"Sunday lunch for 3 people probably the best Sunday lunch I've had in a long time. The choice of the different courses were great and the beef was cooked really well. The portion size was really good especially for the prices. You can have other options and not the Sunday dinner. The desserts menu has a great choice also. Received a warm welcome on arrival and was able to order drinks before going into the restaurant area. Overall, I would highly recommend it because of how fresh and tasty the food was and also how reasonably priced it was. The staff were also on point and provided a warm and welcoming service. Would arrive early to get a parking space as there are limited spaces."

"we have heard good reviews, especially about the flourishing wobbles that the people recommended. we had this and the potato skins for the starter. was delicious, but the potato skins were a bit hard, but ate as they were delicious. we were at the end of the meal, when we realized that all the other tables that sit, broth for the table we did not give and were not offered. I ordered parmo (which was huge, good value for money), but the salat I had ordered with him was not up at all. my man ordered the steak pie, which was amazing, the steak was delicious and very delicate, but when he asked that some gravitation go with the maische and veg it took a while to come, he finished the vege and some of the maische before it appeared. eating was really good, no complaining at all and really good value, just forgetting a little, would spend only for the service. very romantic pub though and cerzen on every table, eating was nice and would go back."

"The food at this restaurant is excellent. It is clearly prepared by a skilled chef who knows what they are doing, rather than just reheating frozen dishes. Three of us ordered the black pudding and haggis stack, while one had the rarebit. All of the dishes were fantastic and absolutely delicious. We all agreed that our main courses were fantastic and were impressed by the fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables served with them (cabbage, broccoli, leeks, mange tout). The chips also deserve a special mention - they were delicious! Unfortunately, we were too full to try any desserts. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Although we have only recently moved to the area, we will definitely be returning to this restaurant."

"This restaurant could be v good but needs to get things right. Staff are friendly ina superficial way it are not genuinely happy to serve you,, a couple stand out as being particularly poor although the local girl is very good. Starters were very good, but the mains were not great. They price themselves as high end £28 for a pretty average curry, £28 for sea bass that was okay but under whelming and the fillet steak was good, but nothing special for £42. I don’t mind paying but the produce should sing. The wine list is okay but lacks depth and isn’t particularly interesting there is a lot of v cheap wine. That is out of kilter with the food pricing. Lastly, but not least, we were seated right next to the front door on a cold wet evening. Thankfully. We had jumpers. But it did detract from the evening particularly when people were waiting with the door open waiting for taxis. Overall, we had an okay evening just over £210 for 3 people without dessert and only a £36 bottle of wine. I could have given 2 stars but think it has potential, but needs a lot of work."

"Wow! Booked Porter Rye for my 40th birthday celebration with my husband. The customer service was outstanding, the staff very very attentive and lovely considering it was a Saturday night and busy! They went above and beyond and gave us complimentary prosecco as a birthday treat and a lovely plate of gorgeous little cakes with happy birthday written in chocolate at the end. It is the little things like this that make Porter Rye a truly special place! The restaurant has a really good atmosphere, we didn't want to leave! The food was out of this world, everything was cooked to perfection and clearly the chefs are at the top of their game. Genuinely can't wait to come back...thank you to all the team for making me feel special and for making the last night of my 30's one to remember! See you soon x"

"Took my little one and wife to celebrate her birthday with a hopeful lovely Sunday roast after some fruit picking round the corner. Pub is lovely in design and pleasant to sit in and relax but unfortunately for our experience that's where the pleasantries started to fizzle out. Orders were taken quickly which we were pleased with however starters took roughly 40 minutes to appear and a further 40 minutes to receive the main courses, people had entered after us, ordered and exited before we'd even managed to get round to our main course. Pub was quiet at this point in time which caught us even more by surprise. We'd both ordered the sunday roasts and were chomping at the bit to get stuck into them but unfortuantely flavour was lacking, which for the price, really took us by surprise. The slow service on top of the what tasted like a watered down roast (gravy was very runny and watery) meant we didn't enjoy our experience. With some concentration on table service, clear communication if things are running behind and some tweaks to the food this has potential but unfortuantely we had a poor experience. The waitress did apologise for the experience but not sure the slow kitchen service was entirely her fault."

