"If you’re a London foodie, the name Hawksmoor is likely to be familiar to you. Regarded by many as the best steak restaurant in London, there are now five branches in the capital and one in Manchester – a homage to the popularity of the brand. The concept has grown a long way since friends Huw Gott and Will Beckett opened the first Hawksmoor in Spitalfields in 2006 with the straight forward attitude of providing excellent produce cooked well.I’ve mentioned before that it’s not always easy to find a restaurant to please all my family members but I knew that Hawksmoor would fit the bill and having eaten before at their Air Street branch (pre-blog) I was keen to try the latest outpost in the one of London’s most fashionable areas; Knightsbridge. Hawksmoor Knightsbridge is located in a subterranean cavern on Yeoman’s Row just off Brompton Road. I recognised the venue as soon as we arrived, it used to be Frankie’s – a garishly glitzy New York-style dining room that was a collaboration between Marco Pierre White and jockey Frankie Detorri. But the mirror balls and tacky checked table clothes have all been cleared out to make way for clean lines, bright lighting, charcoal grey banquettes and a semi open kitchen. I had no doubt already that food was also much improved from the days that 3 Yeoman’s Row housed Frankie’s.When Mr S and I arrived Susan SilverSpoon and Dr SilverSpoon were already there, perusing the menu and looking hungry! I quickly gave my dad his birthday gift so we could order our food promptly.I chose a raw sea bass to starter, perfectly prepared and beautifully finished with chilli and ginger. I love raw ginger and plenty of it, though this isn’t one for you if you don’t like the slightly pungent taste of the spice. I also dived in (not literally) to Mr S’s steaming pot of mussels and was pleased to see big, fat sea food in a delicious light wine sauce, enhanced with bay leaves and chilli. It was a pretty, light beetroot and goats cheese salad for my mum."

"tastefully ordered. good acoustics. most of our foods were exquisite. the personal was efficient and knowledgeable about the foods./ tuna tartar was beautiful with its pink and green thema. coarsely minced thunfisch and avocado in a yuzu wasabi dressing. some may consider it a bit salty, but not for my taste. perfect temperature, not served too cold. pretty garnishes of thin cut, slightly pickled gurken and radishes. some scarves of deep roasted rice paper, sprinkled with beet-root powder, added crunch and color./Lachs-Sushi-Burger were two small cakes of compressed deep roasted rice, which formed a bungalow. in between was a good puppet player of tasty salmon star. new, but beautiful. served with a selection of pickles. müll, beet, radishes and cucumber.Aubergine in miso was beautiful. Firm bites of peeled aubergine dripping with a sweet mists sauce and scattered with mandelflakes roasted to a quite aggressive shade of brown. the slightly bitter edge was a beautiful contrast to the sweet of the sauce. another fine balance of aromen and textures./ the only dish that was not great was the tempura soba. I prefer this dish served with the tempura on the side to dip into the broth and noodles. I would recommend ordering it that way. No matter how brilliant the tempura is when it sits on a bowl of suppe, the texture is finally soggy and incessant. large selection of luxury birds in tempoura. fine haricot vert, spargel, enoki mushrooms and sweet potato. vegetarian consisted of kombu, mirin and soy was a little boring. I would have preferred a classic dashi with Bonito flakes, but that would not have made the court vegetarian./ I will be back in any case, but will give the suppening a misunderstanding as our server told us that they are all made with the same vegetarian broth."

"it's not my favorite atmosphere. music is quite loud, and the acoustic is uncompromising due to a lot of hard surfaces (stone on the walls, polished concrete and mosaic tile on the floor.) better suited for lunch, or a rough night with colleagues than an evening dinner date. but it was really good to eat. for the meat we had portions from the thin liquid piece menu. I had a black and a lamb cut. my companion had sirloin steak and the lamb T bone. all well carved on a very hot wood charcoal grill. they do not ask how they want to do their flesh, and lamb and bark are rarely served what suits me. if they are squealous about it (like my companion) they should indicate that they want the meat made medium. we had the green sauce that was similar to a chimchurri or salsa verde. the nice sides were all excellent. fantastic bark drops chips. incredibly crispy on the outside and tasty inside. large dive in Chili-Hollandaise, which was more like a very rich chili-chomo (not warm as a real hollandaise.) the chips were so great that we asked for a second order. the other veggies were grilled courgette, chicory with stylton as well as grilled baby precious stones with screw drops. definitiw a thema of vegetables with olive oil doused, cut edges over hot coals darkened and then sprinkled with a little salty. a good idea, and I will try both dishes at home on the grill pan. the house red at £23 for a 700 ml carafe was an excellent tempranillo. a real cut over most house wines. wein was on the house because I booked with the softlaunchfail offer for subscribers in their mailing list that did not manage to get a table during the reduced soft start. our price-performance fee with service was £38."

"really really bad experience with this place! I ordered a simple order of 4 items, it took 50 ,ins to arrival, fair enough, but then I had 1 item missing and another item which was completely wrong. so I call them up and explain and they...have no clue, so takes 10 ,ins to explain to 1st staff which he tries to tell me he is going to send me my correct order for free .... excuse me it's not free I already paid for it and didn't get it!!! then then I ask how long it will now take to get my new items ... he doesn't know has to speak to someone else about it... staff 2 comes on phone and again I have to explain myself again and then wait for him to pull up my order for him to check what I am saying is true..... so then I ask if as a gesture to a unhappy customer if they will refund me my 2 items I never got and now have to wait another 40 mins to get ..... while my other food is getting cold .... answer to my request for refund was ,, arh as you paid online we can't refund you, you already paid...... nothing we can do!!!!! kept trying to tell me that I am getting my money worth because hey we're sending out my food again.... the ones that was missing in first place... !! kept trying to offer me more other food for free... which I had to repeat my self over 10 times, I did not want other food, just the correct ones I ordered...! managed did not want to talk to to on phone, because he didn't want to give me any money back to correct their mistake and keep good customer service, which is something they REALLY do not have. DO NOT USE THIS PLACE!!! you run the risk of paying for food you get get to eat and wait almost 2 hrs....."
