"Had a lovely meal here a few months back, so decided to return, but unfortunately the visit was disappointing. We received a nice warm welcome. Had a seat in the bar, which I wouldn't choose, but it was ok. The staff are friendly, very young, but service was sooooo slow! We ordered our starter, which was only bread and olives and it took over half an hour to come. Our mains then arrived while the empty starter plates were still on the table. Had fish and chips fish was nice, but very greasy and chips were huge, tasteless and underdone. Dessert (when it finally came) was rhubarb crumble, which was ok, came with a lovely creme anglais. Won't be rushing to return unfortunately."

"Whilst I’m sure the food is nice, I didn’t get as far as trying it. My first and only experience was when I popped in to ask about Christmas lunches. Having just had this Christmas, I was naturally thinking ahead to our plans next year looking into one of their take away dinners, as a way of making our Christmas day run a bit smoother. I’m not quite sure what made the chef (owner? quite so cross. I could hear him loudly telling the waitress (to pass on to me : “I ain’t even thinking about Christmas. Don’t know if we’re even doing it again but I ain’t talking about it”. Loudly saying this, when I was stood right there yet not making eye contact with me. It made me feel so small and stupid for asking about it. I came away feeling like I never want to eat there, don’t want to recommend it and that the customer service is somewhat lacking. Make people feel like valued customers, it’s so easy. If you’re cross with your potential customers for even enquiring before they’ve experienced your food, something isn’t right. I was just asking a question about a service the cafe offers. I’ve since read through some Google reviews, the worst rated all complain about the owner being aggressive/ rude… Edited after owner’s response: You’re right, how dare I pop in when I was passing (I’m not often in the area! and when you had customers. Wishing you your woeful customer service a prosperous year."

"Service was great especially as the restaurant was very busy. The staff were attentive and helpful however with regards to my steak I was not impressed at all. Two of us ordered the Sirloin steak which wasn't cheap so I was expecting a nice tender steak but mine had a serious amount of gristle which was obviously left on my plate and even the waiter noticed this and asked if everything was ok which obviously I said not really, also although the steak was tasty it was pretty chewy again not something you expect from a 30 day aged steak. It comes with fries which were very nice but no salad just an inch square dollop of cress of some kind, surely a small salad wouldn’t go a miss with the price of this meal? Wish I had taken a photo of this meal so show that this review is a fair comment and not exaggerated. Can’t fault the staff and it was only my meal that was very disappointing ."

"We had an absolutely fantastic experience at this pub! We visited with some friends yesterday for food and drinks. The pub is charming and tucked away, but we didn't mind at all. It's a true local gem! We live nearby and had never even noticed it before, despite driving around the area several times. The pub wasn't crowded, which was great because we had the dining area all to ourselves for a nice catch-up. The food was outstanding, everyone loved their meals. The brownie for dessert was unbelievably gooey and delicious. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. We will definitely be returning! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. And the fire was so cozy, we didn't want to leave!"

"Feb. 2022. This now well established and popular venue, continues to produce provender of the highest quality. I have been attending the establishment for many years now and it remains one of my favourite restaurants. This night the lamb shank Agnello Brasato was a melt in the mouth shoulder of lamb on a generous bed of mash pototo, brocoli and heritage' carrots. The cheesecake Torta di Formagi came with a topping of tart blackberries, a good foil to the cheese. And of course, the Sanglovese Rubicone, to wash it all down with. Probably the most agreeable house red' in any Italian restaurant. December 21 The panic (of them leaving) is over, but the pandemic remains. The spaghetti bolognese, mixed up like it should be, is beyond reproach and the Fragola e Lampone dessert, comes out better with every presentation. GOOD NEWS BAD NEWS. Aug 2019 Having eaten here often and always finding both the service and the food up to expectation, both waifu and I agreed to visit this establishment for our (whatever-it-was) th anniversary. Booking in advance and mentioning the occasion, the staff had placed roses on our table and we were treated to a complimentary aperitif. The food (taken from the lunch menu) met expectations as did the house red, a modest but pleasing Sangiovese Rubicone 2018, which washed down the meal very well. The day was cold, but the sun shone through the windows, the staff were attentive and amiable and all made the lunch experience most agreeable. That's the GOOD news. The BAD news, is they are leaving. Avaricious land-lords demands have induced a going concern to take their business elsewhere. So, dear reader, if you wish to experience this excellent establishment or wish to do so again, get a wiggle on they will be gone beginning in July. Moving to Winford apparently but more of this later."