"Whilst everybody seems to rave about Mark Hix and his London priced mediocre food and badly kept beer, they have lost sight of the fact that in his short tenure, he has destroyed one of the best village pubs in Dorset. To those who say that it's the best meal they ever had, I would say Living on a diet of junk food and takeaways doesn't necessarily make you a good judge of culinary standards. Shame on you Mark Hix."

"I really like going to Turkwise. Since it changed hands the new owner works hard to welcome customers, be attentive and helpful. He is friendly and always chirpy when we (regularly eat here. He recognizes we are regulars and often offers an after dinner drink on the house to thank us for our custom. A nice touch and he is a nice man. The food is always well cooked and tasty. A couple of small notes for improvement in my personal experience of going here many times..... Sadly the pricing structure is that of top local restaurants. The food is good but this is a casual local Turkish eaterie. Not a Michelin starred seafood restaurant or brasserie therefore I feel they would benefit from reviewing their pricing. For many customers will he unable to afford their food and they may be busier if they heed this advice. If I’m looking to spend £120 £140 for two people to eat 2 3 courses and have a couple of drinks each (I don’t have alcohol but my partner does drink beer , I would be going to the likes of Alecs, Smith’s, Felix and so on. As much as I love Turkwise for lunch, it is “posh meze and nice kebab style food, on a skewer with salad and bread” ....so, it’s not a brasserie nor is the menu indicative of it being so... Turkwise just isn’t in the same playing field of those eateries to be charging such prices. This puts us off from going more often than we do, but that’s not to say we won’t go back when we fancy a lunch time treat here and there. : the booth style seating at the front of the restaurant is exceptionally uncomfy, can’t lean back without bum falling off front of seat part (I’m not large female, size UK8 10 so larger people must really struggle as the seats aren’t deep enough. Needs attention really for something more comfy/suitable and to reassess their pricing."

"Set course for £19.99, including a bunch of sides, was a great value. Massive portions Service was fast, friendly and the lady serving us was great. Always looking out for our needs. The place needs better visibility outside. It's not very inviting, but the inside is a very cute basement. Deffiniately recommend. Will be coming back here again!"

"We arrived yesterday for a two night stay, dinner, bed and breakfast deal with travelzoo booked for my birthday. Hotel room really nice but the restaurant service and food is really bad. On arrival at 8.45pm, we, along with most of the restaurant were kept waiting at every step of the service. We booked the deal after reviewing the hotel and restaurant on their website. The menu advertised is not the menu you receive, the advertised menu having a much greater choice of food and photos of steak not as it is presented ie on a board. This I would think is very misleading to potential customers. My husbands meal was total disaster. Starter of crispy whitebait was soggy, far from crisp, which we informed the staff. After finally being served our main course at 9.50, my husband received chilli with a portion of rice he could not even put his fork through. He complained and it was replaced with what must have been a dessert spoon of rice. In the short time it took to return it, I would guess they have just broke through the hard rice on his plate and scooped out the middle, the chill was also not piping hot. At this point most of the customers in the restaurant were making comments as being able to ‘socialise’ with each other as they were having to wait so long to be served food, totally not acceptable. We then complained to the duty manager in the restaurant and then to reception who took down all the details of the complaint and said they would pass it to the manager today. I had sirloin steak and chips which was ok but not brilliant and not presented well. They offered a free glass of wine each, which I said this was not good enough and not the compensation we should be receiving. They said this was just a gesture and the matter would be sorted out today. I informed them it was so bad we would not be eating in the restaurant tonight to experience this again. I have attended the reception this morning to ask for an update on my complaint. I was told there was no manager available to speak to and we were on a 3rd party booking which was paid for. I pointed out that regardless of it being a 3rd party booking or direct with the hotel, this a complaint about the restaurant. I was offered an e-mail address to make a complaint but I have asked for the hotel to contact the relevant manager and for them to contact me. I am now awaiting a response. We will be eating elsewhere tonight. I’m sure there will be many complaints to the hotel and recorded on tripadvisor after yesterday evening"

"good location, nice staff and outsight were excellent. for the price class should be the first set, but not as expected we are stuck with the usual cotenders like fish and chips, sensen and sampi. the mustels were excellent, but the fresh fish and chips, and fresh scampi is where the restaurant is a great fence of the scampi is frozen and grown up in restaurant trading that they know machine covered scampi made every day, the scampi was perfectly round and had a thick layer of baked coating that was perfect even. freshly made scampi is never so perfect and for seven small pieces, a small basket of chips and a dry salad without dressing is certainly not worth. the fish was another story, I think it is fresh, but comes with a super thick layer of beerbatter that looks the fish big, but absorbs a lot of oil when fried and gives a very oily meal. it comes with a small basket of French pommes and some muddy baptisms for three small softdrinks, main courses as described and a child eaten comes the total number more than that would have been no problem if the quality of the food were good. we could have complained about our meal at the staff, but this was our first dinner in almost a year, as this is going to be locked up and should not come to it. these courts are fundamental, and to scott’s price point they should have been great."

