"My friend and I often visit the Old Halfway House as it’s local to us both. Until relatively recently, we have been for the lunchtime menu, and it’s been fairly good. The pub has a nice atmosphere, and it’s clean and tidy. However, the menu has now changed; the lunchtime menu has increased from £6 to £8. Soft drinks have also increased, and a glass of coke is now £4.25, which is simply too much. This last visit, I ordered scampi chips and peas. I could hardly believe my eyes when the server brought my meal. There were 9 small pieces of scampi, a few chips and what I estimated to be 1 spoon of peas. I was really upset about this. The tartar sauce was also underwhelming a tiny bit in the bottom of the dish. The plate actually looked like a child’s meal. Ok, so we all know prices are increasing across all sectors, but whilst pubs need to make a profit, customers also need value for money, and this falls woefully short of what one would expect. Would a few extra peas and chips, and maybe a couple more pieces of scampi really cost that much more for better customer satisfaction? I’ll answer that myself no. When the lady came to collect our plates, we were asked if everything was ok. I mentioned the measly portion size, and she said she’d mention it to the kitchen. We remained in the pub a good 20 minutes, but she never returned, so I don’t know what the kitchen had said. We were going to order dessert, but after seeing that portion size, decided we wouldn’t bother. As mentioned before, we eat out locally once a week, so we have plenty of places with which to compare this to, and it falls way short of the competition. It is sad, but we will be finding somewhere with better value for money in future."

"Afternoon Tea for 2 at 12:15pm We made a booking, paid a deposit and it was confirmed again the day before with an email. When we arrived the manager said he knew nothing about our booking, so nothing had been prepared. He apologised, and kept apologising. We were very disappointed as this was our first catch up in 8 years! The manager then went into the kitchen. When he came back he said could we wait for an hour while they prepare. He said there was a party of 50 people to cook for too. It was too late to go anywhere else. He placed us in a quieter area, offered us tea/coffee. We chose 1 tea and 1 black Americano. They came with 2 teas! Took one away and eventually arrived again with a coffee. The tea was not nice so it didn’t get drank. We ended up having to move to a different table as the smell from the accessible toilet absolutely stank when the door was opened. Eventually our food arrived. It was awful! The cheese sandwich bread was hard, the bacon sandwich was not that enjoyable, the chicken one was also not nice, the sweet potato one was horrible, soggy and looked awful. The scones were dry, clotted cream looked like it had seen better days. The small dessert ‘thing’ in a shot glass was disgusting, the cream ontop had already slid off onto the plate. The only nice thing was the very small chocolate brownie. We complained, the staff on the tills were actually very lovely and tried to help us over and over. Not their fault. They tried to reduce to bill, but not with much success. Only taking off £2 each! Then we reminded them that we’d paid a £10 deposit on booking, then they checked and said oh yes! (So there was a booking in our name after all! we were so fed up by then we just paid under protest and left. all in all it was an absolute farce. We both put all this info on their online feedback form, which promises to reply within 72 hrs. We have not heard anything back and it’s been 10 days now! We certainly would never recommend this place, especially Afternoon Tea. Appalling!"

"Had a sunday lunch recently with the family at this ph and it was very nice.We booked a table and ordered drinks at the bar when we arrived cruzcampo on draught always a plus.We looked at the lunch menu and ordered four adult and one child sunday lunch at the bar.The food came after about 20 mins and looked lovely.The sunday lunch consisted of roast and mashed potatoes,mashed turnip,stuffing,meat and roasted parsnips.The veg which came in seperate bowls were broccoli,carrots and cabbage with two jugs of gravy.Friendly service,nice food and cold cruzcampo made for an enjoyable lunch.There is plenty of car parking available and there is a bar as well as a restaurant/lounge area with sky sports on the tv.We shall return."

"We went as a group of 6 to celebrate special birthday. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Food was delicious and the place was clean but the noise level was awful . We couldn’t really talk to each other and as we were seated near the door , it got very cold as people kept going out to smoke and back in leaving the door open . It was awful as every 5 minutes a group would go out for smoke . I would definitely recommend the food"

"Walking up Borough High Street, I passed Truly Indian on my way to sainsburys. I noticed that the chicken tikka wrap was back on their lunch time menu. It had not been advertised for while but historically I had at least one a week when there were last on the menu. They were amazing £5.95 for the wrap and a drink.So decided to have one again, this time its advertisd at £4.95 but no drink. Not to worry dont like fizzy drinks anyway.So at my desk and half way through it and although the sauce had changed and not as good as previous the main issue was the chicken. I decided to unwrap it and clearly the old chuncks of chicken tika have been replaced with finer cuts of chicken with no tikka. And I counted 4 very small slivers the size of a finger nail.This is just unbeleivable. I know produce and rents have gone up but a decent operator is not taking the mickey with this type of trick.Management please sort it out please, at £5 i can get a decent burger of the market or a mixed meat mezze at the establishment opposite you. Not happy. Clearly not, as I dont write reviews unless something is great or something is really bad."

"Went for my sister’s bday. Had a great time. Only few things is that they don’t give tap water and charge a lot for a small bottle of water. They don’t accept card payment. It must be cash for now because they haven’t installed the card payment machine, there is an atm right outside the lounge. The food was too tasty and will be back again to have it again. The Mocktails are so good and generally it was a nice vibe and great ambience. The staff were really attentive and made my sisters day really lovely."

