"panis is a popular restaurant that opened about ten years ago in the historic center of newcastle. it was then the first Italian restaurant in the city, but it was so successful, offering good typical dishes from the south of the country, full of flavor and at good price, which continued to open more Italians near. During the night, the menu is a little more formal than half a day, pasta and pizza dishes replace the paninis, but they continue to cost between 6 and 8 pounds, desserts about 3 pounds, and with delicious bakery cake from cotta or grandmother with pine nuts, leaves room for them very well for less than 15 pounds, including drinks. The restaurant is full of students and young people. the Italian brothers who take care of the importation of panis so that the wines of Tucana, puglie and sicilia."

"A few months since we have been here, but only due to travel distance! It’s not enough to say this place is good! It’s excellent! The staff, the customer service and the standards are high! The open plan kitchen allows you to see the high standards of the kitchen team. Yes they have a menu, and yes not everything is available on it, and whilst I get this may be disappointing they’re ethos seems to be fresh food. Would you want it, if it was frozen? The fish is fresh, that day and sometimes they run out of things. What you are guaranteed is a high level of service and food at more than reasonable prices. Once again credit to Izzy, front of house team, and the kitchen team!"

"we have an impromptu lunch. we had to find a waiter to take our order. the starters took old and were tasteless. I even had to wait until my best come after they brought my starter. we were not asked if we were in order for drinks between the curses. the mains took forever! Soggy batteries on my partner fish. my head was pleasant, but eating is just a little overpriced for what it is. we were never asked if everything was in order with our meal. a really nice environment and friendly staff, but bad price-performance ratio not the largest customer service. not even asked on the way out when everything was in order with our meal! they like to take their money .. repaid the obligatory surcharge. will not be back..."

"I come into the Grange when I visit from France to work with english disabled people. I am very impressed with Chloe, she could not do more for my family. This evening I came in alone and she recognised me straight away and knew my drink and had the time to sit and speak with me. Hopefully she will be again when I visit in December with family. There is no fault with anything, that's all I can say. And I used to own a restaurant that my son has bow taken over. I would highly recommend! If I came again and Chloe wasn't there I don't feel it would be the same. I'll be in again on 17th December for dinner."

",we came here for a late Sunday roast, the older First Lady we spoke with was amazing and made us very welcomed and comfortable, we started off with drinks in the lounge area before going to the restaurant most of our servers were great, the server Daniel ruined the whole experience at Berkshire arms , he was very short with us and even when it was time to close at 10.30 with others still there with full drinks he advised us they were shutting we felt targeted as other patrons were still in there drinks full pints etc but we were asked to go by him. Daniel ruined our experience and really let the whole team down as he never once smiled or felt welcoming, 5 stars to all other staff on Sunday evening"

"The staff at this restaurant were wonderful, and I was thrilled to find that the entire menu was gluten-free! Everything, including the chips and the "tweeble" rings, was safe to eat since they only used gluten-free ingredients, ensuring no cross-contamination. It was such a treat to have so many options! The only items that weren't gluten-free were the burgers, but I could easily request gluten-free bread for those, which was no issue at all since they are simply grilled. Overall, a fantastic experience!"
"Sat outside as dogs not allowed inside. Very difficult to get out when holding a couple of drinks as the door opens inwards and nowhere really to rest a drink. Luckily a very friendly waitress helped out. Person serving behind the bar was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. Tables benches outside had leaves, bird poo and puddles on them suppose it is November! Lovely pub and atmosphere inside, just a shame no dogs inside not even in bar area."

"AMAZING FOOD!! Everything was delicious. The complimentary tapenade was surprisingly moorish, especially when neither of us like olives and it was a nice touch. We had the crab arrancini and pork to start, both were very fresh and piping hot, incredibly enjoyable. We had the monk fish and venison for mains and neither could be faulted. The monkfish was cooked perfectly, it was soft and fell apart. The venison was also perfectly cooked. We managed to squeeze in dessert which was well worth it. It was one of the fluffiest sticky toffee puddings I've ever had and the chocolate torte was huge and absolutely incredible. It was easy to tell the staff were passionate about their business and took the time to talk to us about the food and the local area. Definitely worth a visit. The higher price tag is reflected in the quality and quantity of the dishes."
"The lack of vegetarian options is disappointing. Additionally, the small starter soup was lukewarm and barely filled the bottom of the bowl. However, the vegetables served with the main dishes were quite nice. The staff were excellent, and the atmosphere was wonderful, which helps to make up for some shortcomings. It would be great to see a more adventurous approach to the menu. Total cost per person: £80–£90. Food: 3/5, Service: 5/5, Atmosphere: 5/5."

