"beautiful eating, owner is a helpful person. remains in the budget. they have cakes, pizzas, döner, burger, not least fish chips. when you buy pizza, the second is half price. it gets a bit busy while the rush hour, and the washing. mint sauce, garlic sauce and spicy sauce are prepared by them. in the salat area they have picked jalapeños, cucumber, wobble, tomato and salat. child area is also available. special items in the child area are chicken fuggets, sausages and other junk foods. regular döner, regular chips and a dose pop for £6."

"Chips were overcooked, dry and the oil seemed and tasted quite overused. Chips weren't hot as it was a portion in the basket when we arrived but could have been kept a little warmer. The vinegar was really strongly sour, not as tasty as other places. Clean looking front end so giving 3 stars but definitely need to improve on the taste."

"Tiny piece of cod compared to other local chip shops which offer bigger portions for better prices. Despite their Uber images showing the Fish accompanied by chips, and despite the majority of these shops offering this as a meal, on arrival there were no chips...included. When I called the shop, this very unhelpful, rude and arrogant person in charge proceeded to tell me how my order did not contain chips. Despite me explaining to him that it’s only logical that he have chips with his cod portion, or at least having that as an add-on option, he simply maintained that my order had no chips added. As a result, we had to order chips separately, and pay delivery fee for UberEats a second time. Not worth the trouble as there are many better quality, better value for money, and much more pleasant chip shops in the centre of Cardiff."

"I've always been here and never had a problem I'd say in the last few months the food is either always good or terrible as one minute it's yummy and then it's not. I've just order tonight which was donner meat with pitta bread and salad the salad looks like it's been there since yesterday the meat is too hard and the pitta is also just the same. "I sought out Gem Fish Chips specifically because of the online fantastic reviews. I was so gutted when I rocked up on Tuesday night and they were closed. But, I rocked up again Wednesday evening and was so glad I did. Riva and Sean are so warm and welcoming. We had a lovely chat while Sean cooked the Cod and Chips to order. He even gave us a free tub of his new signature gluten free curry sauce to try! DIVINE. Everything was cooked to perfection. The batter was crispy but not too fatty. The fish was flaky and so tasty. The chips were amazing. We ordered medium portions and they were huge. We even had leftovers for the next day. Even the price was fantastic! £8 for a medium cod and chips! My advice is go try The Gem Fish and Chips in Falmouth but check when they are open!!"

"I ordered a few months back a spicy mince pizza. Instead, they sent me a chicken pizze I really didn't want. So I called and they said they'd give me a free pizza next time. I have explained that I am not often more out, so there is a deadline for the order. they said no. I called today to claim that there is a daily policy to get any kind of refund for food or money and that they have changed manager too, so that the mistakes do not transfer. I would give them less star if I could."

"My lady and myself arrived at lunchtime on Friday. We used the left hand entrance to the restaurant. Normally we love a bit of haddock, but we were on a budget that day so we went with one of the specials. Lets say 'special ' was not exactly fair play. We used to use Nikki 's as a fish and chips venue and always found them to be of top quality. This is the first time we sampled the other side of the business. I ordered a Cumberland sausage, with mash, gravy and a Yorkshire pud. My better half ordered a lasagne and chips. Service was wonderful and our server was very attentive, cheery and polite. The atmosphere of the place was good. The crowd was bustling and those who passed us seemed to be pleased with their meals. Looking back, I 'm pretty sure they ordered the fish! The food arrived very quickly and was piping hot. My Cumberland wasn 't bad, but didn 't live up to the price of the plate. It was almost lost in gravy and onions. The mash was good, but again, not really up to the what was charged. My Wife 's lasagne tasted good, but was spongy and dry, having been prepared earlier and microwaved. I was generally OK, if slightly disappointed in my meal, until I bit into the Yorkshire pudding. Oh dear. It was one of those cheap ones you get in bag at Iceland. Not even a large one, but a tiny little one. It wasn 't at all light, fluffy, eggy or even tasting of Yorkshire pudding. It was tough and tasteless like plastic. Awful! My wife finished her meal and past me the remainder of her chips to finish off. The chips were a revelation. They were light and fluffy and had that batter tasted edge to them. They were gorgeous, fresh and perfectly done. With a start, I realised that this was the highlight of both our meals the chips! I don 't think that either of us would dare a visit to the restaurant again after our experience. Lunch for two was just shy of £20, and that was with sticking to the 'specials '. The quality of the food most definitely did NOT live up to the price tag! If you do go, maybe you 'll have better luck with the fish bar menu?"