"The service was fab this evening for our party of 10, friendly attentive. Unfortunately we found the food to be quite mediocre, we had garlic bread starter which we found quite dry and we had a Julio pizza which again was dry and bland, I’d not eaten at Soho for years and had heard good things but have to say I was a little disappointed. We had mixed reviews on our table for the food. Personally I wasn’t overly impressed. It has a nice atmosphere and again the staff were wonderful."

"The Hawksmoor on Air Street is our feature of the day. The @hawksmoorrestaurants is decadent, whilst also engendering a relaxed and almost casual atmosphere, which was nice. Our waitress spoke knowledgeably about the various steaks and made suggestions which suited us perfectly. In fact, she was adorable. She was smiley, attentive and had a good sense of humour. We had a lovely time. This restaurant is good for a celebration or a treat. They also have an option (correct as at the time of writing, but you may need to double check when you visit) which will enable you to have 2 courses for £22.00 or 3 courses for £25.00 Monday to Sunday until 18:30 from their Express Menu. Sadly, we visited too late to take advantage of this option... But, I will definitely visit again! We had Sirloin Steak (400g) Chateaubriand (500g) Peppercorn sauce Triple cooked chips Creamed spinach Buttered new potatoes Sticky toffee pudding with clotted cream ice-cream Jasmine tea Tonic water with Lemon I've also included a few pictures that I took of Central London on the way home! London is so beautiful at this time of year! Should you go here? An unresounding YES! The food was delicious and the flavours were tantalising my taste buds long after the feeling of hunger had subsided.. "I visited here with colleagues for a mid-week evening meal. There are some great deals on such as early bird where you get three courses for £16.95. I opted for that as the options I was going to get for starter and main were on there anyway and it worked out cheaper to do that than order them from the main menu (plus I got dessert in the early bird price too! Starter of fried halloumi was really nicely cooked and a perfect sized portion. My colleague had calamari but they felt it was a bit soggy for their liking. For main I had penne dolca vita which was really tasty, It was nicely cooked, had a decent kick and flavour and was suitably portioned. Dessert I had ice-cream which was fine. Overall we had a good evening here and the food was a standard expected of a good Italian restaurant. Service was friendly and generally efficient. Would recommend for a good value Italian meal"

"we were in porterhouse grill and rooms at a weekend visit to oxford. it was the perfect place! it is easily accessible for parking, public transport and the sights of the city. it is five minutes to walk in the heart of the city. we ate in the pub and dining room and all the food was excellent. although it is called the porterhouse grill, al the food was excellent. my wife had seabreams that were grilled over coal to perfection. my sirloin was as they would expect. but what made the trip exceptional was the personal. Every person we interacted with was courteous, respectful, efficient and funny. they were all superpersonal. I loved talking to ali about the similarities of our former lives. we are back to porterhouse grill and rooms when we are in oxford!"

"The One bar has always been known for its traditional and innovative Asian-inspired cuisine, bringing together a variety of flavors in a unique dining experience. However, our recent visit did not live up to expectations. Despite being a pricier establishment, the service was lacking, with a server who seemed disinterested and rushed. The food, while some dishes like the crispy duck stood out, was overall disappointing. The dumplings lacked flavor, the chicken was undercooked, and the staff did not seem to address our concerns. Overall, it was a disappointing evening, falling below the usual standard of The One bar. Changes need to be made to improve the dining experience."

"Very nice location inside and out. Warm and cosy/ elegant setting giving an air of high end market. The Staff are very attentive and polite. The food was only average and not what the price demanded. Sunday lunch is Sunday lunch but I 've eaten far better for half of the price. Don 't expect to pay extra for mashed potato. Pork with crispy crackling was actually super dry overcooked pork with wobbly fat and not the crispy crackling that people want. The beef was again pretty average, quite a lot of chewy sinew but tasty. The veg was spot on and a good choice. The desert was really tasty and a wow from the wife. Would I go again? yes! But probably for steak and chips or to try something else other than the Sunday lunch. Sunday dinner was only below par because of the pork and beef and lack of fillers extra roasties and mash."

