"This was a mixed experience. I was looking forward to one of my favourite Italian meals: scaloppine al limone. My partner went for a classic spaghetti bolognese. The veal seemed to be a rather thick cut, and was tough. Thankfully, this was replaced with an apology for a chicken cacciatore, which was pretty good. The chef also made a fresh bolognese, rather than simply keeping my husband's meal warm. We almost left, though, at that point, as there were several people coming in not to eat, but one, very loudly on her phone and chatting with the waiter, followed by a fairly obnoxious man who seemed to be collecting a take away. We stayed for dessert, which was good delighted to see that they make zabaglione for only one, which is rare. Overall, service was very good, but the place has all the ambience of a take away. Don't go if you want to have a conversation with a companion."

"My friend and I had the loveliest 4 hours here last night. Such a warm welcome from Sandra on arrival, who was very attentive and patient all evening. The food was delicious, just gorgeous. We both had a pasta dish each, salad, aubergine stew side, bread and tapenade, all were very reasonably priced and very high quality. Being given a little taste of the wine before we chose, was a very nice touch that not many places do anymore, we appreciated that. It had a relaxed and vibrant feel. Raphael checked on us a few times, and even reassured us at the end of the night that we didn't need to rush off! And Antonio the chef chatted to us too. It was such a lovely welcoming place that we have determined to go back again soon, and highly recommend to anyone to do the same."

"We had high hopes for this restaurant after reading glowing reviews about its food and wine, especially since it's so close to home. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. For a place that prides itself on a passion for wine, the selection by the glass was surprisingly limited. One of our guests was disappointed to find that there was only one red wine option available by the glass. Despite the abundance of wines displayed throughout the restaurant, the waitress informed us that they were unwilling to open another bottle, leaving our guest with no choice but a chilled wine, which wasn't what he wanted, they didn’t bother to offer him a refill, simply taking away his empty glass mid-meal without a word. As for the food, it was distinctly average. In an area with so many excellent dining options at the same price point—such as Primeur, Cadet, Jolene, and Saltene—this restaurant doesn’t come close to measuring up Overall, we left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return. For the price and reputation, we expected much more."

The pizza arrived quickly and was delicious. The only downside was that it took some time to receive the bill, but the restaurant was quite busy at that point. We would definitely come back again."

"we were looking for a quick appetizer, as we have a short time between afternoon activities and a visit to the citizen’s theatre, training spotting, fantastic, but that is for another review site! very practical restaurant for parking and theatre, and welcomed by friendly staff. restaurants were quiet around 18 o'clock, we both chose from the 2 cursor menu. we had bruschetta and zuppa di fagioli to begin with a side garlauchbrot, the bruschetta was fantastic. for the net I had pollo alla cacciatore, nicely cooked and tasted fantastic. my wife had pennette amatriciana, she also thought is really nice. we will certainly go back when we have a little more time to relax and enjoy the experience, but the personal and the service we have received was very good."

"After Italmania on Union Street shut down a few years ago I struggled to find an Italian in Glasgow that done a really good carbonara. The carbonara here is delicious. I would recommend the rose wine on the wine list, it's odd but worth it, I would also reccomend the garlic bread with cheese, the bread is more like pan bread and not the usual garlic baggette you get elsewhere. The staff are great, the food is amazing. I used to go here every Friday for lunch (before I bought a house and became permanently skint) and would always get half pizza half pasta with a friend which was always amazing. They also do a thing called Viva Gold, if you say this when booking and it's within the set timescales of the deal you can get between off the food bill depending on the day. Check their website for times before booking."

"Had been to Mariners a couple of times previous and had a good experience both times. I made the host aware of this on entry . Unfortunately today’s experience wasn’t so good . Starters were satisfactory, had rib eye steak for main, was tasty but rather tough. Price was double what I would pay in my local and have to say my local’s steaks are better cuts. The biggest issue with this place is they charge for bottled tap water. They charged us £2.50 Which in the grand scheme of things is not much when you have just spent £120 for 2 people but when I asked the waitress wearer I was being charged for tap water she refused to answer. The main host possibly the owner then came over . I asked the same question to her . Her response was well we didn’t get it out of the Orwell! All I wanted was an honest answer. So hence I won’t be coming back again."

"We had a table booked for 5 last night and our whole party were beyond impressed.My Mam who usually never eats 1 course whenever we eat out, absolutely adored everything she ordered (all 3 courses) as did we all.Would recommend the 10oz steak and the Angus steak burger, perfect chunky chips and of course they do sticky toffee pudding everything was well cooked, staff were lovely and friendly.Very Covid-19 award with appropriate measures in place. "We booked a table for 2 on Tripadvisor early on a Friday night. We was doing a pub tour after so was a little earlier than normal . when we turned up the place was empty apart from 2 members of staff and some banging music which was being played really loud. when we walked in the music to my disgust was turned done and we was shown to our table. I asked for the music to be turned back up and it was however only a little. We was told that they had a party of 20+ later and they had booked the whole restaurant. We was never rushed and the 2 staff where great and made it feel like the restaurant was just ours for the night. Food was really good and wine was fantastic and they kept pouring . Price was good and will go back again when we have more time . The 2 guys on the night could have been serving their our friends you wouldn't have known . "My husband, son, and I recently visited San Giovanni's for the first time since before the COVID lockdown, and we were thrilled to be able to enjoy a sit-down meal experience once again. Although we have been ordering takeout meals, there is just something special about sitting around a table together. It was my 65th birthday, and this dinner was a wonderful treat. We started with garlic bread and a variety of appetizers, including tender spare ribs, meatballs, and calamari. For our main courses, I had a delicious fillet steak stroganoff with rice, my husband tried the linguine al gamberoni, and my son enjoyed his favorite, lobster ravioli. We finished off with affogato for dessert, our go-to Italian treat. We enjoyed a selection of drinks including a mojito cocktail, beer, and a lovely bottle of wine with our meals. The total bill came to a reasonable £191. One small issue was that our online reservation did not receive an acknowledgement, so we called to confirm our booking. While it was not a problem for a quiet Thursday evening, it could be disappointing on a busier night or special occasion. I would recommend calling to book in the future. Overall, it was a fantastic evening and we highly recommend San Giovanni's."

