"Every time I visit, I always order the Razor clams at Saltwater Fish Company. However, this time, I was disappointed to find that the clams were not properly cleaned as I could taste grit and sand. Additionally, they were overcooked, resulting in a rubbery texture that ruined the overall taste. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Saltwater Fish Company this time."

"when a restaurant advertises that they make their own brot, smoke their own fish and metzger their own meat, I enter with great expectations. If a restaurant has a beautiful view, I tend to lower my expectations to the food quality, as it seems to be an unwritten rule that says, the better the view, the more moderate the eating is. wyatt jones breaks this really happy – there is nothing mediocre about their food, its quality radiated. first we had made a few of their beautiful home brot – I would recommend the walnut and cranberry, but not too much and pamper their appetit for the rest of the meal. my companion then ordered beef trees with senfmaic and kale, it was...read more"

"pleasantly surprised how amazing the food was! it was our first trip to the clubhouse yesterday after reading the great reviews, and I must say we had the best burgers in the city! the host is very humble and so a nice guy, we didn't know that we had to inform him in advance for iftar orders, so we only showed up 20 minutes before iftar, but he took our orders graciously and made delicious food for us and it was banging on time. this place will now be a regular favorite of us."

"Waiting at the door for 5 minutes before being acknowledged with a ‘what’s the name for the table’ to then be seated in a table in the middle of the room which would have been fine if the initial introduction wasn’t so rude. We were then told someone would be over but we waited a further 15 minutes before anyone touched our table. The nice server took a drinks order, came back and then took a food order. This seemed fine until we saw every other table in the venue being shown the cuts of meat. On top of this, every other table sat after us also got offered for their jackets to be hung up we did not. We had ordered bread which was very messy, when our mains arrived there was no conversation from any server, they awkwardly placed the food down around our breads plates and then removed the bread plates. One server topped our wine up but we were never asked if the meal was enjoyable or if anything was wrong. We finished on Irish coffee's which were nothing short of a lukewarm double shot whiskey with cream added. Although staff were nice, they were not attentive."

"Oh dear, this didn 't go well at all. I had high expectations given the previous reviews. I used to eat here but hadn 't been for years due to changes in ownership. Our starters were pleasant (I had cheese chunks and only had 2, which was a little disappointing, whilst my friend had fried shrimp and had about 6). Her main was the duck breast, and I had steak. This was when it started to go wrong! The food was lukewarm (tepid, even). I didn 't feel inclined to complain as it just lovely to be out with my friend. When I enquired about her duck, she said it was a very strange texture, so I tried it ... it was like eating mushy pate. It had no substance or solidity at all. At this point I had been eating around the outside of my steak, saving the middle bit as this is my favourite. Unfortunately, when I got to it, I found that it, too, was mushy. The waitress had told us when I ordered medium rare that it was not available as the steak was put in a water bath beforehand to make it tender and so medium was the only option. I believe that she was referring to sous vide , and when meat is overcooked by this method, it does become mushy. The waiter did relay our comments to the chef, and we did find that the charges for the meat had been removed from the bill. We still paid for our two potato side dishes which we hadn 't eaten because there hadn 't been anything to accompany them, but never mind. We tried to order coffee the waiter didn 't know if they served decaf (turns out they do). I asked for a floater coffee but he didn 't know what that was so I said that if they didn 't do floater coffee, I would just have a coffee with cream. He came back to say that they don 't have cream. I asked for Earl Grey tea, which they do have. I was then served Breakfast tea. They did then change it for Earl Grey. In the end, my friend and I had an enjoyable evening out, and laughed at the events of the evening. But, to be honest, I think it is highly unlikely we will go back because part of the pleasure of a meal out is to actually eat and enjoy the food, which didn 't happen on this occasion."

"After reading the reviews, we had high expectations for our visit to Mad Dogs on a Thursday evening. However, the restaurant was surprisingly quiet, and the waitress directed us to the bar area, where we found bench-style seating. We started with poppers and mozzarella sticks, both of which were generously portioned and delicious. For our main course, we ordered ribs, but unfortunately, they were too dry and not something we would recommend. The overall atmosphere felt a bit lackluster, and the decor was quite plain."

"Nice food (except the coffee which was awful), but the service was off, with oddities like dumping a drink down in front of the wrong person even after being told it wasn't theirs, and it taking repeated attempts to get them to clarify what the drink actually was so we could get it to the right person. Additionally, the waiter suggested that we'd got the maths on splitting the bill wrong (we hadn't) in a way that came across as quite rude, for no apparent reason. I felt quite bad for suggesting the venue to my friends to be honest, and I doubt I'll be going back."

"One of the best rib eye steaks I have ever had. I had it medium and just melted in your mouth. Taste was first class and accompaniments of mushrooms, onion rings and double cooked chips were all cooked perfectly. It wasn’t that busy when we were there admittedly but the service was very attentive and food was cooked and served quickly. Will definitely be looking to go back again. Service: Dine in"

"I visited this restaurant on February 25, 2022, based on my wife's recommendations. The staff were wonderful and managed to accommodate us just minutes before their kitchen was closing. I ordered the Welsh dry-aged ribeye, which was cooked to perfection, while my wife had the spigoli al forno (roasted fish). We both enjoyed our meals immensely. The atmosphere was amazing, though I did notice that the nearby parking spots were often full. However, there's an additional parking area just a five-minute walk away. Overall, it was a fantastic dining experience!"

"Came here for lunch with my husband and two small children (2 under 2) and the staff could not have been more helpful or accommodating. I tried a wine that I was not keen on and the sommelier went out of her way to bring me two other wines which she thought I would like after asking my taste. Food was lovely as always. Will be returning."

