"Well we knew going into it that it was going to be so packed with locals-a Saturday night and England was playing Switzerland. We kept hoping to secure a table, but two beers in and we knew it was not goin to happens. It went into OT kids and well, you guessed ur, England won! It was insane with enthusiasm! We were able to get an order of fish and chips in and they were fabulous?"

"Visited with the family, in a rainy day after a day trip to Duxford IWM. Mains were tasty, but nothing spectacular. Deserts were bellow expectations, particularly the chocolate delice. Service was nice, very polite waiters, but the wait for all the dishes was horrendous. The backgardem with the pond offers nice views, and expect it to be amazing in a dry day. Due to the long waiting times and nothing spectacular in the food section I do not recommend the venue."

"Overall, we were happy with the service and food, however, we ordered from the lunchtime offer' of meal and drink for but the bill only showed a reduction for one drink (glass of wine) we were not informed that the Soda and Lime drinks were not included in the offer and therefore not given the opportunity to order drinks that were included! Our bill was therefore marginally higher than expected Also, our order for the Brie and Cranberry in baguettes was supposed to have Dijon mustard and rocket in them, neither was and nor was any explanation given. As we were pressed for time we did not question this and apart from that, the food was good."

"I've been going after shante for a few years and I'm sorry to check it out as okay, but it's not what it used to be. eating the same tapas menu has been for several months and not particularly interesting for vegetarians. I ordered a special tapa of garlic bread with chili and rocket disappointing the brot was thin cut and rocket was yellow and shoved. I was surprised that everyone cook with self-esteem was happy to use it and that the waiting staff did not ask it. it was a special one, if ingredients do not take it up to scratch!"

"The atmosphere at the Tickell is a balance between being contemporary and steeped in history. Lovely building with odd shaped windows. Bar was welcoming and the restaurant was lit which made the evening ambiance just right to lose yourself. It felt as if we were there in out own private restaurant. No music playing just the hum of people enjoying good food and company. We had a memorable experience."

"We had an excellent birthday dinner at this restaurant. The service was friendly and professional. The menu offers a wide variety of seasonal dishes that cater to different tastes. Although the pudding was not perfect, we appreciated the discount we were offered on our bill. The wine list is extensive and reasonably priced. The dining room, located in the conservatory, provides a lovely view of the garden. We have visited multiple times and have always experienced consistently good quality and service."

"The restaurant was spotless and had some really thorough but sensible covid measures in place. We ate inside and had lots of room around our table. Having fewer tables meant it was quiet and perhaps not the hustle and bustle we were used to but this is completely understandable given the covid context! The food was absolutely delicious, me and my kids loved the food. You order for kids from the adult menu but you can customise to suit kids’ preferences. The staff were friendly, attentive and really thoughtful in their interactions with us. Overall a brilliant experience and we will be back"

"I ordered a ham mustard and sun-dried tomato bloomer. It arrived with no tomato. As the waitress had told us prior to ordering of a number of items that were not available due to no deliveries for the lock down I didn’t say anything as assumed this was the reason. When our plates were collected we were asked by another waitress if the food was ok. I made comment about the lack of tomato and how it would have been nice to have known before hand as I would have ordered something else. She went off and came back to advise she’d spoken to the chef who assured her 100% he’d put tomatoes in it. My response was I can assure you he didn’t and my friend also confirmed there was none. Again the waitress said the chef says he did, so he did. All but accusing me of lying. She was rude, unapologetic and her attitude was appalling. It was a shame as all the other staff were friendly and professional. There’s plenty of other pubs within that area . She and her attitude will certainly make me go elsewhere next time we are able to."

"My wife ordered the vegetarian option fried squash with noodles. She was unable to eat most of it because the noodles and accompanying vegetables were overcooked. We mentioned this to the waitress and instead of not charging for the meal we were given coffee without charge. The bill still came to £80 which was one alcoholic drink, three mains (one not eaten) and two desserts. We considered this very expensive."
