"I met one night after work a friend. we're always here when we were working around the corner. After we were not so many years, we were looking forward to a little nostalgia, but were bitterly disappointed from the beginning to the end. it took at least 15 minutes to get someone's attention just to order a drink. we ordered a side of the artisan brot and butter for the table, which is as slightly roasted cut brot, without explanation. After I had waited five minutes without luck to get someone's attention, I went to our waiter to ask why we were dead instead of the advertised brot. then I was told that they were called from the artisan bread. When I asked if we could have normal brot (instead of roasted, I was told that the toast on our table was the last thing they had! the main course, it must be said, was delicious! bangers and mash a classic! to dessert! we shared a treacle tart with clotted cream. the amount of cream that was presented was a sweat! a teaspoon full. my friend asked about the part of the cream and asked if we could have a little more. he wanted to investigate. he came back about 10 minutes later with 2 bowls of cocose cream! we then learned that the cream was already served was only double cream and not the advertised dorset clotted cream as they had run out of this and had now fled from the standard double cream! it seemed that the kitchen simply did not have their waiters from what was served or what was available to order. they also seemed so sad to be among servants, to this occasion I must give a negative review. I will still go back to our other favorite wine bars from davy, namely the becher house in london bridge, davy’s at st james and the crusting pipe in covent garden. we have not been completely discontinued :"

"The island was open from 12 noon and our table was reserved for 12.15 pm as we planned to do something else later in the afternoon. However, the food was only just being set out and cooked, so was not ready until well after 12.30 pm. As it happened, this did not matter as our plans changed for the afternoon and so we could relax and spend the afternoon on Ravens Ait watching the world go by. The staff were nice but harried to start with in getting everything ready. Some didn't seem to know what the arrangement regarding the food was, eg whether tea/coffee was included or an extra charge. The food was generally good, but the hot containers did a poor job of keeping the food hot, and we were amongst the first to be served, so not sure how I would have liked eating later and getting a colder meal. The gluten free loaf of bread was a poor relation, gluten free rolls would have been a better option. I was told that gluten free rolls were taken by non g/f customers so that was why they did not have them. rather a lame reason to have a cheap alternative I felt. Also, the variety of cold salads was nothing special, being gluten free, a rice salad should have been included, not just the pasta, and I think there was a couscous but it is not gluten free. Overall, more imagination is required to make this a better eating experience, but of course the location will always attract customers."

"I attended a baby shower here which included afternoon tea, I want to start with some positives the building is beautiful and is decorated lovely, very instagrammable the patisserie cakes look really pretty! But we experienced quite a few negatives during our time here, we were changed last minute from their other cafe to this one, the room was small and as a group of 24 we were very crammed in. The staff weren't overly great on the customer service front slightly rude in how they addressed customers, but i can understand that they were under pressure on this particular day with our group and other customers, definitely over booked and took on more than they could successfully manage. We also were not allowed in to set up ready for guests to arrive and were told to wait outside until our allotted time. Staff very much made their problems our problems with staff flapping and making comments but not actually doing anything, which led members of our group to clear tables and also remove 3 tables which we were actually using, as staff required them for another group booking... It was all very odd. There had not been a get out time communicated to us prior to our booking and we were very much made to feel that we were unwanted after a certain time. On the food front the sandwiches were stale from being made a lengthy time before our afternoon tea the scones were undercooked. Staff were also not attentive with repeat drinks orders, so actually lost out on custom in this respect. To end on a positive note though staff were apologetic regarding our experience, gave us free prosecco and took money off our bill so i can not fault this. Maybe a one off experience for us but i probably wouldn't recommend or go back, but others may have a totally different experience."
