"At our table, we noticed that the adjacent table received STK's signature bread right away, while we hadn’t even been offered any. After ordering drinks, we waited about 10 minutes before our waiter came over to ask how everything was. My husband mentioned that we were still waiting for our drinks, which arrived shortly after he asked. We ordered our meals, and my husband chose the calamari starter, which was impressively large. We both opted for steaks. As we were enjoying our conversation, another couple seated nearby received their bread and dip almost immediately. This made me wonder if we had been forgotten, so I asked a staff member if we had missed out on something.... we were indeed overlooked, but thankfully the bread came shortly after. Once our food was finally ready, it was delivered by a different waiter (a runner) to a table next to us and just left there instead of being brought to us. After a while, we managed to get another waiter’s attention to bring our food over. When our meals did arrive, they were quite nice. The asparagus was good, and the truffle fries were delightful—hard to go wrong with deep-fried fries, really. After finishing our meals, we had empty plates in front of us for about 20 minutes. I wanted to order a warm cookie, but at that point, I had lost interest in what was meant to be a special meal, and we just wanted to return to our suite. When we finally asked for the bill, it seemed they were aware we weren't completely satisfied. The bill was £140 after a discount (I had opted out of the optional service fee of £17.50), but we were actually charged £152. I didn't bother to argue about it. For a restaurant that prides itself on its service, we expected much better."

"There is just something so satisfying about a quality steak that can't be replicated or replaced by anything else. The thought of looking at a plate while a massive slab of meat stares back is a sight that sends shivers down my primal spine. But it is a risky game; get a bad steak and you'll be regretting your decision till the cows come home. So where does one turn when in need of a steak fix? For me, the search always starts at Hawksmoor. Numbering 6 strong across the UK (with 5 being in London), Hawksmoor is committed to showcasing the best beef Britain has to offer and is uncompromising in that pursuit. Hawksmoor doesn't take shortcuts and the evidence is in the product. Sending me off on my steak odyssey was a starter of fillet steak tartare which was a delight. Fresh and tender mince was combined with capers, gherkin and an egg yolk to produce a pure taste which was incredible. Understandably, tartare may not be everyone's bag but if it is, this is a must. Onto the main event and as a raw beef lover it was the rump steak for me, which at £18 for 400g of protein represented insane value especially considering the quality of the meat and preparation. Dare I say it, it was one of the best steaks I've had in my lifetime; so soft and tender, the beef cooked to utter perfection with a respect to the natural flavours of the beef which shone through. For those with a more refined taste though, a selection of cuts is available from sirloin to ribeye to fillet however don't forgot to check the blackboard of special cuts of the day which for those with a real appetite to satisfy. But a steak alone does not make a meal and at Hawksmoor, this is understood as sides of triple cooked chips and smoked bone marrow more than hold their own. The mac and cheese however, is something flat entirely and to call it a side almost seems to be disrespectful but such is the quality of the beef that it is stuck on the bench. But to miss this would be a crime. Struggling to stand, our meal at Hawksmoor stopped here but what a meal it was. If you love steak, this is your holy ground. Come hungry. "The problem with having an eponymous restaurant Mr. Ramsey is that when your staff mistreats its customers, it reflects poorly on you. The horrible service would have been comical had we not been celebrating a birthday and career accomplishment. The waiter rudely chastised us for not listening when he asked who wanted sparkling water and who wanted still, seemingly having complete amnesia from our order just 5 mins earlier. When we casually shuffled the waters to the right person, he offered, unsolicited, it is not my fault you received the wrong waters, you weren 't listening. Our jaws hit the table. Later, we attempted to smooth over Watergate by explaining that we could not hear him in the loud restaurant (he seemed to only mouth his words instead of vocalize them). He responded you can 't expect me to raise my voice. Why yes, that 's exactly what we expected. We ordered burgers (two medium rare and one medium well) and fish and chips. After we said medium rare, he seemed to mouth the words medium well but we couldn 't actually hear him, he was still mouthing words and our lip reading skills were not up to task. Oddly, our food arrived less than a minute after we placed our order and when we inquired of the food runner which were medium rare, he responded, with condescension that they were all medium well and the restaurant was not licensed to serve meat any other way. What a surprise. The bottoms of the buns were complet lt soggy, indicating that they had been prepared long before we ordered them. Had it just been bad food, we might not have sworn off future visits to your restaurants. However, the fact that the staff felt unapologetically entitled to berate us is something that we can 't get past. That behavior comes from the top. Badly done Mr. Ramsey. Badly done indeed."
