"We were forced to consider another restaurant for our stay near Heathrow when we found our normal haunt was shut. On the strength of several other reviews we thought we'd give Shahee Mahal a go. The decor is pleasant, the service outstanding and the food is very good. The icing on the cake is that it represents one of the best value restaurants we've ever been to. The deal we had (available Mon, Tue and Wed) at £11.95 for starter, main, rice, side dish and a beer is unbeatable! I'll be back there again next week."

"My boyfriend and I used to frequent the restaurant/takeaway on Dumbarton Road, but have recently stopped going as often due to the lack of friendliness. We used to order our takeaway in the restaurant and enjoy a drink while chatting with the man taking our order. However, they now lock the restaurant and do not allow customers to wait inside or have drinks in the unlicensed takeaway. This was disappointing as we enjoyed the atmosphere and socializing while waiting for our food. Overall, the staff at Papa Gill's are not friendly and the food quality has declined. We will be going to The Ettrick in Old Kilpatrick instead, where we can enjoy great food in a warm and inviting environment. If you are looking for a friendly and enjoyable Indian takeaway experience, go to The Ettrick."

"Lovely little Indian restaurant that was very busy on a Wednesday evening. The menu has loads of veggie options and specifically states that dishes can be made vegan on request. There were quite a few interesting dishes that I haven’t seen at other Indian restaurants. We ended up trying four different side dishes rather than mains as they all sounded so good. Would recommend the Pindi Choley (chickpeas) and Baingan Bharta (aubergine). We spoke with the owner who is veggie and wanted more veggie/vegan diners!"

"My partner and I usually collect food from here, but last night we had our first delivery and the food was beautiful, as always! Every meal is tasty with big portions full of meat! They forgot our free bottle of pop last night so a bit gutted about that but the friendly service in the shop, and friendly delivery driver made up for that! Our favourite Indian in Cardiff! "Why we visited Sampan Bromley? We have been looking for a restaurant to have Sunday Buffet lunch at reasonable price and with many items to taste. We have seen few other restaurants around Bromley do the Buffet but we selected this restaurant as the picture(on the website) provided in Buffet section is tempting and looks like there are many items Actual Experience: When we arrived there, we were shocked. Here is why 1) Less than 11 items in Buffet and that was including Salad items. Here were the items: Here are the items: Starters: a) Salads (too basic) b) Chicken tikka (taste 3 out of 5) c) Lamb sheikh kebab (taste 3 out of 5) d) Onion bhajji (taste cold and soggy so, 2 out of 5) Main Course: a) Naan(plain and dry) and Rice b) Shaag Aloo (taste 3.5 out of 5) c) veg jalfrezi (taste 2 out of 5) d) Chicken tikka masala (taste horrible as an Indian, never seen chicken tikka masala with coconut 0 out of 5) e) Chicken masala (taste 2 out of 5) f) Rogan ghos(lamb) (taste 3.5 out of 5) Dessert: a) Fruits(gapes, pineapple , melons) does it call dessert? "I arranged a meeting and decided to go to a competitor's Indian restaurant, but it was a bit challenging and some of the staff were not very friendly. A friend recommended this place to me, and I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. The menu offered a good selection of dishes for both meat-eaters and vegetarians. The portions were quite generous, and in hindsight, I probably should have ordered a smaller mixed grill, but it was Christmas after all. The Indian mixed grill we ordered was excellent and arrived at our table sizzling hot, creating quite a bit of smoke. The portion size was large, with enough food to comfortably feed 4 people with the included naans. The value for money was fantastic. I also tried the lamb saag, which was tender and flavorful. The sauces and dips were served in a nice presentation, rather than being in large squeeze bottles like some other places. They provided paper napkins, not cheap kitchen roll, and offered a take-home option for leftovers. The staff was very friendly, and I look forward to visiting again in the future."

"Lovely service and food. I think many people forget that different Indian restaurant/takeaways cook food differently and that’s why not all curries or meals tasted the same as others. The service was brilliant and i was advised on what to get and really enjoyed it. The deserts where also lovey. Lots of options and service was quick even as the food is made fresh to order. "This restaurant is truly underrated. The staff is outstanding and very friendly. The constant flow of young adults coming in and out hints at the delicious food being served. Despite the lack of customers dining in, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal each time I visited and always ended up with a large takeout container to bring home. Some of the curry dishes even taste better the next morning for breakfast. It's a bring your own (alcohol) and bring your own (cash) establishment, as they do not have a card machine. While there may be some questionable practices with their books, the food coming out of the kitchen is nothing short of delicious."

"Passing by noticed that they were offering unlimited roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings and gravy with the roast dinners and seeing as I was hungry I thought I’d pop in for a roast and a pint. Service was swift and the girl behind the bar was very friendly. Ordered a turkey roast and I was not disappointed. Had a few of the unlimited Yorkies and potatoes after as per the sign on the window and there was no moaning/grumbling like some places tend to do. Would recommend and will have again when in the area."

"On the day that government extended the tier 4 areas across the country, I collected dinner from Desi only to find that all the 3 employees inside Desi had no protection whatsoever. Not even bad placed mask on the chin as many people use, not a single mask at sight. Every other take away that I have used in the last week had employees with masks as mandatory for every open business. Being a restaurant with a open door on a tier 4 area I expected much more from Desi."

"Ordered a delivery from here and waited over an hour for the desserts to arrive! Rang up 3 times and was told misleading delivery information about when the food would arrive. On the 3rd try to get in contact the man just hung up on me! Very unimpressed. By the time the food had arrived, the ice cream on the brownie had completely melted and was swimming in the “ice cream”. the waffle was nice after I had to stick it in the microwave to warm as it was cold. Would’ve been quicker to drive and order in person. Not happy with this service and will not be ordering delivery from here again."

"First time trying this lovely takeaway. We ordered meals for 6 people, it was ready within 45 mins for collection. Sadly we were missing the naan bread and poppadums but they realised immediately so before i had chance to contact them they,rang me and then delivered the missing items whilst the food was still hot! Onion bhajis were delicious crispy and not greasy, fresh salad too. Main dishes were the best I have tasted in long time, I'm so impressed will definitely be ordering from here again. Thank you"

"Disappointed with the food this time, as previously they food tasted way better. The naan bread tasted quite sour, it was hard and chewy. Also the tarka dhall didn't taste right. Don't know if it was because the food was cooked by a different chef or whether it was rushed as the restaurant was closing soon, (even though we had ordered 2 hrs before).The mixed grill however was okay."

"I have visited many Indian restaurants, but I have often been disappointed by the lack of variety in their dishes. They are either overly spicy or bland, and often drenched in oil and artificial coloring. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this particular restaurant. Despite its unassuming appearance, the food was well-seasoned, made with high quality meat, and overall excellent. I was very impressed and will definitely return. Although I have had some average experiences in the past, my most recent visit was once again excellent. Every restaurant has its off days, but for the price, this place offers the best value for takeout in York. While Mirchiz on Fishergate may offer slightly higher quality dining, it is also more expensive. For a local Indian restaurant, this place surpasses its competition."

"We booked a table for 4 for 7.30pm, arrived 7.25 and it took 20 mins. to get severed for drinks. It got worse! We were finally shown to the table of a 20% full restaurant and 25mins later finally had the head waiter ask if he could take our order...with an attitude as if he was doing us a favour... We were so put off by the dirty, 'sticky ' tables and v slow service we told the waiter we were leaving, paid for our drinks and left. Never again will we go back!"