"Fabulous find for luncheon. We both picked a pizza each, hubby always has pepperoni, was very pleased he had. I had a hot smoked salmon one with rocket, cream cheese dill, it was called a Smokehouse, not to be missed. The staff were very busy catered for us so well. We have two golden retrievers which were highly looked after with their own water bowl brought without being asked their own biscuits brought on a saucer, so thoughtful!! We will be returning next Friday on our way back home…… delightful place!!"

"This is the place to book for a delicious meal where the tortelloni pasta is rolled thinly, the pasta bases are proper italiano, the sauces are tasty and the meat specialities like veal, beef and 'pollo ' are always tender. Ask for the soup of the day for an unusual but spot on combination.try and avoid the complimentary bread and olives if you don 't want to be too full before the main meal arrives! These are not small dieters portions, so ask for a small helping if you 're worried about that kind of thing. There are no pretences or frills, this is trattoria styling with full blown flavours of Italy. The warm welcome you get from the owners is unequalled in any other Aberdeen restaurant of this ilk. Minimal improvements could be made to the baby changing toilet facilities and maybe by stocking some prosecco this restaurant would be 100% splendid. But the food could not get any better. Try, try and try again"

"cafe citta is a tiny little restaurant that is worn away and is very inconspicuous. if they have not made extensive food research, they might miss it at the end because it looks impressing from the outside. I recommend to them however to go an effort because if they are looking for authentic Italian food in cardiff, cafe citta should definitely do on their list! atmosphere: it is a very small restaurant with barely walking. the tables are small and crampy, so when they come with more than 3 people, I recommend to them a booking well in advance. but despite being small, the decoration is really charming. it felt more like going into someone's living room than a real restaurant! there were flowers each table with beautiful wooden tables, whose table legs were decorated in very ornate style, and cool paintings on the wall as well! customer service: excellent, could not be better. not only the personal friendly, but they were also very attentive and made sure that our table was well clarified without having to say anything at all! Food: that was excellent. as an appetizer we had the caprese, which was fresh buffalo mozzarella with a beautiful sauce and fresh tomato. the mozzarella was fantastic and really very fresh. we also ordered the polenta al ragu and the bolognese soße, which accompanied the polnta was fantastic! for a pornstar, I ordered the pollo alla romana, which was a whole chicken breast with sage, parma ham, and a side of kartoffel and salat boiled. we also had a garlic pizza to share. they gave us chili oil and parmesan on the side for extra spices. everything was great! I am usually not too excited to order chicken breast in a restaurant, but it was extremely juicy I didn't know that chicken breast could be so tender! there were great aromas everywhere. the only negatiw is that I recommend to give them the garlic pizza. it was quite bland and needed half a quantity of chili oil and parmesan to save it. overall I recommend cafe citta. next time, I would try one of her pasta dishes, how my partner swept over his tagliatelle carbonara!"

"We (family of four with a teen pre-teen are staying in Childswickham just outside Broadway for a weeks holiday so thought we’d try the Childswickham Inn Brasserie as we could walk there through the pretty village, it has great reviews and it’s dog friendly. We booked for a Friday evening and were given our choice of tables in the very pretty garden area. Everything about the place is wonderful. The pub itself is a lovely country style inn with a very warm welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor area is beautiful with a lit pergola under canvas canopies and very comfortable chairs and roomy tables. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful and made a fuss of our two Labradors. The food was superb. Honestly some of the best traditional-but-next-level pub fare we’ve ever had. I had the pie of the day which was lamb, husband had Cumberland sausages and the kids had burgers. All completely homemade, served quickly, fresh piping hot and with generous portions. Husband suffered from extreme pie envy when he tasted my dish! We couldn’t resist the puds so opted for sticky toffee puddings and chocolate brownie. Again, all homemade, generously portioned and utterly delicious. The food was so good we decided to spend our final meal here and opted for Sunday lunch. We all had sirloin of beef which were served with the best (and biggest! Yorkshire puddings we’ve ever had. We’re from Yorkshire and we know a perfect Yorkie when we see (and taste one and these deserve the highest praise. The beef was perfectly cooked, thickly cut and it melted in the mouth. It was served with a generous portion of roast potatoes, cheesy leeks (a personal favourite! , a selection of perfectly cooked veg lovely rich gravy. Desserts were equally fabulous. Genuinely up there with the best food we’ve ever eaten and exceptionally good value. I just wish it was closer to home as we’d be returning constantly! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. Perfect food, wonderful service, lovely ambience and surroundings and great value, more than deserving of five stars. Thank you for two wonderful visits, you were a highlight of our holiday!"
