall, this restaurant may not be suitable for those seeking authentic Indian cuisine."

"I have been a fan of this restaurant for over a decade since I first discovered it. Located in the heart of London, it is easy to find and close to our hotel. The area feels safe even at night, with many pubs and people around. The restaurant has a street-level dining area for those with mobility issues, as well as a smaller back room and a downstairs area for larger groups. The food is top-notch and reasonably priced for central London. The staff have always been friendly and accommodating, which is why we always choose to dine here when in London for the night."

"We placed an order for delivery through Just Eat at 5:45, with an estimated arrival time of 7:30. We waited until 8:00, then called multiple times to inquire about our order, only to be given misleading information. Frustrated by 9:00, we decided to pick up the order ourselves. As we were on our way, we received a notification from our ring doorbell that the food had arrived at 9:20. Upon arrival at the restaurant, we encountered chaos, with no apology for the delay. A family member was practicing football, staff were openly discussing not answering the phone, and a driver mentioned his car's clutch had failed. Another upset customer also came in for their missing order. Despite the food being good once we arrived home, the lack of professionalism and poor service left much to be desired. I advise others not to order delivery from this establishment, as our planned evening was disrupted by this disappointing experience."

"Dinner for 2. Return visit as I had been previously during the Eat out promotion with a friend and food had been excellent. Food was still very good although we thought the mixed vegetable platter starter was a bit greasy. Staff were very good and we had a nice evening. "We went to celebrate my daughter getting new job and took her here for her first visit and she really enjoyed it. We both had our usually lamb Rogan josh which is must have for me and my wife has the chicken makahani so that left my daughter who went with the chicken tikka masala and all three were great dishes. "I have to start by saying how the staff are always smiling. They 're friendly and have some great recommendations. Moving onto the food, we ordered the chaat platter, chilli paneer and prawns from the tandoor clay oven. I was disappointed by the paani Puri it lacked the tang and explosion of taste you expect, instead it had a very bland and lacked flavour. However the rest of the items on the platter were absolutely fabulous!! Fresh, crunchy, tangy, tasty, flavourful. Everything you expect from a chaat platter. I could have ordered another 2 (without the paani Puri) The chilli paneer was one of the best I 've had! The tandoor clay oven prawns were perfectly cooked and had the right amount of 'tandoor ' taste however the marinate flavour was lacking. Mains veg Kolhapuri.... Oh my gosh!!!! No words can describe how amazing this was and how is it was possible to make veg taste like it did!!! It was absolutely divine!!! We ate it with garlic naan, that too was fab.. it was rolled to the right thinness and had the absolute perfect amount of garlic and butter!! An absolute treat. I should mention as we ate others sat around us on other tables just couldn 't stop complementing the foods they had ordered! So I 'm definitely going back to taste the other items! Desserts gulab jamun and pistachio kulfi ... At first glance the gulab jaman looked lost in the bowl it was presented in, the syrup was way too thin and the 2 balls were too small. However, the taste.... I don 't think I 've had better. Some improvement required in the presentation and with the syrup .. but the taste 5 5 .. amazing! The pistachio kulfi I expect frozen... But ... We couldn 't dig in... Waited almost 25 30mins for it to soften ... Once it did once again the taste was everything you expect... Another 5 5. However does require some thinking to ensure the customer doesn 't leave with a brain freeze instead of the flavoursome taste. We enjoyed multiple drinks including mango lassi, lemonade and mint tea all of which were fab.. even the mango lassi was the perfect consistency however it comes with ice which when melted affects the taste of the lassi (server should ask if the customer would like or not I wasn 't given an option) I 'm going back!! And I definitely recommend!!"