"Lovely interior, although if you struggle with stairs you should request a ground floor table. Slightly aggressive air con, but the staff did adjust it for us. Fabulous selection of fish and sea food, steaks, and one or two vegetarian options. I couldn't see anything vegan. Food was tasty and clearly prepared with love. I had a risotto that was nice and creamy. Service was good but occasionally slow. It was pretty popular for a mid week evening, so booking is advised. Vegetarian options: A couple of choices of both starters and mains. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Recommendation for vegetarians: Somewhat recommend Vegetarian offerings Clearly labeled vegetarian dishes"

"High expectations. Great disappointment. Nice ambience and service was fine. But food very second rate and not particularly cheap. Fish was very wet and overcooked and full of bones. Risotto had a very strange taste to it. We tried 3 different deserts and none matched the description eg tarte tatin was actually a poached apple. All where disappointing. We would have complained if we weren't on route to the theatre. If food quality is important to you I would avoid Purchases. Walkability: 5mins from Cathedral in pedestrian area Food drinks: Fish was very wet and overcooked and full of bones. Risotto had a very strange taste to it. "Cannot fault the food. We had 3 courses of hot, tasty and beautifully presented food. However the service was very very slow and not terribly professional. The cutlery and table wear mediocre. Given it is the end of October the room was cold as the front door was propped open. Given all that I would go back for the food but not the overall dining experience. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: £100+ Food: 5 Service: 2 Atmosphere: 2"

"Wouldn't recommend. Mussels weren't cleaned properly so still had beards attached, were over cooked and many of the shells were broken. Hummus tasted just like blitzed tinned chickpeas, couldn't taste any lemon, tahini, garlic or olive oil. Batter on the fish was soggy. French fries were stale and under seasoned. Very expensive considering the modest portion sizes and lackluster quality. 4 out of 10, would have been less but the sourdough was excellent."
"We were disappointed with our experience at this restaurant. The food arrived cold, and even though it was not busy, we waited 50 minutes for our starters. We ordered three different steaks cooked to our preferences, but the waitress was unable to distinguish between them. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. The price per person is average, ranging from £20-30. The food was rated a 3, service a 2, and atmosphere a 3."

"Such a bright friendly greeting and great convivial atmosphere really made this an ideal place to enjoy excellent food. The Cullen Skink was perfect, the abundant gambas beyond sublime, enhanced by a generous touch of chili, ginger and coriander in their pot of garlic butter. Faultless cooking and presentation, this was a wonderful lunch. Big shout out for the delightful young lady from Ballymena who greeted, served and brought enthusiasm and genuine warmth to the place. Well done and thank you."

"My family and I came here for my birthday. It was an excellent time with the service being exceptional. All the servers were extremely friendly and helpful. The food was fantastic, although the curried parsnip soup whilst delicious was perhaps on the under-spiced side. The steak was perfectly cooked to my liking and had a delicious deep flavour. The chocolate bread and butter pudding topped off the meal wonderfully. We did visit on a Thursday and so it was fairly empty as we sat upstairs but the decor of local art was delightful. I shall certainly be visiting again. Thank you for such a memorable experience. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"
"Had a meal here today, 4 of us. Wasnt great, we had 2 chefs special starter to share, not enough bread for 2 people to have with camerbert and terrine. The terrine was ok but tasted like cornbeef. Camerbert was nice, the spicy chicken was nice. We asked for more bread it took so long to come out we had almost finished. When it eventually came out after asking twice, it was toasted and like little bruchettas. The main courses weren't great, had 2 mixed grills chicken was burnt on both mixed grills, had to ask for another 4oz steak as the first was well done when I asked for medium rare, the signature burger wasn't great pulled beef dripping was more like sliced beef hidden under the cheese with no sauce and the burger tasted more like grit. 10oz ribeye was probably the only good thing. Sticky toffee pudding was ok wasnt great. Had better. The menu looks better than what is served. Atmosphere wasn't great and wasn't busy yet everything took ages to come out like they were busy. Staff were friendly but no apology as to why food took so long. Alot of money was spent which could of got better elsewhere. Tables were sticky too like they had been cleaned with sugar. Not sure what has happened as have had better meals here in the past."