"I brought my family here for Mother’s Day and the dining experience did not disappoint. The cocktails were lovely, the food was simply delicious and the service was 5 stars. We stayed for 3 courses and handed the table back at the end of our time slot which was more than enough time to eat, talk and enjoy the lovely atmosphere. The calamari and steak were cooked to perfection not overcooked and rubbery as some places serve. The classic pad Thai was scrumptious and did not disappoint with the peanuts served on the side allowing me to choose how crunchy I wanted it. The tofu was nicely done as well. My mother absolutely loved the sorbet flavours offered for dessert and the banana pancakes and vanilla ice cream was a welcomed treat. We advised them of an allergy or intolerance and they were very diligent and attentive to this. Often checking before serving each course. Portion sizes were reasonable and so was the pricing. Definitely value for money and I intend to go back."

"Went for a family meal party of 8 , the food was excellent and the service by Kerry was outstanding, she made sure we got the combination of food we wanted even if we changed it a bit from what was on the menu and made sure we had drinks when needed, Kerry works hard. "All 4 dishes were stunning. The scallops were so sweet and enhanced by the delicate sauce. The prawns were succulent and meaty and the salmon was moist and fragrant from the beautiful blend of exotic spices. Gomezadams is not a fan of salmon so I sat there, like a cat in a fishmonger, hoping to snatch his salmon. Alas, he ate the whole thing with delight, much to my chagrin. My favourite dish was the soft shell crabs! Sweet but spicy, soft but crunchy!"

"I turned up on a Wednesday, carvery night, more in hope than expectation. Mikaylah and Shaun found me a spot in the bar on what was clearly a very busy night. Service was great and attentive. I ordered a soft drink and a carvery and was able to go up for my food in no time at all. The spread of meat available is always good, but as a creature of habit, I chose beef. The roasties, Yorkshire pudding, and vegetables were cooked to perfection for me. Big thanks to Fabio and Ruby for the service. Overall experience was very good. I attend quite often and have never been disappointed with the food or the service. Given this was a very busy night, I cannot fault my experience. One final shout out to the kitchen team, Shona, Gary, and Bradley. I have never been disappointed with the food, and the beef is always cooked to perfection for me. Will definitely be back. Given the popularity of the carvery, I would advise booking! 5/5"

"Was looking for an authentic Indian restaurant in Wembley after travelling from the North of England, found the restaurant on google and chose to book it. I have to say Baarish Restaurant was amazing. The food was delicious and after having tried many Indian restaurants in central London, Baarish’s food definitely matches it. I had the butter chicken which was extremely flavourful, butter naan nice and soft and topped off with their mocktail Sunset which was delicious. The staff were very welcoming and even though the restaurant was quite busy everything was in order and service was excellent. All the staff very very attentive and friendly. The vibe of the restaurant was excellent very well designed giving the feel of India with the wood design. A perfect place to take a few pictures. Overall, I loved this restaurant and would choose it over places in the city as it delivered in every aspect perfectly. Will definitely be back. Thank you"

"Came to bengal spice for the first time and thought the restaurant looked nice and cosy. Bringing your own drinks was a nice touch to keep the cost down too. Unfortunately after eating the food we had the worst tummy pain from it , messed our sleep up because the food was definitely not right. I think it was something to do with the sauce. "This is the best Indian food we have had anywhere outside my mother inn laws kitchen. Authentic flavors, meat is tender, the mixed grill was to die for. Fish curry incredible and the biryani totally floated my boat, Service was prompt, and friendly, yes seating is a little tight and portions a little on the small side, but for this area it is still amazing value, you will not find a better Indian. I am eating the leftovers cold for breakfast : What a treat !"

"Was recommended this place by a friend. We have used Cafe Indus but this place just shines far brighter. Staff we’re all really friendly, attentive and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. "We came for lunch on a Sunday quite early and ordered one Chicken Shawarma, x 4 Sweet Potato Fries, Cookie Dough Bonanza and Kunefe. 5mins later the waiter says don't have any of the desserts we asked for or the Chicken Shawarma so we said we'll take 4 drinks and fries, another 5mins later a different waitress came to inform us they didn't have any sweet potato fries, eventually we cancelled all the food as they couldn't give us what we originally came for to order. We drank our drinks in an empty restaurant (I wonder why) and the floors were sticky on the way to the restroom. This place used to be great hence why we came today only be let down by the low standards that have befallen this place. They could of got the sweet potato fries from Home Bargain next door, it would be understanable if it was near closing time. Did the cook not inform the waiter/waitresses what wasn't available to order beforehand? Just made them look clueless"

"We were visiting a tourist attraction in the area and noted that the Bulls Head did food so we popped in. We ordered two cheese and bacon toasties which came with dirty fries with an additional order for a side salad. We waited 45 minutes and then approached the bar to enquire where our (very basic food was. I was advised that our order was being prepared next and the male staff member said we did warn you on ordering that food was taking 45 minutes . I replied that this had not been conveyed to us (as we would certainly not have continued with the order but found an alternative location for our snack . Satisfied that our food would be arriving immanently I returned to my table. I waited a further 25 minutes and returned to the bar to again, asking where our food was. I was advised that it was literally on it 's way out of the kitchen. So again, I returned to our table and true to his word, the food arrived, but it was NOT what was specified on the menu which had stated dirty fries (topped with bacon and chopped spring . Our fries merely had some sauce drizzled over. This was absolutely the last straw. I returned to the counter with the food and asked to speak with the Manager as I wished to have a refund as the food was not as specified. I duly got out my credit card (original method of payment but was immediately provided with a cash refund. I believe that the staff just wanted to get us out of the premises quickly as it was very obvious that we were far from happy. Luckily we are not local and therefore not likely to be in the area again but needless to say, if we were, we would certainly NOT be making a repeat visit."
