"very attentive and charming staff that felt comfortable and welcome. we had the escaping almost for ourselves and eating and drinking came as a result quickly. the portions were generous. the menu had suitable for vegan products it was good to see several options on the menu for people with specific nutritional requirements. In order to improve the experiences in the future, fresh ingredients (e.g. in the seafood linguins that seemed to be frozen) would be preferred, but given the current circumstances after the lock and at the end of the summer season the lack of fresh ingredients is understandable. the pub is located on the opposite side of the hotel lobby from the restaurant and worked much cosier due to the warmer lighting, the unhindered windows and the general unfussy decoration. the restaurant in which we ate was quite “cold” (not in the ambient temperature, but in the atmosphere) with a very blue palette of decoration and surfaces, and with the blinds and thick curtains the half over the windows. making more of the available sunlight or adding some attractive internal lighting would make a welcome difference here. the procedure for payment of the meal should be checked. I'm sure it made practically sense to collect card payments in the cash, but it felt quite strange in a world where we are so used to serving personal also in the position to collect payments. all in all, I would expect all the dunes to enjoy a simple, square meal that could not be the paragon of English cuisine, but will surely silence every starving in a attentive environment."

"We had spa treatments lined up for the afternoon and lunch with a glass of bubbles was included in the package. We were shown to our table and given menus and a wine list. With lunch being part of the package I had to leave my seat and check with the maitre de as to what was actually included rather than being advised when seated. With the option of two courses each, I went for starters and main and my wife went for main and desert. I chose the crispy Parma ham with poached egg followed by the Moroccan Lamb and my wife chose the herb gnocchi followed by the Creole fruit salad. Not much could criticised about my starter other than the poached egg was over cooked but my Moroccan Lamb was far from Moroccan. The lamb sat on a bed of plain couscous surrounded by grilled peppers, courgette and aubergine which were described as Provençal but there was no hint of tomato to be found. The lamb was plain with no hint of any spices. I question the term “Moroccan Lamb”. The herby gnocchi appeared to be fried and tasted more like a bland bubble and squeak. The lemon mascarpone was ok. Finally, the “Creole fruit salad” was nothing more than pineapple and orange segments with some coconut shavings and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We even found pips left in some of the orange segments. All in all a very disappointing and lack lustre lunch but thankfully the treatments were good."

"We have been meaning to try Joseph Benjamin for a while now so finally booked a table with ease online. Had a wonderful meal and felt very well looked after by the lovely ladies serving on Friday night. They were all welcoming and friendly upon entering. The reservation request was accommodated for too. Each person who served was knowledgeable about the wine and the food and able to answer every question put to them promptly and with good explanations and accurate descriptions. The soup and bread with it were both deliciously flavourful, the fish was cooked beautifully although as I sometimes do found the langoustine bisque a little on the salty side. The homemade cranberry sorbet was refreshingly tart I am so glad they did not feel the need to overly sweeten it! My partner hugely enjoyed his starter and the ox cheek fell apart perfectly, however we both agreed the brownie desert was a little on the dry side in the absence of any sauce coulis or cream served instead with a beautiful peanut butter icecream and cindertoffee. They all were great flavours but didn't make it look as appealing or help with the overall texture/lubrication of the dish. For us, what was most appreciated was that when a half full bottle of wine embarrassingly was knocked off the table and no fuss made. Two of the waiting on staff very quickly cleared up the mess, without complaint, comment or looks. Thank you at a make or break moment for saving our anniversary meal accidents can happen but how they are dealt with truly shows the calibre of the service, and your reactions speak highly."