"These guys do steaks like a pro. Incredible dining for a special occasion. Decadence is the order of the day but in staple, urban surroundings. It's the food and wine that are the stars of this show. Staff are friendly, fabulous, passionate and knowledgable foodies. Oysters on ice with Tabasco wow. Love these little guys. Salt pepper squid tasty. Very tasty. Cooked to perfection and not a blemish beyond. Chateaubriand Yummmmmm! Beautifully pink in the middle. Charred around the outsides. Coupled with a fresh tomato salad and beautifully chubby chips. Brownie with salted caramel icecream fabulous! I could barely manage the mellow blue cheese that followed. This dinner rocked. Nice work Chophouse."

"The girl behind the bar was very rude. As soon as we arrived she asked what name the table was booked under and repeated it back incorrectly. She then asked what we would like to drink. My partner asked for a becks, which was served in a bierra moretti glass. I asked for a house white wine was told they didn’t have a house white. She then reeled off eight names of wine, all white. I said I’d have a Sauvignon to which she said ‘New Zealand or French?’ She then served me a New Zealand white in a red wine glass! I was also under the impression they do Sunday roast as shown on their website from 12 midday with no end time was very disappointed when there was no roast on the menu. The waitress we ordered food from was very nice and polite. My partner asked for Cromer crab after ordering it thought about how he was going to de shell it. He immediately asked a different waitress if they could de shell it for him thinking if they couldn’t he would order something else. She didn’t come back with an answer so he had to ask again!! I have no complaints about the food. The food was very nice. The chef also did a good job of serving the crab as requested. When we finished our food we went downstairs to pay the bill the rude waitress slammed some glasses on the bar right in front of us. We just paid the bill and went."

"Booked an early 6.30pm dinner for a special occasion. Restaurant was busy and as we were early we waited in the bar. Bar staff and waiting staff were all efficient and very pleasant. However the food was inconsistent. Caesar salad, sides of spinach, mash and macaroni cheese were excellent. The problem was the steaks. Filet and rib eye steaks lacked any real flavour and were dry and over salted. I have had much better Hawksmoor steaks from Ocado's. We ordered a dessert but the waiter came back to say it had run out. On arrival I had left my jacket and scarf with the friendly cloakroom attendant and on leaving I asked a different attendant for my jacket and scarf but was only given my jacket back. I advised my scarf was missing and the attendant said there was no scarf and asked was I sure I had left a scarf. I described the scarf and the attendant went to check and did return with it but it would of been preferable if I had been asked to describe the scarf before being asked if I was sure I had left it."

"3 of us ate a meal here and within an hour of leaving we had the most terrible upset stomachs. I had a 40 minute drive home and I very nearly didn't make it without pulling over. I spoke to the manager the following day and she said she would investgat. She rang a few days later and reassured me the food was all fresh. I assured her that the food did taste good but it did not explain how 3 of us who all live in different households all suffered within an hour of leaving the restaurant. The bill was £150 and my sons had treated me. The manager sent my son a voucher for £30. Thanks...... Oh they never replied to this poor review... I would have!!! Thanks for reply. I didn't make a mistake. No need to contact you. The booking details were: 25th November 2021 at 5pm. Booking Ref: BPWHY7FL"

"Booked a table for today 24th June at 2.15pm my friend arrived first and was seated at the entrance to annex at the back next to the entrance worst seat in the place.we ordered chateaubriand and it arrived cut thickly and uncutable the sauces arrived identical even though they insisted they were different what a disappointment left without eating we weren’t charged but it’s unacceptable they charge £72 for this and it comes as tough as old boots and your sitting in the worst table in the restaurant won’t be back."

"The reason this isn't one star is Shona the waitress who deserves better than this graveyard of a restaurant. Food was absolutely the lowest quality stuff I've ever encountered. We ordered steaks that were fatty, tough and terribly cooked (not seasoned, cooked at too low a temperature) the ploughman's sharer is basically stuff from Tesco's warmed up and served with the cheapest sort of bread. We'd have brought it up but frankly it's clear your chef can't do better so what's the point. Oh, we ordered pulled pork that wasn't. I suspect it was leftovers. Not sure the chef knows what pulled pork is. Another thing while we're at it, the other guy who bought our wine didn't even bother to open it. The place had four tables on a Saturday night, and one of them was complaining about the food to the staff all night. Maybe the reason this is the emptiest restaurant in Lichfield is because it has an old fashioned menu and quality that would shame a Wetherspoons. Will never return ."

"We visited the Lantern restaurant on a Saturday night a couple of weeks ago and had a fantastic meal and wonderful experience. We loved the original decor the Lantern boasts and we found out that it has been in the same family for nearly 60 years! The way in which guests are welcomed and the pride and care taken in the food served, you can really tell it's a family run establishment. For our meal, we opted to start with the calamari and garlic mushrooms. Both of these were delicious, but we loved the mushrooms so much we had to order another portion! We then had a Porterhouse steak each, which were cooked to perfection. Alongside these we ordered the fries, onion rings and pepper sauce, which for us, were the ideal accompaniments. After these first two courses we were too full to try any of the desserts, but we imagine the options are just as tasty as everything else on the menu. Despite it being a very busy night, we couldn't fault the service we received. The servers were very attentive and ensured we were well looked after all evening they really made us feel at home. We can't recommend the Lantern enough. Everyone should experience this hidden gem at least once. We'll certainly be back when we're next in the area!"