"I came here on Wednesday night with the wife. We came because there was a ‘buy one get one free’ offer which is outstanding value for money. I had the chicken burger which was sublime. It came with chunky chips and a spicy dipping sauce....The wife went for the steak burger which she scoffed. The bill came to £15 for two people which is tremendous... so good we immediately made another booking for next week so we can bring our friends with us! There is plenty of parking outside, and the restaurant is beside Thainstone Mart for those new to the area. There is free WiFi, and a Trace Trace system upon arrival. The waitresses were all very helpful and friendly, the only minor quibble is that service was a bit slow e.g. we weren’t given menus when we were seated, and the food took around 40 minutes to arrive after ordering. Overall we had a very good experience and we are looking forward to our next visit."

"The Porterhouse 21-22 Maiden Ln, London WC2E 7NA Charing Cross £5.70 Temple Lager A cavernous multilevel pub with an extensive range of beers. . The Porterhouse in Covent Garden is just a short walk from either Charing Cross or Covent Garden Tube. This pub is part of the Dublin based @porterhousebrewco who along with their brewery and pubs in Ireland have pubs in London New York, a truly global affair. I visited here with my son on a crawl around Charing Cross and this pub caught my eye due to rave reviews I’ve read. On entering you immediately get a sense of the scale of this place, its huge. We approached the bar and it became apparent that the draught beer choice wasn’t very familiar to us, so we asked the barman for a bit of guidance on which lager and stout to go for. We chose our pints based on the barman’s recommendation and both were very enjoyable. The drinks choice here like the pub is massive, there is so much to choose from, the more familiar brews you might recognise come in bottles and cans. This pub is set over three levels and we decided to take a seat upstairs in a section overlooking the main bar. Even though this is a very large pub, the place we sat at was cosy enough even though the atmosphere was lively. The decor here is very unique, it’s almost like the owners wanted to create a cathedral to celebrate all things beer. There are glass cabinets everywhere displaying the multitude of beers on offer. There is also copper hand rails, copper tubing and copper ducting everywhere you look, the scrap man would have a field day. For the sports fans out there, there are a few big screens showing live sports, other entertainment comes in the form of regular live music events. . The @porterhouselondon has much to be admired. This is a great spot whether your in a group or in a couple. Covent Garden has so much to offer you on a day or night out, why not swing by to The Porterhouse to try it out for yourself. . Information correct on visiting 17/03/22"

"Walked in and the girl behind the bar (wearing a coat still) didn’t even aknowledge us…. Took our drink order at the bar when she got to us and pointed our table out. I ordered a soft drink, they’re all just cans. My partner ordered a pint, it smelt of wet dog. The menus are big chalk boards by the door, so you have to stand and squash between a door and the bar to read the menu. The menus are big and look absolutely great. Unfortunately it was better on paper than on the plate. Ordered starters, took 30 minutes to come out. I had garlic prawns, they were on garlic bread which was soggy in oil and grease. Not what I expected and it was horrible. My partner had chicken kebabs. It was literally a slither of chicken on a stick. It was so dry one half fell off when he touched it with a fork. Next we both ordered the steak, £30 each. Sirloin steak, all the trimmings, and a sauce. My steak was AWFUL covered in lumps of fat and tasted of leather. My partners wasn’t much better. I ordered the peppercorn sauce, it was yellow, like custard and made me feel physically sick. ‘All the trimmings’ was chopped mushrooms, onion rings (basically no onion just greasy batter) and a bowl of peas (between 2) and a bowl of chips (between 2) I couldn’t even eat mine so they did offer something else, which I declined so they took it off the bill, which I appreciated until we could hear them slagging us off in the kitchen pointing out that the other steak was fine…. Toilets dead flies on walls, and I thought the toilet was grey but it was dust. Restaurant cold, holes in wall, heater next to us splattered in grease and food. Staff ok but need a waitress to take orders and treat it like a restaurant when paying £30 for meals! It’s not cheap, seems like they don’t actually have a clear vision for the place. Menus look amazing!!! Just need someone that can cook it."
